I wasn't able to really play this game, because it was too complex for me; but it seems really nice! The art and sound design were good from what I experienced, and it looked like it probably played really well once you got into it!
Really nice art - I was surprised at how many different characters there were! It was fun to stack up ridiculous movement values and be able to explore most of the map in 1 turn by the end, and finding the lore made it a lot more interesting as well.
A great looking game that's incredibly ambition for a game jam! Well done!
Wow, I really loved the art of this! Looks like it's quite big and complex for a game jam game, nice work. I didn't really get the hang of it, but I had fun vibing around. Cheers!
It took some time to get the hang of it, but after I understood the mechanics, it was a nice experience!
(only issue is with the speed, but it has already been brought up many times... Sorry ^^')
On the bright side: the visuals are awesome, and it's also great to have some lore scattered around, it really gives the game an identity! I've read in a reply that you were more than 10 on the team, with a lot of artists, and it really shows!
I wonder, do the attack and defense stats do something? I think that it's an idea that was scrapped, but I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking a crucial game element '^'
Overall a very nice submission, I liked it! =)
I love the art in this game!
Nice concept and good character art. Player and enemy movement speed needs to increased significantly.
The art is amazing, you can tell an artist is working on it. I really like the main character too. The mechanics are pretty cool too!! If you have time please check out "I summon thee, Dice God".
Very ambitious game for a game jam, the ammount of menus needed for this sort of game is very big. It is quite hard to understand how the game works, but fun when you know what you're doing! How many people where you in total btw, I read many names in the credits!
Hey, first of all thanks for your comment!
We had one programmer working full-time on the project and four people who were only able to program one of the two days or less, who were helping him out.
Since our group usually publishes visual novels, we had a large amount of artists (3.5 in total, since one of them had to help with the programming) interested in helping out, which lead to this insane amount of beautiful custom art. For that same reason, we also had a composer for the background music, an SFX expert, and someone to master all the audio for us!
Most of the text bits were written by our usual editor, who jumped in when our author had to join the programming team on the last day of the jam, haha.
Sooo if I'm counting correctly, we were 13 people :)
Damn that's a lot of people! Must've been fun to make the project then! :)
There's a lot of good mechanics implemented, yet I found them hard to understand in the beginning because there's just a lot. A good take on a strategy game genre.
Yeah, we'll definitely try to stretch the tutorial out a bit to make it easier to understand after the judging period. Thanks for the feedback!
I love the art! The gameplay was a bit confusing but that's maybe just because I don't normally play games like this ^^'
This game looks so good, the UI and the character art is amazing. Sometimes with the UI it is difficult to tell what can be interacted with and what can't, some sort of highlighting or movement when you hover something that can be clicked on would be good.
Its also somewhat frustrating that the mouse clicks go through the diaogue boxes on the game map, so when I pick up an item and click on the dialogue box to close it my characters was moving to where I clicked.
A few quality of life improvements and some adjustments to the game map and I think this game would be incredibly enjoyable
Thanks for the feedback! We'll have a look at the usability now that the jam is over, so figuring out which bits are confusing/frustrating to the players really helps :)
Cool, ambitious game with really great character art.
beautiful art, but a bit messy composition of all the game art. i had trouble understanding how to play / what to do.
(i really liked how the the goat alea looked :)
Hi- character artist here. I'm happy you liked Alea's design! That was easily my favorite one to make. :)
There seems to be some interesting things going on in the game, but I think it's set back a lot by very difficult/confusing user experience. The game would benefit from more clear feedback to your actions and more information, for example when you collect random things on the map I don't really have any idea how many I need, how many I have, what will they do etc. Also for example clicking the end turn didn't immediately seem to progress the game, had to do some more clicking to get the team building phase going again.
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! We'll make sure to focus on UI improvements and upgrading the tutorial for our post-jam clean-up :)
When you click on "End Turn", the enemies move. But with how large we ended up making the map, you can't always see them, which turned out super confusing. Sadly, we only noticed that during our final testing, and the enemies also move much slower in the web version for some reason. We'll definitely speed them up a bit, and maybe we could add a text hint for the player, telling them what's going on!
Interesting game, I enjoyed it once I got the hang of it but maybe a bit more explaining would have helped. Very cool game though.
Thanks for the feedback! We've got some more features planned, now that the jam is over - among other things a more intuitive tutorial (lets be honest, we added that one during the uploading grace period and it shows)!
I can't seem to get it to work, about a third to the screen is cut off and I'm totally confused by the tutorial given XD
Hey, thanks for letting us know! Could you tell us what operating system you're using and possibly what your screen resolution is? We can't reproduce the issue on any of the devs' machines, so knowing these would be a huge help :)
Have fun exploring more jam games!
27-inch (5120 × 2880) Mac. If I can get it working I'll let you know!
Thank you very much. We were struggling with different resolutions towards the end, but thought that the issue was fixed. This is definitely something we'll be looking at during our clean-up sessions, now that the jam is finished :)
Eventually, we'll be releasing a new version with UI improvements, a better tutorial, and new character abilities. Hopefully, we'll be able to fix your problems with that patch as well!
