I kept thinking the red guy was out to get me >.<

Nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Haha Wrack just comes on a little strong.

"oh hey haha I can shoot Wrack for fun teehee"

[10 minutes later]

"ooh dang this is like...part of the strategy now"

It's very clever and I like it a lot!!

YUSSSSSS

Very clever, and so many maps, amazing job

Developer

Thank you!

Fun to play, I really liked it.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I love the whole concept of gameplay that revolves around working together with an NPC, and the multiple-purpose wand is brilliant. I could see something like this being a very fun 2-player game as well.

Developer

Thanks so much! Yeah, I wonder how adding coop might change the gameplay? Coop is always fun though so its worth investigating.

This was a really clever implementation of the theme. We actually almost went with this exact idea, so it's really fun being able to play it! Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'd love to see more games with AI partners!

Submitted(+1)

Agreed! Excited to see what else you come up with. I'd love your feedback on our game as well. SpaceBus

This was awesome! Wrack was the perfect embodiment of a generic human fighter, and once I got the wand, the potential of the game really started to open up. I love that you hid a heart behind an optional hidden puzzle. This was really well put together, good work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Haha I was worried no one would find the heart!

At first it felt a bit tedious waiting for the AI to kill the enemies, but once I got the staff this game became tremendously fun! Supporting the knight with the ice beam is very satisfying and really feels like you're working together. Great game!

Developer

Thanks so much! Yeah I think I'd shorten the magic-less portion of the game a little bit if I did it again. Get to the good stuff faster!

Submitted(+1)

Loved it! I like the AI partner, he was fun to play with. The game was fun, and just out of control enough to fit the theme but not to be rage-inducing. Good work!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had a good time :D

I like the look and AI.  but having an AI partner is not too chaotic or out of control

Developer(+1)

Hm... more chaos you say?

What a wonderful experience! A nice rewarding secret room, really neat little concept, and a fun dungeon!

I only really had two issues:

The dungeon design was a little odd at one or two points. It was weird to me that the first section had the key to both the first and second section, if I recall, and I was very confused for a while as to how to get the ice wand, since I was hunting for the second key in the second section.

And the dodging. The dodging felt very unintuitive and strange, and dodging away from my aim mostly felt bad. I think most games with dodge rolls (like Enter the Gungeon's great dodge roll) you roll in the direction you're moving and not the direction you're aiming, which works a lot better.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much!

1: I hadn't thought of it that way before but you're right, that layout might not be the most intuitive especially for a first level.

2: Haha yeah I'm getting a lot of notes on the dodging and I think I'd switch it to forward rolls if I had a time machine or a less tired brain when I coded it.

Love the concept and want to see more of this duos misadventures!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I don't think we're done with these two yet ;)

Got stuck (couldn't figure out the hmm statue?) but it looks to be really fun. Corner strats FTW. Pretty pixel art, great AI and fantastic take on the concept.

Developer

Thanks! Ah yeah, the hm statue you have to blast with the wand. I probably could have tutorialized that better.

Love the fact that the slimes bounce around when hit by the barbarian - I really had to play around it and it definitely accentuated the out of control theme.  Thanks for making this it was fun!

Developer

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the bullet hell (slime hell?) influence!

Outstanding and completely unfair. Takes all the instances where a player might say "Ugh this partner AI is letting me down" and turn them into "You bumbling meat sack! You saliva coated ham-axe! Must I do everything for us?!" in their best angry wizard voice. You can smell the buddy cop movie action from here. The music was a great help too. Well done all around.

Developer

Hahahaha "letting the AI partner down" is a better pitch for this game than anything I could come up with

Submitted(+1)

Great game, everything about it was top notch, loved watching Wrack smash all the pots =D

Developer

Hahaha I also found that mesmerizing. Thanks so much for playing!

Very polished game and what a great idea! Love the walking animation of the witch :D

Developer

Thank you!!

This is awesome! Especially when you only had 48 hours. Great art, audio, and gameplay, well done :)

Developer

Thanks so much! We all worked really hard on it so this is really nice to hear! :D

This is awesome!  The controls are intuitive and smooth, and the concept of the game is something I have never really seen before.  Using the wand to freeze enemies and move wrack around is a great mechanic, and there is probably even more that you could do with it if you ever decide to expand on the concept (like making Wrack jump over gaps).  The art and music/sound are also well done and add a lot to the experience.  The only complaint I have is with the final boss.  It took me a long time to realize that you had to shoot Wrack out of the way to keep him from getting stunlocked, and even then, it felt more frustrating than it really needed to be.  Maybe you could knock Wrack out of his stun by shooting him?  I also noticed that Wrack's health bar didn't seem to do anything, although I assume that is just a mechanic that didn't have time to be implemented.  Aside from that though, congrats on completing a fun and complete game in such a short period!

Developer

Thanks so much! Yep, you're totally right about Wrack's HP but I wanted to keep it on the UI to emphasize how tough he is. I really like the idea of shooting Wrack to de-stun him! I might have to implement that when I polish this up! And uh... maybe dock that boss a health point or two. Fight goes on a little longer than it needs to.
Thanks again for playing!

What an amazing game to make in 48 hours! It looks like a fully-fledged short game, and it was very addicting. The melody is simple but it hypnotized me so much that it's still playing in my mind while I'm writing this comment XD
Although, I think more visual feedback for hits will be of a good help, I wasn't sure what destroys the yellow thing for so long. In other aspects, though the controls were comfortable and intuitive. So, it's a really good game with a great mix of the art, the music and the mechanics!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Yeah I think I could add a little more "juice" to the game and really sell those hits. Thanks for the note!
