Nice game and idea! Your art style may not perfect, but the sound and voice are brilliant: D Love stuff like that!
The concept is good and I feel like you could do a LOT with that idea ^^ ! It was fun trying to figure how to pass each room =) !
However... The controls are really tedious. First, in the gameplay itself, the jump seem imprecise. I feel like there is friction on the ground and not in the air, so the character goes faster when airborne, it's really disturbing when trying to land precisely somewhere.
The control scheme itself is also really complicated : if you need to have a combination of keys just for one of the most important action of your game (Shift + Space = Separate), there is a problem xD.
Overall, that's a good entry, with a pretty unique concept, that needs a bit of polish =). Good job !
Thank you for your lovely feedback! and also thank you for playing!
You're right, the controls are a bit too complicated! However I wasn't sure what else to map them to, to be honest. During development, I started with simply jumping detatched you, but that led me to accidentally re-attatching to other brothers, or the stack I just left. So I added holding/releasing shift as a way to toggle connections happening or not with the player. I do agree, and it sounds logical, to have a more integral feature to have a simpler control scheme though. I'm sure I'll solve it somehow!
and you're right about the physics! When you've written it out like that, I'm not entirely sure why I programmed it like that! Haha. I have very little experience writing platforming things, so I was just happy it worked! However, that's not an excuse, thank you for pinpointing exactly what the issue is! I really super appreciate it.
I'm glad you liked the concept overall, thank you so much for playing, and again for such lovely indepth feedback! I appreciate it a lot :)
Interesting idea. Controls are a bit complicated, I kept resetting the level accidentally.
Graphics are pretty good though. Well done overall!
Pretty cool idea and it matches the theme very well. Funny sound effects xD Sadly I got stuck because some brothers just refused to connect, but cool game nonetheless.
I'm glad you enjoy the idea and it's connection to the theme! I had a lot of fun making the sound effects, haha!
I'm really sorry to hear you got stuck! I think it happens sometimes when a brother lands on your at a specific place, but I didn't have time to fix it, sadly.
Thank you for giving the game a go! :)
Not only there is too much controls, it's also really hard to separate a brother from the pile without reconnecting them immediately when they fall
Interesting game, the take on the theme is quite special. I like the graphics of the game, very well made pixel art. The puzzles were well made too, great job!
The controls were hard at times but overall the game came together really nicely. Nice puzzles. Great work!
I'm and idiot and had a hard time with the floating controls and stacking mechanic but really enjoyed the simple art and randomized grunt SFX. Cheers!
The concept is really neat, and I think the puzzles did a good job at demonstrating the mechanical ideas. I did manage to get myself stuck between a wall and a stack of brothers at one point, but that was my own fault, haha. I like the monastic theme as well.
The platforming itself was at times frustrating though, I felt it was a little hard to make semi-precise jumps.
I'm glad you like the concept!
I'm sorry you got stuck! It's a problem I would like to solve in a future release. Perhaps climbing up a stack of brothers as a singular brother would fix that issue, and add for more interesting puzzles to solve...
Thank you for the feedback! and you're right, the platforming aspect could be better and can definitely can be improved!
Thank you for playing :)
Yeah, climbing up the brothers would make for an interesting mechanic. I could imagine a puzzle where, for example, you build a ladder of brothers up a thin shaft, and brothers being added from a bunch of different entrances to the shaft, then at the end you climb up. Or something like that. Keep up the good work!
Nice idea for mechanics resulting is some complex puzzles to solve. Nice
Love the art style and I think you have very cool and very original mechanics! This was a great game!
