A really cool game. I like the dreamy pixel art and the music has blown my mind. It has some neat features (abilities are nice) and a nice variety of enemys. And even if I would have liked an ending after 5 or 6 stages, it's probably one of the most content feeling games. Great !
Can I ask you by the way, if I can get the music some how as a download ?
Thanks for playing! We'll put the music on Bandcamp at some point and when we do I'll post it here.
thank you, I am already excited for this !
Really love this! I'm always drawn to roguelikes, and this absolutely scratched that itch. The way all enemies are telegraphed by being chess and checkers pieces was really clever and made me feel smart while fighting them. I only really wish the opening cutscene tied into gameplay more - maybe with intermissions where the characters get mad at the Chaos God?
Super fun!
Thanks for playing! We originally wanted the level transition being the Snake God swiping you off the board but we didn't have time unfortunately.
Fun little game! I enjoyed the enemy chess pieces moving the way they do in their own game. Intro was cute, too - love the hand-drawn scribbly art, and I deeply appreciate the homebrew voice acting. :)

Love the intro and the idea, had a hard time figuring out what was going on with the pedestals but I still had fun.
Pretty fun game😂 Somehow I really enjoyed randomly jumping around and slicing chess pieces, somewhat satisfying lol. Great job!
Nicely done, even has voice acting to boot :P!
I loved how the different chess pieces moved in the appropriate patterns, made fighting them feel good when you could avoid them :). The different Die powerups were fun too :D.
Just the intro is worth it !
I love the eastetics of this game! everything fits so well together and feels great during gameplay
Preety fun game! love music, sfx and the voice lines!
Nice work! I enjoyed the sound effects a lot and the gameplay loop of jumping and smashing chess pieces feels great. I was a bit confused at first until I realized that jumping does damage, but then it clicked and I had a good time!
Had a lot of fun with this one~
The music was great and the SFX fit the gameplay well.
Nice work~!
What a game ! really enjoyed it, will play a bit more again :p
You got me at the dubbed intro lol (loop makes it even funnier), the idea of skill by numbers is a great addition to the stomping mechanic and the overall ambiance feels great (I love the sound of the dice scratching the floor) good job !
I really enjoyed the game. It was quite confusing at first, but quickly got the hang of it. The levels do get rather large, without much in them to justify that happening. I also encountered some minor bugs, such as enemies standing on the decorative tiles the player can't reach, and enemies being stacked. The vase shards behaved weird, sliding everywhere for a long time. I also think this game could really do with a boss or something, such that building your arsenal leads to something.
I also agree with this constructive criticism. These are going to be some of the most important issues we address if we decide to develop the game further. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Love the art in this one, specifically on the player. Gave me major gameboy vibes
Somehow I missed that the controls were on the game page - I didn't know how to roll until the first boss stage lol
y'all make some weird games. I'm all for weird, wacky, retro worlds and this fits the bill.
Gameplay on the first level or two feels a little clunky and slow. Maybe a faster attack process would help? Or make all pawns just have 1 hp? Something to get into the "fun" part of having abilities a little more quickly would help tremendously.
I really enjoyed this game though. It was fun discovering the abilities, even if it wasn't always clear what they would do at first. The levels felt a little too spread out, sometimes, too. Randomness at its worst lol
Great job everyone. keep making weird games!
Thanks for the praise CFHM, good to see you again!
The pawns have 6 hp because that is the number of sides on the dice. The intention is for the player to notice that sometimes they can OHKO the pawns and sometimes they can’t, and from that, discover that the Takedown move does the amount of damage that the dice landed on. This gets them thinking about which upgrade slots to use.
I do agree that the levels are a bit too large. The size was nerfed near the end of the game jam but it still ended up being large and empty. We’ll definitely find a way to deal with this if we take this game to a larger release.
See you next year? ;)
heck yeah, see ya there!
Really love the concept, great level of polish. Took me longer than I'd like to admit to realise the enemies move based on how chess pieces move 😂 My only complaint is that I wish when you die you go back to the start of the level and not the start of the game. I was enjoying playing but when I died I didn't want to grind my way back to where I was which is a shame. Great work overall!
Thanks for playing! That is a very fair complaint—admittedly the death mechanic was one of the later things added, so it's pretty crummy. Something to revamp for sure.
Love the dice attacking game mechanic here! Some randomness but the player is still in control. Super charming game, I hope you take this style into a larger release.
Thank you very much for the support! We’re definitely thinking about developing this further!
Best game I have played so far!
Thank you fellow scared queer.
