I love the mechanic! I wish this asset package had spikes that were a higher contrast from the rest of the art though. It was really refreshing to use different keys each level.
Thansk,
the keys you pick up are randomised,
so each playthough (and each time you die) has different keys
Nice concept.
Interesting concept. When you switch to new controls the difficulty really ramps up, especially when they switch left and right. I do wish you didn't slide into spikes whenever you're on a slope though.
Thanks,
I initially used the spikes to slow down the player and force him to use both directions, not just hold right and jump over everything.
I might have overdone it a bit with the spikes
Awesome mechanic. Wished I could have come up with something like this!
Really like the movement feel and very cool mechanic. Well done
A well made, satisfying game that truly feels out of control. Amazing job.
very cool idea.
Very fun, had me frustrated at level 2, in a good way lol
cool idea! I think the game would've benefit from less complex level designs, particularly less vertical. I kept falling into spikes off the bottom of the screen that i couldn't see until hitting them.
I thought it might add more variety,
and the first vertical part with the platforms from both sides was mainly used to have the player use both directions
The problem with falling into spikes you couldn't see earlier is due to the screen size,
I intended a bigger screen with more area visible, but had to change it after some UI size bugs and not enough time left to solve it the proper way
after looking at the assets first I thought that it was a rip-off, but after playing it I realized that it's actually a very clever interpretation of the theme!
Thanks,
Sunnyland is used a lot, because it looks awesome and some tutorials show it.
Some people just stick with it.
I picked it, because it provided all the needed sprites and fit quiet nicely
Camera was a little bit weird, but other than that really fun! Good job
I'd also really appreciate feedback for my game, https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/695512
Love the artstyle and music- it does feel a bit floaty, though.
Nice game! I really enjoyed the art and gameplay. Well done!
Thanks, really appreciate it
But I have to mention that I got the art from the AssetStore,
Only the UI was from me (beside the buttons)
A list with used assets is in the game and the description on the main page
fun and difficult, my favorite combo!
great concept however it feels a little too floaty and unresponsive sometimes.
Thats probably because I did most testing in editor and not in browser (because of build times)
browser ended up with less frams, making it feel a bit wanky
Early tests in browser didn't have this, because I started with tiny maps with no tees/bushes
Didn't have much time left when I noticed on the finished bigger maps
Died to spikes a lot as others have said, but this is a cool take on the theme.
A lot of people did the shifting/consumable controls, but this has been my favorite so far! Well done. Changing hand position (and sometimes ending up backwards) was a really cool take on this prompt.
Took me some time to figure out what you meant with backwards,
completly forgot most people use QWERTY keyboards
I'm using a German Layout (QWERTZ) where the Y key is next to the X
I had the controls set, so you dont end up having the left key on the right.
(left are Q, A, Y, W, S, X and right are E, D, C, R, F, V)
Should have thought about different keyboards :/
Spikes were ruthless!
Very interesting use of controls, having to reconfigure and remap my hands to the keys.
good game even if you used some well known assets but the game mecanic is ok , a litle bit hard but enjoyable
great work
Thanks,
I thought because I'm alone and not really good at creating art/music I'll just stick with assets from the store
had a hard time creating the custom art (Top UI and the keys)
Might add some personal assets later, If I ever continue on the game
