This is a really cool idea. I love automation games so it was fun to get some automata working for me. It'd be nice if you could see what materials you needed for stuff in the shop menu too, cuz I found myself going back and forth a lot to figure out what to craft for profit. I ended up just making a ton of heads over time to make money. It'd be cool if you could make automata sell and buy stuff too, I would've liked to setup a full automation of making and selling heads so I could just watch my workers make money for me lol. Great job on this I had fun playing it!
The mechanics work well together and offer a sense of progression. It would be cool to see where you take the game.
I love the vibe and concept of this game. I think if the main mechanic of cutting out the shapes wasn't so precise and could be done quicker (it takes me about 10min for 1 sheet of cogs) this would be much more enjoyable. Everything else is simple, and easy to understand.
Hi there!
First of all, congratulations on submitting for GDKO 2025!
Your game doesn't seem to have any direction towards progression. I felt like I was clicking buttons and hearing noises without ever seeing anything to show for it.
The minigame was brilliant, albeit a little bit janky to move around, but still a great premise!
The sound clips were very high in reverb, which would work well with a backing track of music, but by themselves it definitely made the game feel even more empty.
The art style is great, and would work even better if the 3D models were implemented.
Thanks!
With exception of the minigames, those things you mentioned were intentional. I'm not a fan of tutorials, so I was expecting (hoping, really) that the player would be able to figure things out by poking around. As for the soundscape, the feeling I was going for was: working alone in an empty workshop, so if it gave you the impression of an empty space, then I succeeded.
Without the time to have people play-test it, it was all a bit of a gamble.
Thank you for your feedback.
