Nice Game :-)
One of my favorites games so far !!

I really liked the Mad max vibes !
Would be cool to be able to zoom out, or that the camera step back when you are longer.

I liked the fact that being stronger and having more storage doesn't mean you are more powerful because you get actually more hits by enemies.
A music would have been cool since the graphics and the pixel terrain are cool.

Nice well done !

WITNESS MEEEEE

IT IS MAD MAX x NOKIA SNAKE BABY

I HAVE BECOME  THE DEADLY DESERT SNAKE OF GUNS

I FORMED A CIRCLE AND WAS UNSTOPPABLE

AND THEN  I COLLIDED WITH MYSELF AND DIED VERY FAST

Ha! I love this - I think I could buy the upgrades even if I did not have enough Iron at the checkpoints (?). I love the whole concept and vibe, I would love it even more if there was some sweet music and sound. I like that you can only shoot to the sides so it's a little bit like oldschool pirate ship battles!

Suggestion: I'd like very much to be able to zoom out when my CAR TRAIN gets longer and longer so I can make better decisions.

I can totally see this becoming a full game with strong MAD MAX vibes, travelling the desert, visiting different towns etc. etc.

Solid entry!

really cool and fun if you add a simple menu and end screen it would be great bcoz it just straight way play the game and i thought that the game crash i died

Can you play my game!!!

Developer

Thank you.

Yes, that was the last thing that I was working on, but it didn’t make it - a pause and death screen menu. The “right” into the game was intentional, as you don’t have enemies / threats until you buy an upgrade.

Really cool take on snake!

I was really fun, and looked great. The missing audio is kind of a bummer tough

Developer(+1)

Thank you.

I’ve had a nice idea for a music and effects. that would fit really well - unfortunately not enough time. Next time, the music will definitely be a bigger priority :)

Nice game. It feels good to get  super long convoy and to circle an enemy that as no chance to survive. A goal is kind of missing but as a game jam entry it demonstrates well that the core loop is already working well.

Nice job overall :)

Developer

Thank you,

I was kinda aiming for a short experience with a way to play for a long time, if the player is interested. I’ve had a score mechanic in mind, but didn’t have time to execute it.

its a cool concept, fun to play, good work

Developer

Thank you :)

The concept came right after I’ve read the theme. I was so excited about it I’ve forgot to eat for the rest of that day :D

Submitted(+1)

I had fun with it!  I really like the models and the colors, very striking.

Developer

Thank you,

The models were from asset store (the “trailer” car that you are buying was me remodeling the original car :D), but I’ve retextured them, to better fit the theme I was going for.

I am still considering diving deep into blender, to see if I can model at least something more than a cube or a rock (smaller cube) :D

Very cool game. The size is incredible for a game jam game. The tutorial was actualy fun and the art looked good. Sounds would have adhanced the experience, but I still really enjoyed the game!

Developer

Thank you.

The sounds were truly missed. I had picked the music already (I knew the genre I was looking for so I’ve put a playlist of royalty free music in the background while programming), but no time to include it.

different point of view to the snake game by  using a  car ,  a shop and the enemies. I really impressed by the ai of the enemy cars.  I loved the game

Developer

Thank you,

As I’ve said in one of the previous comments, the AI has super simple rules, but yet behaves in a pretty pleasing ways. Also the actual following of the player was an emergent behavior that was just a coincidence of the two implemented rules coming together. Shame that I haven’t had time to implement mines :D

Car-Snake :) fun idea

Developer

Thank you,

I’m just a bit bummed out that not everything I wanted was inside. Nvm, next time I will be better prepared :)

don't worry it is standard GameJam issue, I did it every time :)

Best game of snake I ever played :P.  Couldn't get it to run in Chrome, but ran (without sound) in Firefox. Simple controls, easily understood concept. Tons of potential.

Developer(+1)

Thank you :)

Interesting, I’m now curious on what is the issue. The audio though… Yeah - there is unfortunately no audio. I had selected a few tracks and actually had a brilliant idea for effects, but I didn’t have time to put it in. I’ll be better prepared next time.

If you want to know more, let me know :)

Just one word "Unbelievable" To think of making an tutorial with upgrades and a fun survival game!! This sure is a underratted project!! I am sure that me and the game will spend too much timr together!!  VERY BRILLIANT PROJECT!! for a 48 hours jam!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words :)

I’m just a bit bummed out I couldn’t add more content - I’ve prepared everything, so just couple of hours to get more weapons, AI variants, or carts. I’ll see if I can add more after the upload restriction will be lifted. Also was thinking of releasing the code - but I would need to clean it up a bit - it is super messy :D

If you want to know more, let me know :)

I didn't get at first that "Sides" was the Gun Upgrade, in the tutorial I bought "storage", encouraged by the fact of having 20 iron, so I initially thought that the "shoot" system was broken. But, it's an overall solid entry, and procedural generation is still nice to see in a jam.

Developer(+1)

Yes, that was a huge oversight on my part. Glad that you’ve overcome it thou and could enjoy the intended experience :)

The generation was actually super easy - three small “systems” working together.

  • generating not present tiles around a target (player)
  • random distribution from a set of objects for each tile (multiple instances - one for “resources” one for “decor”)
  • automatic removal based on distance to target (player)

If you want to know more, let me knoww, I’d be happy to respond :)

Submitted(+1)

Fun game, replayed it multiple times. Surprised to see such agressive ai in jam entry

Developer(+1)

Thank you.

The AI was actually super simple, It had two “motivations” One is to get as close to you as possible, while other is trying to go the same direction as you, then just interpolating based on the distance. I’ve constrained their inputs in the same way as players (constant accelerate and limited turning). It got super interesting when I made them a bit faster, or turn better than player. My fault for not having some enemies actually have those values. :D

If you want to know more, let me know :)

Submitted(+1)

Interesting take. I like the overall loop. Good job. now I want a bigger gun. haha

Developer

Thank you. The idea popped super quickly

Unfortunately, the content part was lacking - I had everything prepared, so adding new carts would be easy - but I didn’t have time.

If you have any questions / suggestions, let me know - I’d be happy to respond :)

Submitted(+1)

It's really nice that you had the time to make a tutorial !

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you :)

That was actually very easy - cobbled it together while I was too tired/dumb to work on anything more complicated. A simple state machine with hardcoded states, enabling/disabling components on enter and leave state.

If you want to know more, let me know :) I’d be happy to tell more :)
