How does your game fit the theme?
We interpreted the theme of Joined Together as independent objects that, when connected, take a different meaning and interpretation. In Starsnap, you take photos to isolate shooting stars, which then you connect to create constellations for points. With the randomizing of stars, objects around, and different names, no constellation is ever the same, so each group of stars, joined together, are unique. At the end of the game, you have your very own sky made of joined constellations, that’s uniquely yours to export and share with others! Show us your own sky and wallpapers in the comments! ✨

Wow! The visuals are stunning! This game bombards you with style and charm out the gate and it was a lovely experience all round!

Developer(+1)

Charm bombardment is what we strive for! Thanks a lot for the kind words! 😊

Aw, I got the Last Catgirl.  I don't want there to be a last catgirl, I want there to be more!  😿

I like the concept and visual design.  The main issue that I had is that the cursor seemed to lag behind me moving my mouse, both in the menus and when taking pictures.  I don't know if that's specific to my computer, though (I was playing the browser version).

Developer

Don't worry, there's a lot more catgirls around, we're sure!

As for the performance, we usually recommend playing the downloaded version over the browser one. We haven't heard of many situations where it dragged like that, so we can't tell for sure if it's only on your end or it's an actual problem with the web version. We'll have to experiment further, but thanks for letting us now!

A relaxing and unique entry! I think it'd be cool if there were even more options for customizing the sky, like rotating constellations or maybe even joining more than one together. Maybe it could let you rename them too, once the sky is complete?

Developer(+1)

We've considered the possibility for re-rolling the names of the constellations or maybe even let the player input their own names. That and any other suggestions such as rotating will come down if we do actually get the chance to update the game. Still, we're happy that people enjoy it as it is for now!

Submitted(+2)

Wow! This game is just next level! Fav++

Developer

Sweet! 🌟

Submitted(+2)

This was a super relaxing game and very thematic! All the little things you can catch in the sky and the funny randomly generated constellation names are so charming :)

Amazing amounts of polish and the visuals and sound work perfectly together!

Developer(+1)

All this randomness has made some people spend extra time trying to see just what they can get next. It's usually a good hook. Thanks, and glad you enjoyed it! πŸ‘

This is such a chill and charming game and your presentation was flawless, even on the game page! One thing I might consider adding  is a way to undo connections while making the constellations. I am kind of torn on that though because having it be permanent as you build adds to the "go with the flow" mood of the game. Great work!!

Also I present to you "The Fantastic Boy Sky":

Developer

Glad to see that the Fantastic Boy Sky has some good boys on it! And thanks for the feedback! We did what we could with the time, but were we to update this in the future if the opportunity arises, we'd consider that. Cheers!

Submitted(+2)

Very cute and relaxing! Maybe you could add a little bit of a puzzle to it by limiting the number of constellations you can have, so you have to make the best constellations you can. That wouldn't get in the way of the chill atmosphere and would add a little challenge. Very nice work, I really liked it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Given the time, we decided not to implement any hard limit, but since you can't' remove constellations that you've already placed, you're actually limited to the size of the screen, so there's more or less a limit for anyone that would like to minmax their highscore. Still, we could consider different kind of limitations if we update the project down the line. Thanks a lot!

Wow. Just wow. GREAT art style and mood. The gameplay and mechanics were super chill and addictive. Congratulations :) One of my favorites in the jam!

Additionally, super creative use of the theme! Most games join things, but few gave semantic meaning to the joining, if that makes any sense!

Developer

That makes perfect sense to us! There were many interpretations for the theme, such as having things already joined, or trying to get to join to something, or things that used to be joined and are not any more. It's been fascinating to see what people have created on this jam!

Thanks for the nice words too! πŸ‘

A beautiful and very enjoyable game. Loved how I was creating something unique, and (and I know that this sounds like a faint compliment) I really loved your description page. It gave a sense of the game and really made me keen to play. A really good use of the theme and something that I'd love to see more of. The only feedback I'd give was to suggest the music was a little more gentle, to really show how relaxing a game it can been. Also, oh boy, that art was incredible!

