How does your game fit the theme?
We were really interested in the idea of building machines out of machines. The original vision for the game was building small components that would combine to create larger and larger mechanisms. Ultimately, the game didn't quite turn out the way we planned, but there are still a lot of elements of the theme at play! For example, when you build a new machine, the components used to make it shrink down to fit in a 1x1 tile.

Thank you for playing!

Nice puzzles ! But now I'm hungry T_T. Also the concept of sub puzzles clearing a part of the level and being used in other parts is pretty cool

This is a really great puzzle game, I loved the sound effects and the visual style!  Making sushi is a super cute idea too.
The only real problem this game has for me is it's very difficult to tell which direction the conveyor belts are moving.  I think they only have two frames of animation so it's very ambiguous, I was wrong about half the time.  I would adjust them so they have 3 or 4 frames of animation, and the detail is clearly going from one side to the other.

Awesome job!

I love the game and the “factory” theme behind it :D

The only issue is that the conveyors are really hard to tell apart, as others have mentioned.

Really nice art and sounds! I wish there was a better way to tell which direction a conveyor belt is facing, messed it up a few times :D . The puzzles are enjoyable. A pretty fun game overall!

Well done. Good artstyle and animation which makes all experience smooth. Really enjoyed it.

That's a cool idea! I was thinking about a sushi roll conveyor belt restaurant factory game recently and... here we go, there's the basis :) well done

This game was a delightful experience! The sushi theme is super fun and unique, and I loved the challenge as the puzzles got trickier. The art style is cute and the gameplay was smooth. Had a great time playing this, well done!

Simple yet well done puzzle game! Congrats! texts were a bit blurry so they wera a bit hard to read for me, but I had a great time making sushis overall! :)

Developer

Yeah, I’m still figuring out all the nuances of text handling in Godot. But glad you enjoyed it!

This was very fun to play. Great sounds, arts and mechanics. If there was only only thing I might have wanted, it would have been that I would have liked to have had some of the more important controls like resetting the levels be given right at the start (I messed up the first level because I wasn't quite sure what it is all about yet and I didn't know how to reset it, so I had to restart the game). Also it could have been also nice to have like a pause menu where tutorials given so far can be reviewed. Nevertheless, this is a great game for a game jam submission!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I originally tried to teach more controls from the start, but it ended up being a lot of text onscreen at once (This is also why cursor rotation is introduced later), so we opted for a first level where you never had to destroy any of the conveyor belts, just place them and orient them. Still, I can understand how not knowing about the reset button could be annoying, especially if you missed the arrows on the conveyors, which can be hard to spot.

Well made and complete game. Youve done incredibly well with this.

Mmmm sushi, a very fun concept, I enjoy the spaghetti that can happen to win the game. 🍝

Developer(+1)

Haha, I never would have thought to call a mess of conveyor belts “spaghetti,” but here we are! Thank you so much for playing!

But still its well designed despite you say its not according to what you intended. But this game you made is not less than a gem. Using simplicity in the games have been the key i have seen in this jam

The visuals are also good

Be sure to check mine as well :)

Developer

That is high praise! Thank you so much for the kind words!

The Linux build does not work out of the box since the .pck file is missing. However, it's possible to just download the Windows build, rename its .pck file from it to Umami_Linux.pck and then run it with the Linux executable. (A .pck file is the file containing the actual game files: scripts, assets, scenes etc if you don't specifically tell Godot to pack everything into the executable itself)

As for the game, I like the idea of shrinking parts of it. There's a good amount of potential there to go further, like reusing already built and shrunken machines in later levels. The game also looks really cute, great job on the artstyle! Some ideas for improvement: The belts could better indicate what direction they are facing, and a recipe book would be nice, sometimes I had to guess which ingredients create what end product.

Developer

Thanks for the tip! The Linux build was the one build I didn’t get to test before posting.

Awesome little factorio/automation type game. Loved the art style. Would play again. The interpretation on the theme was quite cool.

One thing I would criticize is that i wasn't really sure what the machines properly. Now that i've read the description you left again, it makes sense, but a first-time player might need a more simple, in-game explanation in to how the machines etc actually work :)

This game has easily the best puzzle design and puzzle pacing I've seen so far this jam. Mechanics were introduced naturally, the difficulty curve felt right, and everything made sense. It's also pretty, sounds nice, and has some quality VFX juice. Some more QOL conveyor belt placement would've been nice (I wish I could click+drag), but was by no means necessary. I do wish that there were some later puzzles that utilized the more complex recipes, as it felt like those were introduced and then never used again, but jam time limits are jam time limits. I liked this game a lot.

The Linux download didn't work for me (I got an error about a 'missing .pck file'). Fortunately I was able to play the Windows version through WINE.

Thank you so much! Sorry about the Linux build—That was the only one I didn’t get to test. But glad you were still able to play!

A sushi puzzle with some good music in the background. What more do you need! Loved plauing the game.  I hope you make a full game out of this later on. Would love to play more. Good luck.

Nice puzzle with a good amount of polish! I took me a bit to understand that I needed to do the level in two beats for the criss cross x), but it was still a cool puzzle game, I really enjoyed it, congratulation!

Thank you!
