I loved the crazy idea of combining a farming sim with bullet hell – the unexpected pairing worked surprisingly well.  The initial feeling of powerlessness transitioning to unstoppable space farmer was incredibly satisfying.  However, I did notice the bullets felt a bit 'sticky' to the ship.Still, the overall concept is brilliant and genuinely innovative.. Fantastic work!

You have so much packed into this game.  I was having fun shooting things and then suddenly it's like there is a whole other game going on back on the planet.  I'm not usually a huge fan of farming type games, but this was impressive.

Fun feedback loop! The two activities complemented each other very well. I would have liked to see the total number of gems collected while still in the spaceship (number go up, feels good). Like others have mentioned the bullets being parented to the player is a bit strange/overpowered, and the WASD + Arrow keys controls are a bit awkward.

The 2 genres work quite well together. The only thing i have to note is, that in the bullet hell mode, the bullets seem to be moving with the player / enemies. This was quite weird at first.
The farming was suprisingly strategic, that's a nice touch.

I have to admit that bullet hell + farming simulator was not a combo I expected haha.  It was a lot of fun though!  Really solid job on this and impressive that your mechanics were so different.

I managed to defeat the boss, he was actually easier than I thought he would be but still pretty cool. Having the farming and the space battles is a great idea and there's definitely a lot of choices in the game which lead to progression. The space battle section is my favourite side of things and I liked that the ship had a magnetic field for drawing in the crystals

Very fun game! I killed the boss :D

I think there are a few things that could be looked at. When I was finished with farming and maxed out my ship, there's no need to collect gems anymore (which is fine). So it's just surviving until the boss spawns. If you fly constantly in a single direction (e.g. just go left), I don't think it's possible to die, because enemy bullets despawn when they are killed and your wall of bullets will kill everything before they get close.

The farming minigame was interesting but at some point the income was enough to just wait a few minutes for maxing out all ship upgrades. But the game pauses when not in view :') so I had to keep it visible while I was afk farming.

Good stuff, though :D

i liked it, it was a bullet hell, then turned to a FARMING GAME! hilarious, great game!

I love the concept of this game. The space portion was like a more fast-paced, action-packed version of the mines in Stardew Valley. If asteroids, space stations, other ships were added to the space portions, this game could be a truly great "farm sim with spaceships". While your two dueling mechanics seem at odds, I think they pair together quite well. This is aided by the fact that you made farming more fast-paced and generous than in other farming sims (which is also great for a jam game).

A very ambitious and exciting entry!

Xander said two mechanics, not two games. What a weird but fun combination. Either game here could both made it to the next on their own. One of my favorites for the round, fantastic job.

Such a nice duality between the two worlds! I probably spend so much time playing this (checking my last comment was 30 mins ago... ) the music, the pacing, the SFX. Instead of making 2 mechanics you made two games!
Stayed till the end to beat the boss. Congratulations on such a cool experience!

This game was so fun and addictive! I would love to see you expand on the game.

To add to the game feel, a sound when picking up gems would be nice, an addictive / dopamine sound :D

Kinda like the gems in Rayman 3 maybe?

Anyways, well done! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the kind words and it's cool to hear that you'd like to see more of it! A pickup sound would be great, gotta get that dopamine going for the gems. Thanks for playing :)

Amazing! Excelent gameplay loop!
My only complaint is that the bullets feel "attached" to the player, as the bullets follows the player movement.
are the bullets spawned as children of the ship?

Developer(+1)

So glad to hear you enjoyed it! Yeah the bullets are children of whoever spawned them. I was copying how minishoot adventures did it, but most players seem to find it weird so I'll probably make them move independently if I work on the game more in the future. Thanks for playing :)

Really felt like there could've been a range and a magnet ability for gems. Overall the farming felt a bit weaker compared to the main game where all of the progression was felt. The graphic styles were nice but a bit different from each other which looked a bit weird to my eye.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah definitely was gonna add range and pickup radius upgrades, wanted to do a random full screen gem collect mechanic too. Farming was a bit lackluster, I spent more time on the bullet hell for sure. Thanks for playing :)

Task: mechanics that complement each other
nickbdawg: "what if I made two full games that complement each other?"

It's crazy that you actually managed to do all of this. It actually works very well and you might have something good in your hands. Congrats, man!

This is a concept of game I'd buy.

Developer(+1)

Hahaha it was definitely a lot of work to pull it off, but I thought it was such a cool idea when I read the prompt for the jam I had to go for it. So cool to hear it's a concept you'd buy if it was expanded upon into a full release. Thanks for playing :)

Very interesting genre mash-up! Never seen anything like this!

And fun name for the game too )

Developer

Glad to hear you enjoyed the weird combination of genres! Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

The mixed game modes worked really well. I had fun in both and can see a lot of potential in both areas. Really fun game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind comment! Yeah there is definitely a lot of potential for things to add in both halves of the game, I had so many more ideas to add stuff. Thanks for playing :)

Fun game! I love the creative mechanics combinations. They work pretty well together. I feel that adding an attack range upgrade would be great for this game. Great job!"

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! Attack range upgrade was definitely next on my list of upgrades to add, but ran out of time to add it. Thanks for playing :)

a really well executed game for theme wise, tho there are lot of things to improve ,one of which are the controls.
never mind the graphics and the audio it's not important, I think this is a well put together submission and would love to see this on 2nd round. job well done 😎💪

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for playing!! Yeah the controls are definitely lacking, I didn't spend enough time refining them and the controls on controller are especially bad.

Submitted(+1)

Wow that was surprisingly addicting, my economy started to ramp up really fast once I got that third flower into my farm and it was fun to see how fast I started killing enemies once I got that going! One small thing I noticed (and I'm not sure if this was intentional or not) but the bullets I fired seemed to move with my character as I moved around instead of keeping their own trajectory in space.

Excited to see where you go with this if you continue to work on it!

Developer (1 edit)

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! Yeah the economy gets crazy once you get a tulip or two lol. Yeah the bullets move with the ship, I just copied what minishoot adventures did cuz I like that game a lot lol. Seems that people generally don't like that tho so I'll probably change bullets to move independently if I work on the game in the future. Thanks for playing :)
