I can't function with the controls, it keeps mixing me up waay too much. I think if the climb buttons were toggle I could maybe do something more? or if the keys were in normal spots I could probably also do something.

What little of the physics I felt of your game felt quite nice  though!

It’s quite difficult on keyboard, but I enjoyed it!

I like the concept of your game, but controls are really bad. Good job!

Great game, I love the concept!
The keyboard controls are... let's call them unconventional.. -.-
The controller controls are really fun though! :)

A little slow for me to start and pick up, but I really like the feel of the game and very much and really dug it after I figured out how to swing!  The gravity and feel of the movement feels heavy in a great way.  Nice work!

I couldn't wrap my head around the swinging mechanic, the controls are pretty tricky, but it looks great!

It was quite difficult to get used to, but when i did i was instantly fully commited to the experience! Well done! It's trully amazing. I only have on huge complain.... why aren't there more levels! Just kidding... amazing work! Good luck!

The game is quite innovative and fun, but hard for new players to get into (unless the game was intentioned for 2 players). I recommend adding a switch button or so (that'd break the game rules a bit but I'm sure there is a way). But once I get used to it, it became a very fun climbing game and the art was very pleasant to look at. Good job!

Thank you! The game is intended to play on a gamepad solo or duo, the idea of being able to switch is really good for the keyboard because it is too hard to control two players at the same time with the current control scheme.

Good concept. Pretty hard to play on keyboard though. I found a bug where if you didn't press the climb button for the first time and press the movement button you can just move freely.

Developer(+1)

It's not a bug, i made it that way so when you respawn you dont fall. I'll try to change that in a post jam version ^^'

I liked the art and the physics of the game. However, when playing with keyboard it was a little bit hard for me as I don't use the English US layout. I might've been easier to select more common keys for the gameplay. Cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I tried my best for the keyboard controls, but even if we forget the layout localisation problem the controls are still bad. I think the best way to fix this is to redesign entirely the controls.

A climbing game was one of the ideas I was considering, but this game is way better than whatever I would have created if I went that route. The controls took a bit to get used to, but it was fun once I got it. I would definitely say a controller is basically a necessity though.

I do have a few pieces of feedback though. At the start, it's a bit weird because you can move while not climbing until you leave a wall. I think this is what made the controls initially confusing to me. I think there could be maybe a better indicator to help differentiate the different climbers, maybe corresponding to their side of the controller. Also you can cheat moving up past a colored section by climbing with that guy and just spamming the climb button with the other.

The art and sound more than make up for these small issues though, and overall it was a great game.

Developer

Thank you for the very useful feedback! I've made that when you spawn you can move while not climbing so when you respawn at a checkpoint you dont fall. I think i'll do an update when the jam is over to improve the game with the different feeback i have.

Cool art choice! The level design is much more interesting than the rest of the climbing games in the jam. Good job!

This really is fun! I like the swinging physics, good work!

Very tricky controls on a keyboard, but nice idea and excellent aesthetic!

Great game! The art style is cool and once you get the hang of it, swinging up the side of the mountain is incredibly satisfying. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks, i tried to add a lot of juice to swinging with particle sfx and screenshake!

A really fun platformer game that didn't have platforms, the controls were a bit finicky though but overall still quite enjoyable

Developer

Thanks you, the climbing is inspired by mario odyssey's Pokio. The keyboard controls are indeed not very good.
