How does your game fit the theme?
It's a reversal of katamari's mechanics! Instead of navigating space, you play as the universe exerting gravitational pull.

Dont launch my dog! Very sweet looking game

Cute

Cute game! Extremely well done and captures the feel of a katamari game while being a flip on the idea. I particularly love how the objects being knocked loose become satellites for the planets.

This is exceptional! A 10/10 from me in all aspects

Hey! you guys seem to also have created and rigged a character in the time! I loved playing your game and the feeling of spinning Laika around is one of the best and most polished from the games I've played in the Jam! Congrats!

Developer(+2)

Thank you I'm so glad you liked it!!!! :D
I really like modeling and rigging simple characters like these. The characters I rig are usually much more complicated but just having a few joints and controls to place makes it so much fun. and claire did a great job on the animations.
Also I'm so in love with the snail you made for your game o_o

Developer(+2)

if you love that snail so much why don't you marry it 😳

Submitted(+2)

Simple but fun, and very cute. Poor little Laika!

Submitted(+2)

The visuals with the attraction and the debris are cool.
The game itself is very cute. Perfect for playing at 3am

Developer(+3)

Thanks! The gravitational pull visualization was a bit experimental so I'm really glad it came across well ☺️

Submitted(+3)

For the visualisation of gravitational attraction, is it a trail renderer ?

Developer(+3)

There's two different effects, both of which are made using the Shapes plugin for Unity! Both of them could most likely be done without the plugin, though.

The gravitational pull is a quad drawn between the planet and the dog, and it's using an arctan function to determine its angle using the difference in positions. The width and opacity changes based on the distance, too. This could be done in vanilla Unity by creating a procedural mesh and modifying its vertices, and adding a custom shader/material that creates the gradient with a slider for distance.

The orbiting effect is done with an arc that changes opacity + length based on the dog's velocity, but you could definitely do the same thing with a trail effect. Let me know if you want more detail!

Submitted(+1)

That's a great way to make effects !
I didn't know Freya Holmér (GOAT) had a Plugin. Thank you. I'm gonna buy it as fast as possible.

It's cool, its fun, it looks and sound great, it's relaxing, GG !!! In the end the cute little dog had some weird movement I don't know if it was intended or not. I think it's "too easy" to use the side of the screen to bounce back and forth with a planet near the edge, maybe instead of bouncing back the dog should appear on the other side ? (but maybe not it could break the physics)

Developer(+2)

you've touched on the main things that I personally would've wanted to work on/fix if we had a bit more time!!

thanks for playing im very happy you enjoyed it :>

Amzing idea for a game! I love random ideas like this one.

Submitted(+3)

I can't comprehend how you came up with that idea for a game, but it is so good. Very cozy experience, loved it!

Developer(+3)

we just used our brains and a bit of demonic summoning ritual and the idea came to us fully formed ^-^

im glad you enjoyed it!!!

Submitted(+3)

Wow, I do the same thing to generate ideas, except the "use our brain" part.

Developer(+2)

Thank you! We did an multi-step intensive analysis of what the game industry was most lacking in and the answer was launching dogs into space 😌

Submitted(+3)

I love the cute art, and the dialogue was really fun

Submitted(+3)

BRILLIANT! Somehow zen and relaxing as well... oh to be a little dog in the gentle grasp of a kind universe.

Developer(+3)

🥺🥺🥺

Developer(+3)

This description is so delightful, thank you for playing our game!

Submitted(+3)

Suprisingly oddly satisfying and relaxing. Cool idea reminds me old Yeti games, where you threw the penguins to highest distances. Unfortunately, this is different concept. Love the physics it must have been hard work.

Submitted(+3)

I couldn't turn down any dog games, ahaha. Such a charming idea and it's really nicely made, I love it.

Submitted(+2)

cute idea, nice Presentation, but i didn't understand the theme in the game, but i think i missunderstand katamari's mechanics, btw nice work for this short time !

you can check and rate my game if you want :)

Submitted(+3)

I love the dog and the eyes! The music is also amazing, loving it

Submitted(+3)

Take care laika! Fun game, very zen.

Submitted(+3)

What the doug doin'?

Submitted(+3)

Very polished, love the intro where "would you?" fades in, really great cutscenes and gameplay. Got to the end and bruh is that the dogs butthole?! *bark*
