I really liked how everything was physically present in the scene, without any UI!

It gets quite challenging when you start creating elixirs!
If you continue developing the game, try to find a way to make the formulas intuitive and easy to memorize. It would be so satisfying to become a skilled alchemist who no longer needs to use the book! (It’s probably already possible to get that good, but my short-term memory isn’t that great 😅)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the lovely words! Yes, we really wanted all the info to be diegetic, but that came at the cost of readability in the book. I think with some proper balancing, it would be great to start memorising the recipes! We've played through it dozens of times now and only remember maybe 3 or 4!

The game is very pretty and the level of polish is really impressive for a jam game.  Especially with all these animations and stuff.

Developer

Thank you! We are really happy with how it turned out!

Really nice visuals, and the gameplay is good fun to match! Unfortunately the text on the pages wasn't appearing when playing on my laptop, but I could get it to work on my phone which is pretty impressive in itself. This is very impressive for a jam, feels like a full and well-polished experience

Developer

Thank you! We have heard of a few issues like that. Does your laptop run Linux by chance? I'm also very impressed it ran on your mobile! We tried really hard for optimisation this year, but that was not intended! Ha!

Submitted(+1)

Love how it feels like you really are there, flipping through pages and scrambling to create the correct potion to fulfill the order.

Developer

Why thank you! That's very kind!

Submitted(+1)

Such a fun game! love the vibe of it and that you have to flip though book like you are actually in the shop! I think the only thing is the book flip takes a while to process but it is fun nonetheless

Developer

Thank you! Yes, we found the book turning quite satisfying, but it certainly needs some fine tuning!

Wow! Fab game, great work! It has a super cozy feel, the gameplay is easy enough to pickup and yet very enjoyable! The music and design style are also incredible. Great job!

Developer

thank you for the kind words! So glad you enjoyed it :D

The art is reaaaaally good! I had fun playing it though I would have liked a bit more theme-related content!

Developer(+1)

Our interpretation of the theme was scaling up a business, with the amount of tasks needing to be balanced to increase the difficulty. If we were to add more to the game, I'm sure there are more ways to incorporate it! But thank you for the praise, I hope you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

That was fun to play anyway :D

Submitted(+1)

I really like the art style and the beginning concept! I had some difficulties to enjoy after it evolved to fast to try matching so many potions recipes, maybe showing less information would be creating a better pacing! The font also seemed difficult to read.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Sorry you had some difficulty. We were worried about the book being hard to read but that's why we had the option to zoom in on it. We wanted the player to be able to choose any recipe to make in the later rounds, but maybe there is a better way of showing all that information in a different way! Thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

What a fun and simple game this is!! When such a simple mechanic can be fun and relaxing. Well done! Loved the music as well :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

That is really cozy game, I would really like to see more of it

Developer

Thank you! We're glad you liked it! Cozy is the vibe we were going for :)

Submitted(+1)

This is extremely impressive! The visuals, the music. Right up my alley!

Developer

We're glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the kind words, the artists will be happy to read your praise of their work!

Extremely well polished game with a good gameplay loop and multiple difficulty settings. Loved the sound design all around. Normally I’d offer some critique on things that could be done better, but ngl the only thing I could possibly point out would be the web version making the book text a little bit hard to read due to how the pages curve. Superb entry!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! You can press enter or escape to pause and zoom in on the book if that helps at all :)

Thank you for your kind words!

Wanted to give this game a try, but both using Firefox and Chromium, the book is completely empty for me. Looking into my browser logs, I get "Hidden/Universal Render Pipeline/Edge Adaptive Spatial Upsampling shader is not supported on this GPU (none of subshaders/fallbacks are suitable)", which I suspect might be the reason. Well, I guess it's on me for playing on a toaster. Too bad, looks like a cool game :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a try! We've had it reported on Linux this was happening, though this is the first we've heard of other platforms.

Sorry you couldn't give it a go, there is a desktop download option if you're running PC!

Submitted(+1)

Oh, I do run the browser on Linux, so maybe that's the problem after all? Thanks for the answer!

Developer

Ah! Well at least there's some consistency! Unfortunately we don't have any linux devices to test on so we never encountered the issue. If I'm well prepared next yeah I'll try and put a linux partition on an old PC :D

Wow the graphic and sound quality, it's so juicy !

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind words!

I think that there is a lot of good polish. The visuals and sound design is very good. Personally, the gameplay is a bit monotonous. I wish there was a bit more t o spice it up. Otherwise, great job!

It would be awesome if you could rate my game too!

Developer

Thank you for playing and your kind words!

WOW I'm so impressed by your game. It is so fun, fits the theme so well, is so polished : I could literally buy it as is. The tutorial is very nice, the mechanics very well introduced. the game is addictive, has a nice game loop, great art and nice music and sound design overall. 5/5

I'm sure you have more ideas on different challenge that could be implemented and I look forward to it. I also know you still need to update it : maybe the physics of the objects were sometimes annoying because of them bouncing around but I took it as a challenge to redo the exact same thing I last did but with the extra pressure of the time running out and it became even more fun. Same thing with the book : I didn't put the game in full screen mode right away so I couldn't see some part of it. But again, it made for a fun challenge just like if part of the book were ripped : I had to test out different recipe or memorize them even better to get it right. Maybe a shelf where I could organize all of my vials and potions could be nice. Also I don't know if anyone commented on this but when you click on the empty potion it generates a bunch of them. which gave me the most cheated score.

It got me interested in the other games you made ;)

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the kind and very thorough feedback! We're very proud of this game, we think its our most polished yet!

We typically don't go back and update our game jam games, but multiple sources have insisted we take this one further :D We all have full time jobs and other life commitments, but if we make the top 20 we'll have a serious discussion about how we would take this further!

Love you idea of a shelf or something to sort vials. We wanted the physics to be a little silly because its a game jam and we want to make people giggle, but if we took it further we'd have to take another look at this. We quite liked that the physics meant things piled up and made it more difficult to find vials, which meant stockpiling them wasn't necessarily the best play :D

Ah yes that was a dev feature that I thought I had removed but somehow found its way back in. We're not too worried though as it doesn't break the game, just a little treat for certain people!

I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and hope you enjoy our others (although they're not nearly as polished as this one so be warned :D )

Fun game, I liked the concept. great job!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

This was really inventive and fun! Bloom was a bit high, but otherwise I really enjoyed the visuals and gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Unfortunately the artist that was going to balance the bloom was unable to attend the last day so we didn't get time to resolve it, but I'm glad you enjoyed it in spite of that!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool concept! I love the detailed art and the challenge of creating potions. Some bits were a bit tricky to manage, but overall it was a blast!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for playing and for your kind words!

Thanks! I'm sorry, but I have a request. Could you please evaluate our game if you have time?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I have given it a go and left a comment! :) I just had to make a queue of games from those who had commented us. Unfortunately it kept softlocking so I couldn't get far in the game but if I get time I'll revisit it and try again.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Very entretaining. Loved the art style and music as well. As a color blind person, it was a bit hard to see which vial was which, but since selecting them marked them on the book it was fine.

Developer(+1)

Yes, we did worry about the difficulty for people who struggle with colour. We tried making unique icons and names for each ingredient, but with the readability of the book and the amount of items, it needed a ton more work! I'm glad you were able to enjoy it regardless! Thank you for playing!
