The roles are reversed, because player is playing in rpg world, but as a sword, which also makes them pickupable for enemies, further reversing the role.

Playing as the Mechanical Turk is an interesting concept :)

Pretty fun game! I managed to reach the end.
I really liked the execution of the idea, would be interesting to see a polished, complete version!

Hey, we had similar-ish game ideas, haha. Executed very differently though. Yours is really cool! Playing as the weapon is fun twist that I quite enjoyed.

Developer

Thanks for leaving a comment! Will definitely check out yours entry, always interested in related ideas :d

-Enjoyment: Oh I really liked this!

-Creativity: Very cool Idea and I liked the unique over-the-shoulder view for an autobattler!  Keep working on it for sure!

-Presentation: The pixel art is a great start! Some game juice would help a lot (sound and effects)

-Neat game indeed, I hope you learned a lot!! Please check out my non-creative entry when you can :D

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving a kind comment :) I did learn quite a bit, some of which is definitely not visible in the game, but it's always just nice to expand your skills during the jam. I will definitely check out your entry as well!

Hey really cool idea! I like the whole concept of trying to play as the sword. Interesting to have the ability to go against what the hero wants to do. I did finish it and got to level 5 (it would have been cool to have the reverse that shown continue with more levels! Maybe in the next instalment) though it didn't seem like I was at much risk at making the hero mad. I was mostly using lifesteal since that was a good combo of health but also dealing damage.

Again good idea, and I know with a game jam we can't get everything in! I think just a few extra things would help the feel. Most noticeable might be the lack of sounds, I personally think some very basic sounds or music or ambience would have added quite a bit. Also felt like I was fighting the same guy over and over again!\. But these are minor points and I'm sure if you had more time stuff like this would have been added in.

Overall though very cool take on the theme and interesting game! Good work!!

Developer

Thanks for leaving a comment! To be honest the original idea was that after you get to the 5th level you then go in reverse, defeating the heroes in order to get to the level 0, which would further emphasize the theme, but as it is with jams, I didn't have enough time. And about all other points, I will keep them in mind as I agree with them all, and they are something I plan to change and improve when I work on this a bit more. Once again thanks for the feedback!

Loved the concept so much. Would absolutely love to see it developed further.

A unique idea that fits the theme well!

I too am a solo developer, and honestly I think that's fairly impressive for a 48 hour jam! Don't beat yourself about stuff that aren't 100% polished or finished, that's part of the jam :)

Well done :)

Thanks a lot :d

I like the idea of playing as the weapon. Its definitley something I'd want to explore more. Cool interpretation of the theme!

Developer

Thank you very much!

I feel like this is a cool idea that could be expanded on in a general RPG, like having to weigh a cursed weapon's abilities with its energy. Great job!

Thanks for the kind comment!

Cool concept that can be expanded or improved, but very nice for 48 hrs hours! I hope you are thinking on remaking this in the near future :)

Developer

Thanks for the comment! And ye I definitely plan to work on this a bit more, a lot of the ideas I had at the beggining of the jam were not finished and I got some more of them in the meantime :d

I liked the presentation, kind of reminded me of the first elder scroll game. It could have used some audio feedback to make the enemies and attacks feel more alive.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment! Hard agree on the audio feedback, it do be lacking. And I'm happy you like the presentation!

Submitted(+1)

That's remind me of those old RPG game

Developer

Thanks! It was a bit intended, so I am glad it came through like that

Cool idea! I finished the game on my first try and i don't realy get how i could lose (Slash+lifesteal is op). The animation at the end is nice and god job for doing this alone on only two days!

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving a comment! Yup the balance is a bit unfinished, near the end I even made it easier in case it would be too frustrating. Definitely something I need to improve.

Very cool programmer art :D

Developer

Thanks! :d

It's unfortunate that the idea's potential can't shine here. You really gotta hit the right balance here to make it work well, and that's just not happening in 48 hours. For example, right now there's very little intervention needed, and the energy is very generous, so the entire concept loses a lot of its point. But with some time to tune those values, this idea could go a lot of places I think, I like it! Execution is solid for one person, too.

Developer

Thanks for playing!
It's very nice to hear that the idea has potential, and true, I didn't really do it justice due to time constraints.  Also I was worried it may be not interactive enough, so it's good to hear that it's true, will try balance that. Thanks again!

I like the idea that you need to more or less comply to wielder's will because It makes you consider If It is worth It to comply now and make bad move or you can make your own move and hope that on the next move wielder will do what you want. Besides that obviously audio would be greatly appreciated, even good music alone makes a world of difference!

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving a comment!
I am very glad you like that idea as it was the main point of the gameplay, so it's cool that it came through at least a bit. And on the audio, definitely agree, it's very much needed. It was one of those things that I constantly pushed back and didn't have time to do in the end.

Interesting and pretty fun game! Kinda gave me a bit of a pokemon fight vibe :)

Sometimes the hero would do a bunch of attacks without me, which is a bit frustrating (especially if the hero ends up dying because of it).. Might be better/clearer if the the hero always did one move then used the sword?

Nice job overall!

Developer

Thanks for the comment!
Ye sometimes it will happen that hero will just not use the sword for a long time, and I get the frustration. Didn't manage to test it fully during the jam. I like your idea of alternating between hero and sword attacks. Maybe I will try to make it so after the jam, thanks!

Had a lot of fun playing it . the idea of being the weapon and being picked up by anyone is really smart

Thank you for the comment! I am glad you had fun
