Really nice concept, cute art.
Wall jump and dash feel a bit... "off". I don't know if the gravity is too much or what, but sometimes you really feel out of control.

How does your game fit the theme?
Rather than explore how systems completely out of the player's control affect gameplay (which is the norm in most games), we decided to see how a system entirely under the player's control could still lead to unpredictable yet deterministic gameplay. This becomes more and more apparent as the screen fills up with copies of your movement from seconds to minutes ago.

Very satisfying game but it would be nice to have a little bit of game pause for a few frames when you make contact and do jumping, etc. Nice work :)
One of the components of game feel is making the game pause for a couple of frames when you hit something or do something as it gives a weighty feel, but in this game it would also give you a couple extra frames to think about where you want to go next? Overall the game does feel very good to control, it just feels like hitting the squares should have a bit more feedback?
We'll definitely work on adding juice in post jam versions of the game, but we weren't even able to accomplish all of our main goals due to time restrictions. Hopefully the upcoming versions of the game will add a lot of game feel as well as improve the overall design. Thanks for the feedback and for checking it out!
I really like this concept (like really really like it), and the art+SFX were great. It was a unique game, which I haven't found a lot of, and it was pretty addicting too. Although the controls could use some tweaking, this is really fun with a controler, and a version with 2 people where you have to doge both yourself and them could get (mind the cringe joke) out of control real fast, while still staying fun. Some more levels would have made this a full experience, but other than that it was a really really good one, one of the highest that I have rated.
The concept of enemies based on your movement is great. However, I think it would work better from a top down perspective. That way you don't have to fight gravity and the environment, which gets kinda frustrating. I really like the art and the sound. It's just that the movement isn't all that fluid; I'm constantly getting stuck in the level. I also wish I could jump with W.
Whenever I failed, the main menu would show again. However, if I then pressed start again it didn't reset the scene. It would just show the scene from when I failed. So, it was best just to ignore the UI and press R to restart.
Really amazing art and music! :o
The game is pretty fun. It's a simple concept, but very well used. My main issue was that the controls can be a bit finicky , especially around wall-jumps (too many times I've been stuck on corners). But that might be because I had to play on keyboard, or simply because I'm so used to assisting mechanics like coyote time or similar…^^' Also I still don't understand the purpose of the tiny dots that sometime can be collected.
Still, it's a really excellent game, especially for a jam! :D Congratulation for the accomplished work.
The graphics and audio were amazing. I love the movement of my amoeba, I just wasn't very good at keeping myself from going back over my own path, I ran headlong into my own death so often it's not even funny, though I was still laughing :D
I am blown away by your graphics and sound design! I especially like how the music gets more intense as you collect more squares.
I'm not to keen on the game play unfortunately. The dash does not feel right. It doesn't cancel the player's downward momentum, so the length of the dash is shorter if you fall from a high point. What feels worse is how the player drops like rock after they finish the dash.
Professional looking! Really fun to play. Would love to see more stuff to add craziness in the game like a "pac-man" portal from one side to the other, ice, spikes to avoid etc.
Only complaint is the wall jumping felt a bit off on the first couple attempts I made and maybe the angle of jumping made it so that some structures that looked 'wall jumpable' were a little far out of reach and you needed to dash? I ended up just wall jump hugging up stuff as it was a bit easier, but slower.
Cheers!
Check out the game I worked on at: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/696851 (dl exe recommended).
This game feels so professional, everything that's needed is there. It even has support for controllers.
The on-screen button explanation with the keyboard and controller using colors blew me away and the game is difficult but fun!
Your team must've worked very well together to be able to put something like this out in 48 hours, I would love to hear and feedback from you on my submission if you'd take the time
That game is super well done! The controls really feel good and I like the enemy behaviour. All in all, great game.
This is a very original concept which is well executed. The control feels great and the art is also on point. Well done!
I really like the concept and gameplay of this game.
It's a lot like snake, but a platformer and you can move through parts of the snake trail.
The only nitpick I have is that the jump felt kind of awkward and sometimes I felt like I magnet-ed to the ceiling in some places for a bit.
The best gameplay of GMTK game jam so far for me, really nice controls and animations, the whole follow mechanic is so great, I would have loved a double jump, feel it's so close to Celeste in terms of gameplay. Definlity build this game out.
Also the controls image of how to play is the best ever!
This is one of those games that I could spend hours playing! What I liked the most is the mechanic. There were times where I had more than 20 copies following me that really gave me the out of control feel. The sound is a perfect complement to create the atmosphere.
The only thing that felt weird at times were the controls. Sometimes I felt there was some sort of "delay" to what I was doing. Nonetheless, this is a great game.
Really fun and simple, enjoyed this a lot on stream! Still feel that this is greatly 'under control', as far as games go - but still rocks on the fun & presentation departments.
You can technically control the clones since they follow the exact same path as you, but I suppose things do definitely get out of control when you finally miss a jump and have to dodge all of the clones spawned at once XD. This was a really good game. I loved the art most of all. Nice job :). The dash could be a little better though
The game was awesome remind me of the cosmic clone of mario galaxy , I loved it
