How does your game fit the theme?
We have a very cute lizard (with scales) and he wants to climb (scale) up a tree which happens to be very big (in scale)

Have you considered turning this into a roguelike after the jam ends? I feel like the skill ceiling of the controls is really high, and you wouldn’t have to do much unlockable content to keep the game interesting—Just the basic movement system. I could easily see this game having randomly generated layers of the tree, maybe a lower section with exposed roots or a middle section with thicker trunk sections you can move on. (But that’s just my opinion, of course! Do what you want!)
I have thought about it, I’m still thinking of ways to improve the movement as the current method has questionable performance implications and bugs(platform to platform snapping is a big one that broke during dev but I never fixed as overlapping surfaces are rare in the jam level generator)
The grappling system too has multiple points where it could be improved(for example, pivot grapple is looking real sad because of the pull being too strong)
I also have ideas for a constraint based level generator to replace the current template based one.
And of course the bats need one hell of a rework.
But yes, id like to expand further on this game with a proper full release eventually.
Really interesting movement mechanics, and I enjoyed finding speed run strats. It felt a bit like Getting Over It, in that once you know what to do, you can get pretty far pretty quickly.
The controls and graphics were a bit jank. I sometimes just randomly flew of into a direction, or got stuck between some branches, but played off as funny for the most part, so it's probably not a big issue. Oh, and the music (?) got real repetitive real fast.
Overall, a cool experience with a novel feeling movement mechanic. Nicely done!
Absolutely loved the little gecko and the visuals. The soundscape was a rather grating though.
And the bat came up way too early. I was still learning how to be a gecko and then I have this d***head screaming at me even though it's clearly daytime.
The concept would really shine with the focus being put on letting the player learn and master the movement mechanics. Like I found it super enjoyable to be able to skip the tutorial part by jumping and swinging off the top of the first branch.
Really enjoyed the movement mechanics in this!
The game is super unique with a very interesting movement mechanic. There's some little buggy moments and the music was a bit grating which is a shame because the other sound effects were great. Very well made for 96 hours!
Nice work! The graphics looked great. Couldn’t seem to get the hang of the controls and my camera peaced out but otherwise was fun!
Really liked this game , great moves and great lizard sprites ^^
what a cute little Gecko! I like how it moves, but I could'nt get it to defeat the bat just yet.
Sometimes a bit buggy, when I fell down to lower branches, the camera didn't follow but I also didn't die. Not sure which of those two was supposed to happen but I'm sure your Gecko loves to eat those bugs.
The music is annoying and the controls are weird.
But i don't care because there's a Geko🦎! Just Look At It! 🦎👀

Love the gecko movement! Its so weird but so satisfying at the same time lol!
Really clean movement and fun gameplay. I did manage to bug the camera at one point getting lost off screen. I found the movement to feel really good and loved the use of the procedural animation.
I love how the gecko looks and moves. The movement is very fun and unique, specially for a jam game
Outstanding idea. Getting used to navigating with a flick of a tongue was also very enjoyable.
Super creative and I love how it fits the theme!
loved the game, it was weird but in a good way.
hahaha I love your description under "How does your game fit the theme?". Love the mechanics of the game! I love how you can swing with your tongue and climb around trees and jump to a new branch.
My game is pretty similar in a way but we use a chameleon who swings with his tongue instead.
Heh, I am not the only person who went the lizard route!
The tongue mechanic is fun, though I did fight controls a bit while playing!
licks eyeball mlem
this gives me foddian vibes, pretty cool!
