The visuals here were amazing and the idea of balancing your player buffs or sending them to repair the city was really cool and original. I loved the controls, felt fluid and responsive, and the 2D sprites in the foreground with the low-poly backgrounds looked amazing and put me in the mood for some Toho. I only wish that there was a bangin anime soundtrack to go with it! I also didn't know if sending specific roarers to help the city was having an effect. For example, if I sent the boomerang roarer, it seemed to have the same effect as the healing roarer, if that makes sense. But this was a fun game with a cool setup, so great job!

By the way, we played your game on our stream tonight!

The game is fun to play but a bit repetitive 😊 I love the art style!

Really awesome visuals, I especially love the water and the city in the background! Took me a minute to figure out the mechanic but its a really cool idea, awesome entry!

The idea is amazing. It's really good and can be further expanded upon. Graphics are also amazing. Enemies are too simple, only one type that moves in one direction. Some components of the ship also feel underwhelming. Also the lack of music and especially SFX is detrimental. Make a post-jam, this game has amazing potential in it!

Nice shooter, nice graphics and good gameplay! Interesting idea for the jam

I think the oceans in particular look best. I struggled to understand the mechanics although my experience may have been dampened by space scrolling down the page while fullscreen wouldn't work.

Obligatory amazing visuals comment
But also this gameplay concept is brilliant, I love how you satisfied the theme using only the mechanics.

Developer

Thanks! I'm working on another full game at the moment, and definitly going to add some of these concepts to it. That's what gamejams are for :)

Fun game. Enemy health would have been a good addition. And the enemies feel like bullet sponges. Could use some game balancing. But overall a damn good job.

Developer

Appreciated! And fully agree. A bit less focus on sea water shaders, and more on gameplay and player feedback :)

Agree this is one of the best looking games of the jam so far. Also a really cool idea but think it needs further exploring. Found it difficult to know if I should ever turn off my guns and with all the different guns firing it a bit too chaotic for me. I think with some more work on the mechanics and balance it could be really fun!

Developer

Yeah, should have focused a bit more on the meta game and player feedback. I'll take that with me for the next game. Thanks for the feedback!

Honestly one of the best looking games thus far. The idea is cool but I honestly don't see much point in ever not just using all abilities against the aliens except for maybe Repair. I would like to see some more enemy types and some way to track process.

Developer

Thanks! Agreed. I spend most of my time building the core game mechanics from scratch, and did not have enough time to really work out and balance the meta game. The pixelart for the player and enemies was made 30 minutes before the deadline haha. Next time I'll use a game engine and library to speed things up.

These are some phenomenal visuals. Great use of 2d assets

Developer

Appreciated! Spent a bit too much time on the water shader and making it look authentic 1995 era.

It was fun to shoot but did not feel like the attacks were dealing much damage.

defo see the future of expanding on the powers each by one and on their combinations.

Supercool that you made it all by yourself

----------------

 Played the second time.

it wasnt clear what do the weapons do when protecting, but defo got a grip on the weapons :P

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, it needs a lot more feedback animation and visuals. Also a more clear idea of what is actually happening in the meta game. But ran out of time. I will definitely use some of these ideas in another full game I'm building. That's why gamejams are great!

It's a really fun game to play :)

Developer

Thanks! Spend a lot of the time on the feel of the game. But next time should spend more on the meta game and player feedback.

I love the concept and mechanic. I would very much play a full version where the chromatic power are acquired step by step with different upgrade for each and with different level or storyline. Good job!

Developer

I'm putting some stuff I used in this jam game into a full game I'm working on with similar gameplay mechanics. Thanks, it was stressful and fun at the same time making this!

Some very clever visuals going on, like the 3D ocean, trails of water behind you and the city in the background. Not really clear on what I was doing, for the most part it just seemed to work killing everything.

Developer

Thanks, creating the shader of the ocean texture was fun, but also took a little too much time, which I've should have invested more in player feedback and the meta gameplay. The actual long term goals of the game aren't very clear. Also technically the scene isn't rotating, not even moving actually. It's just UV maps offsetting horizontally on flat planes in different directions to create the parallax illusion of rotation like they did on 4th gen consoles.

Well it looks great, very effective! I know how you feel regarding time management. I myself ran out of time too because of bad choices of what to invest my time into!

This game looks Incredible! It is also very fun to play.

Developer

Definitely had fun making it. Glad you enjoyed playing it :)
