Man, the way the giant mech walks and builds is really good. I like the art and animations very much. Very fun game :D

Definitely a beautiful looking game. I enjoy this.

Very cool giant robo game!

Absolutely killer game nice work guys! Polish and visuals are next level as always.
Rigs were pretty OP I ended my run with around 1 billions dollars haha 🤑
Would love to see this expanded and on steam,  good one!

Great art style, well done tower defense, and a wonderful level of polish!

Submitted(+1)

cool visuals with the mechs <3 I wish I could slap the enemy units to show them what for

No bias but neon genesis evangelion games are really epic. No but in all seriousness I am astonished in a visual level this is hella polished. I really love the concept seriously.  This is the first entry I rate but I feel as if it just might be my favorite from the jam.

Wow! How do you even do this within the Jam time? This is so nice I'll even try to give constructive feedback.

You could ramp up the difficulty a little bit, since getting a couple rigs up early was enough to overflow me with money for the rest of the game. Also, it would be nice to be able to dash around, and to hold the upgrade button to do it without clicking so much.

Overall really really nice!

I'm sucker for the cell-shaded toon graphics and I'm a fan of the Evangelion series. I like how this is a different take on the tower defense game where I can focus on a single lane rather than branching paths and looping roads. A bit more explanation as to how you get resources and what each unit does would be great also seeing which lane they are going come from and how much health they have would really help.

I can't imagine giving this anything but perfect marks. The style, gameplay and polish are off the charts. I like how how you made the scale of the game a story component!

It's definitely my favorite game from the jam so far - everything feels so intuitive and satisfying.

I did experience a bug where an enemy got stuck and the next wave wasn't spawning, but once I realized what was going on I placed some turrets in front of him so I could keep playing!

Would DEFINITELY buy this if it were a full game.

Okay wow this is such a fantastic homage and IMPROVEMENT on the Plants vs Zombies formula that I wish more games would challenge!

Firstly let me get the few little issues out the way I had with the game. BLOOM. Bloom is way too damn high, why does everything need to glow? It's cool in moderation but I don't really see the need to have bloom on the health bar or hazard stripes. If it's a design choice that's fine. I just don't like bloom in general and always turn it off.

Not really an issue but... WHY ARE THERE HIDDEN/SECRET SKINS!? HELLO!? I accidentally died because I had to walk away from my PC and when I came back the mech was GUNDAM COLOURS!? WHAT! Then after refreshing 20+ times and even letting myself die again I could not get it to change back to a gundam. I even tried pressing different buttons on the start screen and could not replicate it. Am I going insane? Did I hallucinate this?

Pause button would have been nice, getting my mouse stuck in the game is a bit of a minor pain but not a massive issue.

Okay now that all that is out of the way...

HOLY GODS OF ALL THAT IS AND WAS. HOW DID YOU GUYS PULL THIS OUTTA YOUR *** IN SUCH A SHORT TIME FRAME?

WOW, just wow. I love defence games and as soon as I realised it was a lane based defence game I was 100% locked in. Not only am I defending a cool sci-fi version of Tokyo (which looks awesome) I also need to build oil rigs to generate income to fund my defence capabilities. It basically is the Plants vs Zombies formula just scaled (hehehe) up to 11.

Character controls great, running around and building stuff is SUPER simple and easy to understand and pick up. The enemies are super cool shark kaiju and don't think I didn't notice those little (giant?) metal bucket hats on some of them. Fantastic little touch.

I will say I found the game SUPER easy. Maybe because I know how these games work but I just built like 5 rigs at the start and immediately had MILLIONS and MILLIONS to spare. I could then just run around and throw down 2 max power turrets with walls infront of them in every lane and I was set for the rest of the game.

Graphics, I don't even know what to say. It's literally perfect the design, the cell shading. The animation. Not a single pixel out of place from the moving water, to the floating HUD to the awesome cityscape and Tokyo tower and MT.Fuji in the background.

Again the audio is just absolutely on point, the SFX and ambience of the turrets firing and the music was so well placed that I literally cannot find a single thing to complain about.

I honestly don't know what else to say other than I love this so much. I would 100% buy this game and I want to see a full version of it in the future. The fact that this is the first game I've played in GMTK is insane and anything else is going to have a really difficult time comparing with this.

HOW DO I GET THE SECRET SKINS? ARE THERE MORE? THERE MUST BE NEON GENESIS EVANGELION SKINS!?

Ecks my man!

Thank you so much for the in-depth review yet again, now I feel guilty and will definitely leave a longer review for you too! I also had a talk about us overusing emissive UI... hahaha.

As for secret skins... are you sure you didn't just hallucinate? :)

Submitted(+1)

NO I DID NOT HALLUCINATE. You have hidden secret things that I can't figure out how to access and I am going to figure out how you did it and how I can see it again!

Also don't feel obligated to leave a review for my teams submission in return I do this cos I want to not cos I expect something in return :)

This is one of the most flawless games I've seen on the jam.

It has the style (take my 5 stars!!), a complete game loop, no bugs, and so much polish it even works with non-english keyboards out of the box. The only thing I would add is a twist to make it more original at the gameplay level.

I really, really wish I knew how to scope my games like yours. Congrats!

Nice name, nice arts, nice robots, what else?

Submitted(+1)

The visuals are awesome!

Wow, this could be developed into a full game that I would gladly purchase on Steam or the Switch lol. Also you absolutely nailed the aesthetic! My favorite game I've played so far during this jam.

The only critique I have is that, as far as I could find, none of the towers are described anywhere. This is most important for understanding that the oil rigs are income.

Submitted(+3)

Stunning! And the best name in the jam haha

Submitted(+3)

Giant robot, EVA and Plant vs Zombies, anything could better than this?

Submitted(+2)

This absolutely oozes style and creativity. The visuals are clean, the gameplay is intuitive, and it's just overall a good time. Excellent work.

I only really have 1 complaint -  while the audio and screen shake give a lot of juice to having a single tower, it can get pretty excessive toward the endgame when you have several. An audio/screenshake slider (or having it be clearer how to get to options if that already exists and I just missed it) would be appreciated.

Great art and sound. Controls are responsive.

Sometimes it seemed like I couldn't build things even with enough money, not sure if I was doing something wrong.

I felt bad killing the shark monsters, they were kinda cute. Otherwise great.
