Oh! This was a lot of fun!
If you ever end up making this into a full game, I have just one suggestion. Have medals or rewards of some sort for being fast. I feel like that would encourage the player to run the car a little faster and even to find shortcuts, making the game more hectic!~
Glad you enjoyed it! I would like to add a timer to incentivize going faster. And perhaps a decay on the car's speed, so you have to keep going back to the accelerate button to keep it moving.
Thank you for playing!
imo, adding a timer to levels doesn't really feel like it incentivises players to go faster, it forces them to. I think some players may find that frustrating, however it's your game, so make it how you wanna.
I'm just throwing in my two cents~
Really nice one! I loved the concept! (Also on the last level it's way easier to get to the finish trough the forest:)
Hah yeah I wasn't able to balance the levels super great before the jam ended. Also little secret: you can hit the cones and they will go flying, which allows you to take a few shortcuts
Thanks for playing!
Really nice take on the theme, awesome art and fun gameplay. Really nice job!
VERY VERY FUN puzzle game !! It was a bit hard to handle the speed but running from one box to another to quickly change the car direction is super fun and it become quickly challenging. Good job !
Really fun and simple game, with a good style to boot! The character movement did kind of remind me of Drawn to Life, and although it did feel a bit slow, that's likely more chalked up to me being overly careful and cruising by in the car. Definitely a fun concept!
Really cute. It feels like you focused on the core of what you wanted to do quite well, and therefore it feels more complete (if that makes sense).
While I’d seen the idea before (
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
for example – recommended game if you didn’t get the idea from there b.t.w.), the addition of hazards within the ‘smaller’ space is new, and a welcome twist – though it does make it right difficult at times.(The description wasn’t quite clear if the art was made for and during the jam, or just by this artist, but I’m going to assume good faith here and handle it as if it is.)
Yes! Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime was definitely a source for the idea, as was Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story lol. And also yes, ALL the art and music was made specifically for this game during the jam! I'll update the description to make that more clear, thank you for pointing it out.
The art, and 2D movement reminds me of the original scribblenauts for the DSI. And the gameplay was good. I accidentally managed to go around the entirety of the last level.
Damn, that's basically two games in one. Must have been quite the effort, well done! Could use a scoring system though, to reward fast driving.
Thanks! I plan to add a bit more to keep the game interesting. Namely, a timer to incentivize speed, a health system so you don't lose on your first crash, and of course more levels.
Really solid idea, and I wish you put a little bit in the UI where we can change the volume. My ears got absolutely blasted when I opened the game for the first time, so please consider putting in a menu right from the start.
I loved this game, insanely cool idea. it was a bit difficult one the first try, but once I understood the controls it was so much fun
I have a bad habit of making games that are too hard lol! Thanks for playing!
Maybe I'm just bad but the game is really difficult, I almost did not step on gas, because otherwise i almost immediately crashed.
For the style, the two panels have their respective style and they work on their own but I feel like they don't go very well together
All the art was made by the same artist, but it's always a challenge to blend together 2D and 3D visuals in a way that feels consistent.
Ahah I'm no artist but it is already difficult for me to be consistent in 2d so I imagine mixing 2d and 3d is not easy, especially in a week-end.
I am awful at this game but the idea is so crazy I have to love it. Never seen something like this before
We wanted to make it unique! Thank you for playing!
