How does your game fit the theme?
Insecticides: Bugs vs Aliens is a tower assault game, where you play as the AI, sending a hoard of enemies towards a player and their towers. By swapping roles with the computer, you can see past the boundaries of the players screen, and outwit the player by predicting how they will play.

Interesting concept!

I really like the strategy involved in this game! It's really fun trying to find out which aliens are the best to send at the bugs. I also like the variety of types of bugs and aliens, it really makes it fun to plan my attack. Great work!

If you have time, I'd love it if you'd check out my submission!

This reminds me of Plants vs. Zombies. The artwork and music are fantastic, perfectly matching the game's atmosphere. It's  great!!!

I really like the presentation of this game. It took me a minute to really fully understand what was going on, but after that I had a nice time making some bugs go splat! The deathstar is a lot of fun to see lumbering down the lane, and overall this was just a cute and satisfying experience.

Nice work!

Gameplay was great, would love to see some more strategy added if you keep working on the game.  Overall very good submission, nice work!

thank you!!

Nice idea! And well executed! Would say it was a bit OP to save up for the biggest ship. But ignoring that, this is a fun little game! Good job!:))

Developer

thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it

Very nicely made! Saving up your mana to send huge waves of ships is a bit overpowered, but it was still fun to play and try to find a strategy to defeat the player.

thanks for giving it a go! I agree a bit of balance could have made a big difference

This was so wonderfully put together! Full presentation marks from me. I loved the high degree of polish.

An actual game with multiple levels and progression? In 48 hours? Wow. Great job.

Very intuitive and pleasant to play. I encourage you to work on it more and add polish/juice. Cheers!

Developer

thanks for the kind words!! I'm glad you enjoyed it

Really funny idea and I enjoyed playing this one well done! :)

thanks for giving it a go

Nice idea. It was a little easy to just rush down 1 lane and win. just put a death star and spam weak dudes. Maybe if the hearts were connected one to each lane it would be better?

Developer(+1)

that's a great idea for balancing to force them to conquer each lane. Thanks for the feedback

a whole death star and empire thrown at insects, man thats hilarious!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoy the concept!!

Interesting spin on the PvZ concept! The mosquitos finally have a chance to redeem themselves after being annoying for so long.

Developer

hahaha! If taking down a death star isn't redeeming for them then I don't know what will!

I actually really love the concept! Quite fun! I'm pretty sure the speed controls is a key reason I kept playing for so long, not having to wait as much.  It was fun to try different strategies on the three different lanes, letting the AI build up one lane, only to send a bunch of the fast ones to the less-defended lane. I could see myself playing a fully fleshed out version for an hour -- I think the AI player's intelligence is really what makes it - it really plays like a normal player would. Nice work!

Developer

thanks for taking the time and I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊

Cute take on reverse Plants vs Zombies. The addition of the speed button helps a lot, and including a tutorial in a jam game is always a nice touch. It's also smart that the mana caps at 20 so you can't just AFK for awhile and spam out a whole bunch of ships lol. The player AI is pretty decent too. Nice job creating your own music and sound too!

I'd appreciate it if you check out my game too if you have a minute!

Developer

thanks for the feedback!! We will check it out!

Nice job!

Great game and excellent implementation of the theme. Not enough games let you throw a whole Death Star at a mosquito!

This was a... blast. I love Plants vs Zombies, so I appreciated getting to play it from the other side.

Reverse Tower Defense was one of my ideas for the jam, but I dismissed it because I thought it might have been too difficult to pull of in a short amount of time. You seem to have pulled it off, nice job!

Developer

thank you! We did struggle with balancing the levels properly with the time available