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for the feedback! And we'll let our audio person know, for sure! It's one of his best works to date, though a couple of people have mentioned it might sound a bit action-heavy rather than calming. It might be a matter of interpretation, but we'll forward the message still and see if he would like to revise it. Again, thanks! ⭐

Ok wow.. this is the best game I've played on this jam not gonna lie. From concept to execution everything is done with care and polished to the very best! I had a such peaceful time with this game I forgot for a moment it was for a jam! Absolute gem you did in 48h! Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! Those 48 hours seemed a lot longer than they were, so it's reassuring when people say it looks the part. Glad that you enjoyed the experience too!

Submitted(+2)

I'm probably the 100th person to tell you this :) but this is a very unique concept and you guys did a good job at differentiating yourself from other jam games. The presentation is really well done with the simple but effective art, sound, and music.

I didn't derive that much enjoyment from the gameplay as in some other top jam games, but I think that's because I'm looking for a more involved gameplay experience - I think your game is for a particular audience and you cater to that audience well, I'm just not part of that audience. That being said, just sitting and listening as the stars go by is very soothing. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys get a very high rank in presentation and originality.

I am really nitpicking here, but the only piece of feedback I could think of is maybe the onboarding process for the game could be a little more intuitive. It's a little confusing what to do in the game initially and a lot of player do not want to have to read text starting out. Again, that's a minor thing. Overall great job.

I would love to get your rating / comments on my game as well so I can know what to improve.

Developer

First or hundredth, it's still fuzzy and warm to hear such emotive words! And yeah, we've been getting that some people would prefer something more action-based or interactive than just a calm experience. We mostly tried to roll with mechanics we've never tried before, and it became apparent early in development that this would be far more casual. But we're still glad it went that way. There'll always be opportunity for more action or mind-bending experiences later!

Thanks for the feedback on the tutorial too! We try to cram so much stuff in our games that it's a miracle if we can put a tutorial in-game at all, so this is all we could manage. But certainly, with more time and proper care, we could try something more interactive and less text heavy. Cheers! 🍾

Gosh, I needed this! So relaxing after a day of work. The music, aesthetic, funny lil names for the constellations, everything about it is such a succinct experience. Personally, I'm not sure if replacing the constellations on the map itself is the best move, as things get crowded. Maybe in a larger expansion, you could have a lil star booklet or something? Feel like I could get lost in this for an hour, hope to see you guys expand upon the concept!

Developer(+1)

Nothing like winding down after a heavy day, huh? Glad that you liked it! And yeah, I get what you mean. With only two days of development, so many ideas get shelved and packed for later, so there's always room for expansion! The idea of a booklet is not bad at all, so that'd be interesting to try! 🌟

Submitted(+3)

Very relaxing toy :) I'd hesitate to qualify it as a "game" as there is no challenge or real "game defined goal", but I enjoyed it greatly nonetheless :) I especially liked the constellations names, very very nice!

Developer

Well, that's one point of view. Some early proposals were to make it even more toy-like, but we ended up with at least putting highscores and limiting the game's space as to put more game limitations. But hey, as long as it's an interesting toy, it's still all good! πŸ‘

Submitted(+2)

Absolutely fantastic one of the best entries i have seen so for

Developer

That's a big compliment, but we're really glad that you liked it! Thanks for playing! πŸ˜Š

Glad that you liked it too! πŸ‘

This was a lovely smooth game, very relaxing to play, no rush - just happy little star constellations :).

Thank you for building this.

Developer(+1)

Sometimes, all we need is to gaze at the night sky for some peace and quiet. Thanks a lot for the comment!

Unbelievably gorgeous game, outstanding work. Really amazing job!

The music also fit perfectly!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the remarks! Our audio guy really outdid himself this time around! 🎺

Cute little game with a beautiful art style. Felt like a stargazer's Pokemon Snap. I loved it.

Developer(+1)

Hah, thanks! It took a while after one of the teammates suggested this name for the game that I realized that it could have been inspired by that game. Ah well.

Submitted(+2)

Wow. You guys really said juice? We got that. I'm astounded by the amount of polish this game has. All the camera effects and the intro cut scene felt so clean and everything came together so well. Even the features that are build specific, like the wall paper amaze me! Really nice product you guys made in such a short time and such great teamwork between the three of you!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the wholehearted remarks! Getting everything in place isn't easy, but well worth it for this kind of comments! 😊
