Its not very original, But it has some decent puzzles and i enjoyed it.
I am having a bit of miss-interest in my game so i would love if you can check it out!
Out of all the die rolling games I've played in this jam (a genre I'm guilty of contributing to), this has got to be the most creative. The panels that send you back a tile depending on your current number feel really cool to me and genuinely seem to affect the gameplay in meaningful ways to the point where playing this didn't feel like I was tapping into the same skillset I use for all the other similar games (mine included).
If I have one criticism, it would be that, for whatever reason, I can't seem to visualise which sides of the die are where as well with this game. Maybe it's got to do with the roll animation feeling a little jittery. Of course you counteract that with the number display so it doesn't really make too big of a difference, but it would be nice to intuitively know what's coming up. Pretty minor criticism though, great game!
Seen a lot of these types of puzzle games during this jam, but I like the presentation on this one. The sound and animations were very satisfying. Super clean and clear art style.
Cool game! I liked the arrow mechanic a lot as it makes the puzzles challenging but not like a lot of the other games out there where orientation is the main mechanic (which tends to be frustrating). Great work!
Nice game, I liked the simplistic art style. The sound effects sound very meaty, which is nice, but I felt like the game was missing some music or ambience - maybe getting the sliding and pushing contraptions to constantly make some background noise would make the game feel more alive. The levels didn't seem to have a very coherent flow, and seemed more like putting the contraptions together in cool-looking arrangements. But overall, it was still an enjoyable experience. (I hope you don't mind the brutally honest feedback, like I said I still enjoyed your game.)
Thanks for the honest feedback :) The sounds were all created and added in the last hour or two of the jam, so it ended up being a choice between making fun sound effects and making background music.
I have seen some game with this concept but this the best of all. It is simple to understand but difficult and require skills to finish. Congrats!
I really liked how clean and simple the visual presentation of this game is! We had another puzzle game, but its interesting to see so many different takes on the concept in this game jam. Really appreciated the little ui that showed you the orientation of the dice, definitely wish we had implemented something similar to that in our game :)
The fact the GUI had the dice shown be the opposite of how they would be physically arranged was a little misleading at times, but otherwise this was quite nice. The puzzles showed you knew what a dice could do.
Thanks for playing! We did put in a way to invert the die faces on that graphic if you press the space bar, since we weren't sure which way would be more intuitive for people.
Really nice game! I like puzzles like this. Just good luck, dude! :D
To be honest, apart from the presentation (typical Unity-style ugly buttons), I have no complaints. A really solid puzzle game that could become commercial with a little more polishing.
Yeah, fixing the menu aesthetics was one of the last things we worked on. Could you clarify what unity style buttons means? I have a guess, but we didn't use unity for our engine so I want to make sure I'm following.
Sorry, after checking again these are not as bad as I remembered, I thought they were smooth-textured, like the default button textures in Unity that beginner game developers use even when the art style of the rest of the game is greatly contrasting (e.g. pixel art). But I think there are still some improvements to be made - bigger contrast between the text and button texture, more matching colors (https://coolors.co/generate) and not making a weird grey box when you hold down the mouse button. Little things like that.
Cool game. Quite similar to other games but verytfun:)
I've played a lot of similar dice rolling puzzle games in this jam, but this one is by far my favorite. The combination of shifters and rollers with the puzzles lead to some very thoughtful puzzle solving. I would sometimes sit on the button and retrace my steps to see which face needed to be a certain number.
Also. I greatly appreciated having the option of seeing what is on each side of the die, instead of just what face would be on top if you rolled in that direction. I find the former much more intuitive, but many other similar games have lacked this option. Overall, it's a wonderful little game.
We have a poorly documented option for that. If you press spacebar (or whatever you bind select to), it'll switch between face on side, and upward face if you move in direction modes. It doesn't persist properly between levels though.
Yep! Sorry if I was unclear, I was trying to say that I found that option and was happy to see it in your game, since I hadn't seen it in other similar games
Nice combination of additional rules on top of the standard "get the dice on the right face". I very much appreciate the UI showing all the other sides too.
I loved it
While I found it difficult to solve the puzzles, I think this game is a really good idea. What I think could be improved is a slower ramping up in difficulty, or maybe a hints button. But game jams don't usually give that kind of leisure, so it's a solid entry nonetheless.
Edit: forgot to say how much I liked the die audio, it was nice and snappy.
Thanks :) I recorded tapping an actual die on my desk for that
Real good level design! and btw, how close am I to beat the game?
I think there's just 1 more level after that one. There are 12 in total
Cooool!
Fun puzzle! Great job!
Very nice puzzle game and very challenging! Great work!
Great puzzle game, had me hooked! The clear melody is also very lovely.
Well done!
Very cool puzzle game, very challenging!
It definitely made me feel too dumb haha.
Great execution though, it looks like you fleshed out the idea very well!
