This is great fun, well polished and super easy to understand. The writing makes it easy to understand what works and what doesn't and then you can home in on the promotion. I can imagine a narrative game of this working really well
Great job!
First roll: Touch yourself.
Highly appropriate for a game like this.
Everything aside, the game does nail a lot of crazy good fun. Simple to understand and overall great mesh of mechanics!
The RNG helps spring up the randomness but the final outcome is determined through simple mix-and-match that adds a bit of strategy and depth to the game. The great blend of absurdity and comedy into the game design must have been an intentional choice. I commend the team for such a beautiful effort.
Seriously, well done! It has been quite fun!
OMG, I loved it! Hope u get top 20 for real, this is a very good take on the theme, and a great story too somehow. I had to touch myself there (;⌣̀_⌣́)
The only thing I would suggest, is to increase of the one that gets the boss angry, so I can stay for longer and dice more.. I wanted to try touching everything there to see what happens
Again, Loved it!! Keep it up <( ̄︶ ̄)>
I was hopping for a good time, luckily I was able to sit down and have a toadally awesome time with this :P
The graphics for the game, and the gameplay were good, I really liked the unique take on the theme and the way you interact with your boss is hilarious.
The only thing I'd probably suggest is, to upload the images and gifs on the sidebar instead of the main text and perhaps to get an animated thumbnail as to help it stand out more.
The idea is simple, but the execution was marvelous. Good job on that. Also good job on creating responses for all (most) of the possible crazy combinations, it was really entertaining to try stupid combinations and receive very specific replies for them.
A very creative use of dice, it's quite simple but very effective. For some reason I always get the statue, there might be something going on here :P Congrats on finishing the jam!
A game about a frog that wanted a raise, but instead was touching himself in front of his boss while criticizing his tie and menacingly looking at a water cooler.
Very funny writing ("You remind me of my wife" killed me :D), though I'll admit that I had much more fun making as stupid and as offensive combinations as possible ("Please don't touch anything" followed by me frantically re-rolling dice to get "touch") instead of actually trying to win :D
Great stuff, I read one of your comments and having this gameplay but with different scenes/scenarios and even more bonkers combinations would be awesome.
Awesome concept and implementation! Pixel art is really good, too... Great work!
This is a really great idea! I'm very curious what you would do if you decide to develop this further though, as I felt 48 hours is probably not enough for this kind of game. The humour is great, but the thing that makes this fun, is where you get to deduce what actions will get you the best result. This was well done with the statue, but I would have loved to see more of this, because it's fun to solve problems. I think if there would be more of that and a little more punishment for doing something bad, this could be a very exciting game. That said, I have to say the art looks truly phenominal.
Originally we were going to add more levels, like a date with a girl, where the same set of actions would lead to a different result - seducing your date makes way more sense than seducing your boss. It's actually quite easy to scale, but of course we didn't have enough time for that.
We originally started with a steepier difficulty curve, but in those few playtests that we had before the submission the players would lose too fast, and we decided that it's better to overshoot the target than disappoint a new player, and set max weirdness to x1.5 of its original value. Now I'd rather switch it to around 1.2x, but that's too late, of course.
Thank you for your feedback!
Also, deduction is a big part of what we wanted to implement, so that is more of getting to know a person in front of you than just using uniformally good actions and avoiding uniformally bad actions. The boss has strong feelings about every object in the room - for example, they love their tie and will defend it way more furious than they will defend themselves, and they don't really like the statue but keep it since it was a present. If a player realizes that through boss's reactions, they can keep using their negative actions on the statue and avoid using them on the tie.
The system of randomizing elements that you can construct a compliment from was really fun, and forced interesting situations where you had to chose what was the least offensive thing to insult or touch.
THE OBJECTS BLUSH WHEN YOU COMPLIMENT THEM AAA
Really funny game! I loved trying out everything to see all the different interactions. The sound effects add to the punch of each action, and the art works quite well. I played through it twice (ran into the disappearing post-game die bug, but hey it's a game jam game, bugs are pretty much mandatory) and enjoyed both attempts, though I never got the weirdness meter to max. I'm too good at getting a raise!
Awesome game, congrats to the team :)
This game is hilarious! Very funny writing and top-notch presentation too!
This is a real "poke it to see what happens" sort of game. It was really fun to see all the writing you put into this. I'd love to see this concept expanded to a full point and click style adventure game
A great little game. I had a lot of fun with it. I like how you only start with the most normal dice and the wilder actions get introduced over time. It gives the game a nice curve. I ran into the bug with NG+, but I can understand how it was very much pushing the game past its limits with so many dice on the field. I don't have much to say about this other than that I liked it. Good game.
