Really good! Amazing art style! Your art was incredible. It was easy but with some tweaking this could be a sellable game soon!

A bit too easy for my tast, but great idea!

I really like this concept! It's a fun mechanic having to manage and balance your controls each turn. Lots of polish for a 48-hour jam. Great job!

Really good idea and presentation. One of the best I playied so far

Being a big fan of Isaac, I definitely couldn't resist the charm of this game, too. At the moment there doesn't seem to be much threat from enemies and you can easily outsmart them, but damn that's a great submission! My favorite part is that you're free to choose 0, 1, 2 or all 3 moves in the same turn. It truly gives weight to players' decisions. I could exploit this by skipping infinite turns to get hearts, though. And it would be great if you could move freely when there are no more enemies on the screen. ;)

Really good idea for a game. I'll say that it get's a bit tedious waiting for the right moves in the long run though. Maybe you could make movement free when all enemies are dead, and also make sure you'll always get at least one attack pattern and one move pattern per turn. Really liked the chess inspiration in the patterns and the enemies' movement, it felt very intuitive. Oh and also, the bats don't show how much health they have, but the tombstone looking enemy did - I wished they all had a visual indication when they lost health. All this is to say I liked the game. Well executed. Well done.

This is really amazing! Great art sound and concept!

I did find a bug though that you should probably fix, you can end your turn after the level is complete as many times as you want and thus can get lots of health for free

This was well executed dungeon crawl with great art and music! Much likes!

Nice art, music and gameplay! I had a lot of fun playing it.

The sudden increase in challenge towards the end was a bit extreme, but manageable.

Would love to see this as fully realised game. Nice job!

The artstyle reminds me a lot of Ed McMillen's work (in a good way). I think it might've worked a bit better with crafted puzzles rather than random card draws, but hey for a gamejam it's totally awesome! It was nice figuring out the different enemie behaviours and predict their next moves. The heat token is a bit OP, because you can just farm hearts on a cleared floor by hitting the end round button.
Definitely one of this jam's gems! Hope to see you in the top 20 video :)

Nice game! Music, art, gameplay! Really good job!

One suggestion is to have free movement when you beat all enemies.

Music feels great and sets the mood, art is very strong and enjoyable to look at. Sadly, I like the concept, but it isn't that well executed, and overall feels unfinished. The gameplay would also have been difficult to figure out without the instructions, but hey, it's a jam game, so as long as you had fun and learned something new, it's all good :D

Here is my game if you wanna play it, sorry for linking it in the comment but itch is bugged and isn't displaying it in the comment: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/698697#post-1648262

First off, music and art are very professional. Really cool concept, however I did feel as though the game design was a little unfinished. I think to improve it there needs to me more constraints, such as a limit on the number of cards used per level, or only being able to pick one card at a time. Gameplay would have been difficult to figure out without the useful instructions underneath the game.

I thought it was really cool and clever that enemy movement is inspired by chess pieces. I played the game to completion. A win screen would be cool, but I understand with time constraints why it probably isn't there.

This game is super cool! The art is super smooth, it's decently fleshed out, and overall is a great time-waster!

I really like the game concept, and the art is brilliant ;)

Really cool game! I really like the music and art. Just a heads up if you update it. You should probably make heart "cards" only spawn when enemies are in the room or else you can just farm them after all the enemies are dead.

Developer

I realized that very quick. Probably better to make consumable things a one time use.
