Fun little platformer, I'm not sure if after finishing level 1 ir shoudl load level 2, but the game stopped working for me. Liked the idea of making sword longer or shorter to kill enemies in range in exchange for stamina.

Developer

Thank you for trying it out. Yes, I discovered a weird bug that only happens sometimes when you reload or change the level. I hope to update and add more content the game so I hope you will come try it again in the future.

I really liked the concept of tactically switching between swords! However, the game froze once when I reached the first checkpoint and then again on the next level when I fell down the water :(

Developer

I’m glad you enjoyed the game despite its performance. I will try to optimize the game better in the future.

the sword designs are epic. cool game.

Developer

Thank you for playing!

my game has a similar concept but you change the scale of your bullets plus the damage, speed and cool down as well but your too polished than mine 15 stars form me

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for you comments! I did try to polish it as much as I can, but it did cost me to not having been able to add as much content as I had originally planned. But I'm still glad people have been able to enjoy it for what it is!

Interesting concept. My game got stuck after getting to the first checkpoint, but I enjoyed the short adventure 'till there. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and commenting! When you get to the first checkpoint, a level complete sfx plays but it is too quiet compared to the background music. The second level only loads after the sfx finishes, which takes around 2 seconds I think.

It's a really big oversight because I added the music in as the last step to before I submit and didn't test it again 😭 Hope you find time to give it another shot.

Submitted(+1)

Oh sorry, I did not notice it. No worries, I'll give it another shot for sure :D

Submitted(+1)

Ok, I finished it. It is really, nice I liked the level design too. It's a shame that you couldn't add more content, but given the timeframe and that you did it all in 48h, that's really impressive. I'm looking forward for its further development :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for giving it another shot!

I am incredibly grateful for all the positivity I have received so far on this game, despite its apparent incompleteness and my inexperience as a game dev. All the amazing games I have tried and seen on Mark’s streams gave me a serious case of imposter syndrome, but I am humble to have been given the same kind of support as those amazing devs.

Nice game! Making the sword bigger and swinging it around felt great!

Developer

Thank you! I had hoped to make other platforming challenges based on the shortening-lengthening mechanics but I wasn't able to finish in time to submit for the jam. I hope to update the game in the future!

Very cool concept. Keep it up! Rated!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I hope to update the game with more content in the future.

very nice animations,. nice concept and nice art. great job!

Developer

Thank you! Most of the art are from free assets from Kenney.nl so I can't take any credits for that. However, I did make the character and weapon and the animations for them myself. I tried to match the styles of the assets, but I have a long way to go as an artist.

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea! The sword animation is very satisfying, especially with the big one! The main mechanic probably has some potential if you can find a way to force the player to use every sword.

Developer

Thank you! That was certainly the plan. I had hoped to include more platforming challenges based on the shortening-lengthening of the sword, but I ran out of time before the jam ended. I hope to update the game in the future.

Short and sweet. There's not much content but it is well polished. And tbh that's an ideal outcome for a game jam.

Its a cute take on the whole shrinking/growing idea and you paired it with a couple fun levels. The assets were mostly from a third party but you've managed to mesh them together well; I probably wouldn't have realised if you hadn't said. Its a different skill than producing them yourself but it is still an achievement nonetheless to make them feel cohesive. Good Job!

Developer

Thank you for playing and commenting! Yes it's no secret that I used Kenney assets in this game, but I did make the player character, all the swords and their animations myself, in the style of the assets. I have still got a long way to go as an artist but I hope to continue practicing and get better in the future.

If you have time, you can actually try another submission I submitted for the jam called Coffee Conveyor. I made all the assets in this game myself and it's nowhere as good-looking as Kenney's lol.

That was a pretty fun game. Really well polished which is rare in game jams. I hope you keep working on it because the main mechanic seems interesting. Also maybe in the future add control rebinds because it is a bit confusing for me to jump with the arrow keys :P

Developer(+1)

Thank you! There were definitely some platforming mechanics that I had hoped to include but just didn't get to at the end. And yeah I was aware of the Arrow key jumping which might trip some people up but I decided to stuck with it since there were already so many other keys being used.

I loved the graphics and the whole atmosphere was super cute as well. Really interesting concept!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! There were some other mechanics that I had hoped to include as well, but I just ran out of time 😭

LOL BIG SWORD ENERGY. Scaling the sword was so fun to do. I loved the shaking of this game. Made everything so much more intense! The enemies are so cute too! I liked how I could make my sword bigger to have a further reach.

Developer

Wow, glad you had fun with it. To be completely honest, this was a bit of an unfinished mess, but thanks nonetheless. Hope you also check out my other entry!
