SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE? SOTE?
Ahahaha I got arrested, what a beautiful day to have a hangover
This was a fun experience lol and definitely something different from the rest of the entries :O!
Great art, and great game overall, I found the cursive font a little too hard to read, but in general very good!
I like the art, but the visual novel / text adventure doesn't necessarily do a good job of indicating intent outside of text, which made it difficult to engage with.
We tried to put directions and words of importance in red, but we also didn't finish the script until about an hour before the jam's end so no time for a second pass to make sure it was clear to follow. It's on the list of improvements for after the jam.
Great take on the jam theme! Really like the art and you really captured the whole bumbling around in a unknown land.
I love this idea! Reminds me of when I lived in spain for a bit, but couldn't speak spanish hahaha
Wonderful art, wonderful looking characters and a great spin on the idea. Well done!
Fun game. I love the art.
Fun game. I love the art.
Awesome art ! I felt lost but I guess do it randomly is the goal of this game.
The artworks and music are fantastic. I felt lost a few times, which was the point of the game. Really well done.
Your presentation is wonderful :)
I love the art style!
This is such an interesting concept, and the game is amazing! The music very nice to listen to as you’re playing along and the player’s inability to understand what’s happening is awesome since it goes along with the theme. Great job!
Great art, great music, definitely feel out of control haha.
The language is solfege? I picked sola because la comes after so and I didn’t want to tempt fate with a minor scale lol
Our Writer/Artist is very happy you worked that out. Thanks for the feedback.
The art style is fantastic! Well done.
A game about trying to understand a foreign language is a great idea! Good art too!
I love so much the art style in this game. This game reminded me of when I traveled to Japan and I couldn't communicate properly hahaha
I really like this game. I just got one ending, and I'm looking forward to another. To some extent you really feel like you're in a foreign country where you don't know the language.
This is a genius idea for a game and I would love to see it developed further. The art was fantastic and the story hooked me right in. I did find a bug where if you go back to the hotel room instead of the alley it will continue to play the dialog from the alley even though I did not travel there. Maybe it was because of this but I ended up getting soft-locked and unable to progress. Regardless, fun game and good luck!
We foolishly made the game in an engine that really doesn't favor a vis-novel style game so a lot of the bugs are cause I was programming by the seat of my pants and the script was started a bit late to give enough time to test it well by the time it was finished.
It's still impressive that you made a visual novel! I can imagine a late script would cause problems. Do you think you'll update it after the upload freeze is lifted? If so I'd love to check it out again to see how it ends!
Very cool art style, how is it made?
We made it in GameMaker with a lot of custom code.
The text function to write it a chara term at a time gave us an option to swap fonts or add extra features with special characters.
Art was made in ibisPaintx on an iPad with a layer for screen tones.
