This game is hilarious and the art style and presentation is amazing. As for the gameplay, I had a lot of trouble trying to protect any more than two notes at a time because of how open the map was, and I struggled to find where the survivors were spawning from until it was too late. Maybe some kind of teleport ability could make traversing the large map easier? (I'm thinking SCP-103 from Secret Lab style.) All in all an impressive amount of polish for a 48 hour jam.
I love the low poly ps1 era graphics, they really fit Slenderman! I wish there was a little more variety in the humans though, and maybe their death sfx volume could be lowered a bit. There's also a note tucked between two trees that makes it a bit difficult to quickly rewrite. Other than those criticisms, I really liked this game. The aforementioned graphics set it apart from everything else I've seen submitted, the material used for the twist is refreshing, and what I think really ties it all together for me:
The little animation of Slenderman writing a new note on a notepad. It's just really funny to me. Maybe add a subtle sigh whenever he has to do it lol!
Great game!
Awesome game, well made. Love the sounds graphics and the gameplay. I had a bug where I was stuck placing a note on a tree behind another tree, nothing major because it places it when your in direct line of sight.
I reached a 2000 score 🥳
This game is super addictive! I love the ragdoll effect when we get to scare people to death 🤣
The TWIST on the horror game! Legendary :) I loved the animation for him redrawing his notes, too bad I couldn't see my highscore :\
The movement of slender man feels FANTASTIC!! The animations are perfect! The art is amazing! AMAZING GAME!
Gameplay is fluid and feels great. Animations are the best I've seen in this jam. How did you make them?
I like that you can put the notes back.
one of my friends who is very good at animating and modeling revised the hand animations that midey made originally as well as created the drawing animation. I now credited him in the description as I just looked over the rules again and realized I need to credit external art (which includes his work since he isn’t on the team technically? He is my friend and could be considered on the team as we worked with him but doesn’t have an itch page)
The animator/modeler that did the hand animations is https://youtube.com/@hoistenize
Everything was on point: the animation, the gameplay, and even the PSYCHO streamer guest appearance. Great work!
I really liked this entry!
The atmosphere and overall vibe and graphics of the game are awesome. Really love the conbination of pixel graphics with low poly.
I think it would have been cool to try some mechanic in wich you cant move if you are being looked at or something like that, like in the og game.
Also i do not know why some of the enemies are like little Danny Devitos, but i love it.
Great entry! :)
I got 14416 pls beat that or I will release your IP address (127.0.0.1)
The smugness and swagger in the animation of the people stealing your notes is great. Ditto for the animation of slenderman drawing a new note, you can feel the annoyance.
It's good that you have more than one enemy type, but some map variety probably would have helped too. When it's just a sparse forest, I can always see all the way to the next target.
If there was a building that I had to get around, a tunnel, an industrial park, or even just a change in elevation, then there could be more strategy in which notes to prioritize reposting.
Also, I like that the people are visible by their flashlights in the distance, but the pixelated camera filter seems counterproductive to that feature. Right now, you can't easily preemptively strike people before they get to the tree. If the field was darker and their flashlights were brighter, it could make you more proactive than having to wait for them to take your notes.
