Oh wow, this feels really great. I love the idea of letting enemies live to get higher points, the game asks you to challenge your limits. This Risks. vs Rewards style is done well.
The "Tutorial" page is also nice, it gets the point across and is easy to understand.
all in all, cool game :D
Thanks for the feedback! It's nice to hear that someone understand the intent of the merging and splitting mechanic. Glad to hear that the "Tutorial" is good enough for you to understand the game. After the jam, we will implement a proper tutorial that will slowly teach the player about the mechanics of the game.
Quite fun! I like the music which really sets the tone of the game and the pace of the game follows it quite well.
I found picking up the dead slime a bit of a chore, because you do kill a lot of them and there's no auto pickup. I think if you still want the player to have to get close to the slime "bodies" to score points, you could make the player's movement speed a bit higher and/or implement a proximity auto-picker so you don't have to go exactly to the position of the body.
The different slimes where a nice touch, though I didn't find them to be substantially too different when playing. I think the dashing slimes could be a lot faster to pose a bigger threat, and the mother slime have much more life to make it tougher to kill.
Beyond that though I really liked playing the game! The subtle camera shake when shooting is a nice touch - again helps with the whole frenetic feel/pace of the game.
Thanks for the feedback!
Proximity auto-picker is actually a really good idea! We will definitely consider on including it after the jam. We will also try to make the game feels more fast paced.
About the different kinds of slimes, we will try to tweak variables to make them much more distinct when playing.
Thanks! Now we know that our attempt on adding juice is on the right track
I would like to state some things:
- the character's movement is indeed rather slow, so it would feel better if it's a bit faster or perhaps giving a sprinting mechanism.
- when the slime died, it has the death animation and that still counts as a living slime, I'd suggest that the trigger for the slime killing the player already destroyed before the animation starts.
- add a way to control the bgm and sfx volume, because it's rather loud and some would prefer to hear the song rather than straight up muting it.
but, it's a great game, I like the simplicity of the game, good job xD
Thanks for the feedback!
- We will try our best after the jam to make the game feels much more fast paced
- Thanks for the bug report! We were already running out of time when we were making the dead animation for the slimes so we couldn't playtest it properly. We will fix this after the jam
- We were afraid that we didn't have enough time to implement full fledged settings (Controls, audio sliders, etc) and considering that many games from last year didn't include settings, we thought it would be better to spend more time on the game itself. In fact we were almost late to submit this project. We will implement full fledged settings after the jam is finished
The character and the whole game is really slow. It's a shame, because the concept is cool, and with some tweaking, this would ba a great game.
Thanks for the feedback! We will tweak variables after the jam to make the game feels much more fast paced.
Wow, such a neat little idea, executed really well! Joining blobs together or splitting them apart has both thematic and gameplay connotations. Great entry!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you like the gameplay
Not a bad little arcade shooter. My only nitpick is that the blob death animation takes a little too long -- and can still kill you! Every time I died, it was from moving into a dying blob to nick its points, only to have that kill me. Wish their hitbox as an enemy went away as soon as they died.
Thanks for the feedback and the bug report! By the time we put the dead animation we are running out of time, so we didn't playtest the dead animation properly. We will fix it after the jam.
Very nice game ! I loved the idea.
It took me a little while to understand that I had to loot the dead blob to score. I don't rememenber reading that in the instruction (sometime you have to state the obvious for dumdums like me ;) )
Little suggestion if you plan on continuing the game later. A dash would have felt very nice to get out of tight spots (maybe make it cost something so it's not overused)
Great work !
Thanks for the feedback! We plan to make a proper tutorial after the jam is finished. We considered of putting dash in the game, but we are running out of time. We will consider to put it after the jam.
Ran into some bugs though.. nice game mechanic and idea..
Thanks for playing and the feedback! After the jam we will try to playtest more to find all the bugs.
nice game.
Thanks for the feedback!
The experience is quite smooth, and allowing the slimes to join to defeat a bigger one is fun :)
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoy playing it
Nice game. Love the mechanics.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you like it
This one's definitely a good one, the very arcade feel of gliding around shooting the colorful blobs while trying to go for the highest scores.
although the concept isn't exactly new (I'm pretty sure there's a mobile game like this) it doesn't really matter when it's presented in such a fun way, maybe just make the player character a little bit faster to so dodging isn't such a complicated thing when slimes are closing in from all directions.
Thank for your feedback! Regarding the originality of the concept, we really didn't know if there's another game like this. Next time we update the project, we will consider making the player faster.
