Decidedly adorable! Receiving an eviction notice to deliver to a snake standing right next to me was definitely not something I was expecting to do today, but here we are!
The game is so whole some and cute! The cat house model is among my favorites. I enjoyed the vibes a lot, it does get a little repetitive running around sometimes but overall I loved it! The writing is funny and poignant as well.
Aw thanks! I made the various houses, and really appreciate the recognition, it means the world! Glad you enjoyed the game :)
Super cute game! It's a little repetitive but I really liked the static 2d characters in the 3d world. The simple animations really worked well.
Great job!
Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!
The world and chill vibes for this game are pretty good. It was a little awkward to only have the sideways running animation for the player compared to the otherwise beautiful character sprites, but perspective is hard! 2D in a 3D world is even harder. Still looks amazing though.
The gameplay missed the mark a bit for me. I'm all for the cozy delivery game, but I felt really aimless. The world is almost too big, and there are too many characters. I think this would have benefitted from a small tutorial level where you have one package to deliver to one person and they give you something to give to someone else. That would help players better learn the gameplay loop before opening it up to the entire world. And have that tutorial be very clear about directions. I understand some of the packages had addresses on them, but I couldn't find any signposts to help figure out where I was. Maybe more descriptive names like "Bucket House Lane" instead of "Little Way" or things like that.
Jam games benefit from being really quick to get to the point, and cozy games really want you to slow down and relax. Mixing the two is a tough job, and I think you're pretty close. Great job to the team. Keep making games!
Side note - I did a delivery where a snake ordered frogs legs from the grocer and all I could think is, "Surely a village of all animals means there are also sentient frogs. Are the dog and snake just really open about their murder-y side hustle?"
Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful comment! Would you believe we initially had more characters planned? Our team was two writers, two artists and one programmer, so we did the work we could do. :) Definitely agree on the size and layout of the world, and how you're dropped into it—that's stuff to rethink on a second pass.
Also, I agree that an ideal Jam Game is punchy and to the point, but sometimes you just gotta make what you're feeling.
(Maybe we ought to have more of an underlying plot about just how much murder happens in this sleepy little town)
Omg so cuuuute, I can see myself really loving a version with a more detailed environment! I did find that rotating the camera felt a little unresponsive (e.g. the camera rotated very little with wide mouse movements), but that's small in the grand scheme of the game. Nice work!
It's amazing how widely the camera sensitivity seems to range from computer to computer. I put a sensitivity option in the pause menu (esc) - is it too slow even at the highest setting?
Thanks for playing! :]
Oh, I didn't notice that actually! That makes it a lot better (although I still find it a taaad bit slow at the highest setting), but I think at that point the effect is pretty minor. Thanks for flagging that!
This actually helped me figure out that I was implementing the camera movement wrong - it turns out that different screen sizes get different camera speeds right now. That's an easy fix now I know what's wrong, so thank you again for your feedback!
Love the mix of 2D art and 3D environments. The art is very cute. I feel the environment's colors are a bit oversaturated, but it's still a fun game.
Very cute game! I loved the mix of 2D characters with 3D environments! The dialogues were also pleasant to read
Enjoyed the feel and the flat 3d shading really made everything pop :) Especially enjoyed the interactions, the writer and I share a sense of humor :D The scroll speed was a bit awkward, and I think I'd want the mail carrier to point front to back while running ahead, but those are minor complaints. Thanks for the game :D
Thanks for playing! By scroll speed, do you mean how quickly the text was typed out? The dialogue UI only really reached "good enough" before I had to move on to other things, but I definitely wanna give it another pass. And yeah, I think if we build on this more we'll give Avery a few more animation frames :)
Sorry for being unclear, just regular mouse speed, changing the view direction as youre moving around in WASD. I realize I could have missed an options screen when I typed that, though!
There is an options screen! I wonder if anybody found it 😅
I think in jams you really need to be extra obvious with everything—I could have just put a pause icon on the HUD like I did with the inventory.
Super cute and chill game. Great work!
omg so adorable, lots of fun as well
This was a great game! The art style was nice and effective, the dialogue was interesting and the personal stories were built with care. The interpretation of the theme is very unique too.The cozy atmosphere and gameplay kept me tied to the screen.
Thanks for playing! Our artists and writers really poured themselves into this game :]
Cute game!
Really precious!!
This was a very cute game. The billboarded sprite with he little running animation was adorable. I did sometimes hav trouble finding my way around or seeings where I was able to go. However it was enjoyable to try and discover all the characters. Well done
Thank you for playing! The map could definitely use some clarifying - I doodled a general layout that ended up being turned into the final build just like that. City planning is tough!
Maximo is life. all others can get lost.
Steve is the tallest creature I have ever seen.
Very cute game! I liked the 2D sprites in the 3D world.
cool idea! I liked the style of the different animals
