Got a score of 11200. The visuals are very nicely done, with the buttons in the menus even looking like piano segments. The audio is just as nicely done, with the title theme being an absolute bop and the piano progressing up keys as you attack is such a cool detail. The gameplay's solid as well, with unlocking more powerful key progressions as you survived more. The enemies could use some variety to spice up gameplay and a max enemy cap to prevent loads of enemies grouping up tightly and to save on performance, but in their current state they do bring a very fun element of chaos.
In short, the game's very well done đź‘Ť
That’s a very complete comment! And your suggestions are insightful, you made some very valid points. Thank you for your feedback!
awesome style
Thank youuu! :)
Excellent game! If you expand it post jam, I'd love to see enemy variety, some sort of simple background, and more incentive to use a diverse set of weapons
We’re thinking of adding many of the things you mentioned, actually! Thank you for playing and for your feedback!
This is a very interesting concept. Good job.
Thank you for your words!
I really like the art style and unlocking a new note was satisfying to listen to. It's a nice idea that could easily be expanded on
Thank you! We are definitely planning to expand on the ideas after the jam. Glad you found the gameplay satisfying :)
Really awesome idea! There is potential for really cool attacks/abilities with different musical scales, rather than just more damage. There could be enemies of different musical scales. You could also shoot musical notes.
Hey, thank you for your comments and the suggestions! I agree there is definitely a lot of unexplored possibilities with this concept c:
There's practically no gameplay in this game, you just walk around, and shoot the overpowered spiders that spawn way too fast. At least the scales as different weapons concept is nice.
Really fun use of the theme. The use of a musical scale to defeat the enemies was very cool. It was very fun! I found it really hard but I kept replaying it!! :) Really nice game!
Thank youuuuu! So glad you enjoyed it! The difficulty seems to be a common topic among everyone who played it, so you’re not alone, hahaha. We’ll definitely adjust that after the jam to make it reasonable! But it is great that you wanted to keep playing nevertheless :)
I feel like something is missing, it becomes impossible to kill the monsters, and they spawn everywhere. It feels more like a horror experience than anything else, and I'm not a fan of those types of games.
I liked the scale variations, but it doesn't feel like power is increasing. It feels like whatever you try, you are in a bad place.
Hi! I’m sorry the experience was so frustrating to you, it is a quite hard game at first indeed, many people told us the same. We appreciate the feedback a lot, it will help us adjust the difficulty in the future. Thank you for playing and for your comments!
Pretty neat, this concept would probably suit a vampire survivors type game!
Thank you! I definitely agree. I believe that the main concepts of rogue-like games would work well alongside the main idea behind our game :)
This game is a vibe, and has a great deal of polish. But I found the gameplay to be kind of tedious. I'm sure if I gave it more time my opinion would change but the game doesn't do much to keep your attention. Probably just a skill issue. :/
Congrats on the submission, though!
Thank you for your feedback! I do see your point, and I don’t think it has to do with your skill level haha. We’ll definitely do some major adjustments to the game after the jam, so maybe you’ll find it more enjoyable in the future, if you ever come across with it again! We appreciate your comments!
I love the way the repeating cycles through the scales makes you time your shots to get the most damage and utility out of them! A lovely interpretation of the theme, nicely done!
That’s what we initially aimed for! Thank you for playing and for your nice words!
Very cool concept! i really loved the rhythmic pattern of the notes playing once i started to unlock them! very fun!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for playing!
Good game! however, i found it way, way too difficult to begin with, but maybe thats a skill issue lol. Enjoyed playing and loved the creative concept!
Heyyy probably not a skill issue, hahaha! Several people found it way to hard, so I’d say it’s more of a design problem. Thanks for giving it a go! c:
Love it! I hope you add more scales and enemies!
Thank youuuu so much! My brother and I both loved your game as well. We are hoping to add more scales and stuff after the jam, so I hope you stick around <3
Will do!
Yay, that´s my kind of scale! I played this for longer than I should have. Needs more upgrades and a beat and stuff like that. Ouch, my finger!
Hahahaha glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, the thing about the finger has been brought up a lot. Will surely do something about it after the jam! And we also have a lot of ideas planned becase we also think that we left so much unexplored! Thanks for dropping by and for the feedback c:
Interesting concept! Listening to the notes play was satisfying! My fave scale was the Maj Pentatonic! Got to about 27k before my finger fell off. 🎹
Yessss the pentatonic was in genereal believed to be overpowered, but its my favourite too! Great score! Surely well do something about the finger thing in the future, lol. Thanks for playing!
It's a bit lame having to spam click to shoot fast, and you literally can't kill enemies fast enough. The art is cute, but adding some juice would have made it feel a lot nicer! Good take on the theme though. I like the powerups.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, definitely spamming the click shouldn’t be necessary nor a good strategy. Well do something about it after the jam. And there needs to be some sort of difficulty increase as the game progresses too, as it is true that enemies are quite tough to kill at the beginning. Lots of room for improvements. Hope you stick around to see those changes down the road :)
Glad to be of help! I really meant it from a place of constructive criticism, as I would want for anything I make as well. (I see now I was probably a little harsh lol)
No worries! It was all completely fair and valid feedback, so we didn’t take it badly at all. It’s extremely helpful to get comments like yours. Also, I’ve just finished your game and can now tell what you meant with “juice” when talking about the art style, hahaha. We are definitely not there in terms of pixel-art skills, but hopefully we’ll be able to improve on that. Again, thanks for the comments <3
Good luck with pixel art, it's a fun journey! I've been doing pixel art for probably 6 years now. Wow.
Super original idea :)
Took me a long while but I broke 6 figures haha
Thanks youuuu! Woaaaah 6 figures is such a good job! We don’t keep the scores, but the highests we’ve been shown were six figures too, so it’s safe to say you are amongst the higher scorers of the game c:
Nice little game! I kinda sucked at it, but overall quite nice
We’ve been told the game is quite hard at the beginning, so if you think you suck at it, it’s probably our fault, hahahaha. Thanks for playing! c:
