Really well-made puzzles!! There were so many mechanics that freshened up the game every couple levels

Developer

Thanks for checking the game out! I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzles.

Very fun to play! I got into it immediately and had a great session. Awesome work!

Cool concept! There might be a lack of feedback when finishing levels because the delay of switching levels confused me but that might be my low volume. Nevertheless, well executed game with well made music and art!

Thanks for giving us feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the game. A couple people have mentioned the victory sound so it’s a fair point to mention. Def something we’ll look into as the player should have more visual feedback on level completion

pretty cool concept, i love the electric effects as u zoom around ૮₍˃̵֊ ˂̵ ₎ა

We’re glad you enjoyed the game! Our artist did an amazing job with the lightning effect on jump and he’ll be happy to see the compliment.

Thoroughly enjoyed this entry! Good use of the core mechanics with a nice art style. Well done :)

The idea is very creative with intuitively simple mechanics. Love the artstyle and feels super polished as a game already! Had so much fun playing and tinkering around with my tiny little blob of a robot. Great job of making this game, can be really expanded into more in the future. :)

:sparkles~1: Game Review Time :sparkles~1:

What I liked

The puzzles were relatively simple, but well designed. The sprite work was readable and the background and foreground did not blend in any way that caused issues. Idle animation was good for the main character. The game had a good variety of levels. Music was present, and there was sound feedback when moving. Gamejammer pro tip: A level select is a really good idea. Props for having it. BUT: include a debug method to unlock all levels. This lets people gain access to a vertical slice of your game. It allows streamers to skip sections they're really stuck on and demonstrate more of the game to viewers. (I know you included K for if you get stuck, but all information should be communicated within the game) I want to highlight level 2. I'm a really big fan of hot it introduced the Exposed Wires of Doom ™️ it's ironically quite difficult to create a simple level that introduces concepts without coming off as either too wordy or talking down to the player, and you nailed it here.

What I didn't like, and how to address them.

Whilst there's music and movement based sound feedback, which is more than other games can boast, I'm personally not a fan of the sound effect used by your game, it doesn't feel  Zappy™️ enough. Makes the overall character feel like a floaty little man rather then a metal duder. I also feel like there's a few sounds missing: Victory, Death, being the most important ones. Whilst the animation on the main character is lovely, at the beginning of almost every level, there's very few other animated parts. I would recommend adding a small animation to the exposed wires. Maybe a blinking red light to circuit boxes which switches to green when activated and some small animated gears or pistons for the foreground level geometry. I'm not sure I like the laser pointer length too much? But I've actually struggled to make one I'm happy with for years. I'd maybe recommend adding a little recital at the very end of where the player is going to land, as it would make long distance jumps less unpredictable.

Potential Improvements

  • Add in a simple fade in / transition. It really helps polish up the game, and covers up the abrupt resetting of all game pieces.
  • Exposed wires could make a very occasional spark particle effect.
  • Add a small pitch variation to the sound effects you're generating. This allows you to get a lot more out of 8 bit sounds with very little effort.
  • An Undo button would be really good to have. There were moments I was begging for one.
  • Maybe music should pitch down the less energy you have?

Overall Thoughts

A very charming game that has a lot of potential. A solid level design core to it and some small improvements here and there that can really polish up the game. A post jam update would really make this shine and make it a good portfolio piece for your game development endeavours.

Small correction: I was wrong about the victory thing and death sound. I was just playing the game with low volume. Woops x3

Really great game! Had so much fun while playing, the music and SFX are really good too!

Really cool concept here! I also appreciate the skip level feature! I was able to experience more of the game and see the cool level design at work! Great entry team!

Really good and polished game!  Congratulations!

Interesting puzzle game, some elements were a little hard to understand. Good job.

Puzzles are nice! I don't think there was a part I got stuck on that I could blame the game for lol

Five stars! This game was so fun! Incredibly impressive, and super polished. I got all 3 stars on each level, and many I beat with fewer teleports than even the three stars. I loved when I figured out the perfect alignment to get in as few moves as possible. You added a bunch of red herrings, which I didn't mind, because they made me feel cool when I was able to skip them. This is my favorite submission I've played so far. I would happily play this for many more hours if there was more content.

Developer

We're so glad you enjoyed the game! I'm happy that someone finally mentioned the red herrings lol! It was fun giving some levels a bunch of paths for the player to pick from with varying levels of effectiveness. Congrats and getting even better scores on some levels than the star count. We had a few levels we felt would be too mean to make the 3 star the perfectly optimal path. We wanted to add a secret 4th dev star to some levels, but we ran out of time. Even though the game won't award them to you, I bestow upon you the coveted secret 4th stars :D

Nice art and music! The game was enjoyable, I had fun with the puzzles, congratulation for making this much content for the jam :D!

I really enjoyed the game. It's simple and very relaxing to play. At first, I thought it would be too many levels, but it was actually nice to get through them all :)

Submitted(+2)

Simple but REALLY really cool. And has a lot of levels too! Deserves to have much more recognition!

Best game I've played in this jam (but it could be harder tho)

Submitted(+1)

This game was quite easy, and I'm craving for more. Honestly, it won't hurt user experience if you include the full length of the trajectory lines. I still managed to beat the game without it tho, solid 5/5 for me.

Super cool game! I loved the mirror that made the tp bounce, it felt very satisfying.

Keep making cool stuff :)
