nice little game, though the spiders start really piling up. it took me way too long to see the other scales that dropped after killing since there were that many spiders... its definitely be something that can be built on even more!

Developer

I see, that makes quite a lot of sense. I assume it also doesn’t help that all has been done using just two colors, which obviously contribute to make the power ups even harder to see. Thank you for your feedback and for playing!

Great presentation and really nicely done

Developer

Thank you!

Lovely little game! Very clean and straight to the point. Would love to see some more variation in the notes, maybe some countermelodies for example, and more dynamic enemies over time (it does get boring to circle strafe a huge amoeba after a little while). Great work!

Developer

Thank you for your comments! That’s very fair criticism, we appreciate the feedback. I’m hoping we might be able to add some more stuff to the game as to address many of those things in the future, but we’ll see. I’m glad you enjoyed it, your game was pretty great too!

Good presentation and a very simple but fun game. I really enjoyed how the initial progression made me feel like the game went from quiet to building towards having a sound track, which I think that's an idea that could be explored further. Maybe more weapons/instruments could be added and somehow more complex note patterns?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your comments! We actually thought of pointing the game mechanics towards that direction you mentioned; there are tons of things that we wanted to add and couldn’t because of the time, and using different instruments is one of them. So we definitely agree with you on that! I’m glad you had fun, thank you for playing!

Took me a while to realize I would unlock the rest of the notes just by killing enough. Pretty nice, I kinda wish each note had a different color

Developer

I see! Yeah, you weren’t the only one, we might have to look a bit more into making the mechanics a bit more clearer for future users. Thank you for your feedback!

Would like to see how this gets more fleshed out.

After getting all of the scales and C penetration, it seems that the damage is capped and doesn't improve further.

Would be interesting if we get musical scores/snippets that gets played instead of the repetitive sequence.

Also, for anyone reading, it seems that there isn't a cap on manual click speed, so using an autoclicker might be the best way to maximize damage

Developer

Haha, I love how you tried to maximize your shooting speed as much as you could, props for that! manual click speed is indeed not capped, so yours is a valid strategy! Hopefully we’ll get to continue adding stuff to it as to polish it a bit more as you mentioned. Thanks for playing!

Very original idea, if not executed perfectly. I really liked how unlocking higher notes does more damage but the sounds themselves got super repetitive and kinda overwhelming. Once I unlocked all of CMaj it didn't change, is there more scales to the game? The potential here is huge though, I could see this  fleshed out with more interesting scales, but also chords underneath to imply modes. Plus you could unlock instruments or synthesizers, and add effects like chorus and reverb to them as powerups. Great concept here for sure!

Developer

Thanks for your comments! At the moment we only added some C scales, mainly because of time limitations. But we were planning on adding much more initially. I really liked the ideas you suggested though! Hopefully we’ll be able to add some more content to the game in the near future. I appreciate your feedback!

Love that you did musical scales, and this is a really effective idea! Will definitely check in to see if you evolve it further.

Developer

We’re glad you liked it! Hopefully we’ll add more stuff in the future for you and everyone else to see!

Lovely! I think that after the slow start, the game is really novel and joyful. Whimsical, even. More musical elements going on would hold the player's interest more effectively. Like, maybe some kind of percussion? Related to enemies spawning? Dying? I'm a huge fan of games with procedural music stuff going on and this could be so cool

Developer

Thank you for your comments! I think your ideas are pretty neat, actually. We had a lot of things that we wanted to add and had to cut short because of the time limitations, but hopefully we’ll keep adding new stuff to it!

This is pretty cool and fun. I like the simple graphics while the game also feels very polished! I also enjoy the piano key sounds when shooting :)

Developer

Heyyy I really liked your game, so I am glad you enjoyed ours as well! c:

I haven't seen any games that use scales in this context! well done! If you wanted to continue with the game I think a bit of balancing and some enemy varieties would suit it nicely!

Developer

Thank you! We’re definitely planning on adding more stuff like that in the future, I think that’s very fair criticism. Thanks for your comments and for playing!

Cool game! I like the concept! I think there's some room for cool things like modulating, different modes, etc, getting into the real nitty gritty of musical scales, but game jam time scales (ha) are like that! I had fun spamming the op pentatonic to 100k  :3

Developer(+1)

Love the ideassss! Thank you for the comments. Yes, there is definitely loads of things we could have added to the game. We had to reduce the scope a little bit so as to make it to the deadline, but we also had some similar ideas that unfortunately had to go unexplored. Hopefully we’ll get to expand, fix and balance the game after the jam!

The pentatonic is definitely too OP 😂

This is the first game I've seen use this interpretation of scale. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank youuuuu! Glad you you found it original. My brother and I really enjoyed your game c:

Liking the cute art, wasn't sure how to change the scale however, maybe I just missed it? Music was very cute, and the idea behind the scales being music made my partner very happy too.

Developer(+1)

You have to grab the power ups that the enemies sometimes drop to change the scale. Maybe we could have added that to the tutorial to make it clearer. I’m glad you both enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Ah sure, I saw those appearing but they quickly vanished below a sea of spider haha

Developer

Hahahaha yeah, definitely something we should look into. Perhaps making the scales something to pick up wasn’t the right choice

The audio and take on the theme is great, but maybe the game is a little slow, maybe it  would improve with less enemies or if player dealt more damage. It is a great entry for the Jam, Good Job.

Developer

Hey! Thanks playing and for the feedback! I definitely agree that there is some work to be done about the health, the damage and the spawning rate of the enemies. We sort of run out of time for playtesting, which is really important to polish this kind of things out

Submitted(+1)

This is a wonderful take on the theme and great fun to play. Great entry.

Developer

We appreciate the nice words! Thanks for playing!

Really loved the feeling of powering up with the new notes. Very fun! Slightly wider FOV would be nice in my opinion

Developer

Very fair! Thanks for your comments and for playing!

This is all very well and good, but where is my F double sharp super ultra hyper mega meta lydian scale? /j

Developer

Hahahaha it’s in the backlog, right after the D flat diminished mixolydian
