pretty creative! I like the way it's still mostly skill-based, despite the importance of the dice.

Not so easy to understand in the first place, but really nice game ! I really like the characters and the art, would be even better with a little music :)

A very unique game unlike anything i have  seen this jam.
Presentation: The game looks really nice and i think the art style is very cool. I really like the use of symbols to identify voters and i think the voters themselves look really cool. I do wish there was some music but given the time constraint that may not have been an option and in that case it was a good use of time to add the voter click sound effect. I do think some other sound effects would have helped as well. As a general rule without sound effects button actions tend to feel floaty and unresponsive. Additionally, having a black ui element like the lock indicator on a dark background makes it rather hard to see and you may want to consider making the lock white.

Regarding Gameplay/game mechanics:

I think the game itself is a really cool concept and after a few tries i started to understand how to play and I was able to start really pulling in the voters. I've mentioned this in other reviews but good game design as I am told is often about providing the user with interesting choices, you definitely provided interesting choices with whether or not to hold on to specific die or to roll others to match a voter pattern and I think it worked pretty well, so good work. The use of a timer also created a fun race against the clock feel that I think worked well. My only pieces of feedback regarding the gameplay are that it would make the game feel better if there was more punch to rolling the dice, and a tutorial is likely needed as I felt there were concepts i was not fully grasping despite for the first few runs.

All in all, thanks for making something rather unique this jam, and thanks for sharing it. Good job!

Thanks for the detailed review!

  • Bugs:
    • Voters wouldn't vote with correct symbols
    • Lock symbols would vanish, but stay locked.

The game was an interesting concept and took me a second to understand how it worked.  Once I did I was able to play a few rounds but never able to beat the goal.

Developer

The 2nd one isn't possible looking at my code, I think since there is just 3 symbols you just rolled the same symbol in the same spot.

he means the lock symbol dissapars. If you lock 2 or more dice, the lock symbol only stays on the latest one locked, which is clearly a bug as the other die still doesn't re-roll.

Hmm, people always seemed to vote for no matter what dice I had. Must be because I'm so cool B)

Haha jk. Really neat idea! I think with some polish the core gameplay mechanic can be very fun. The Auto roll someone else described, maybe a few less voters to scan for, some powerups or maybe a lightning round (just one or two dies, only a few voters,  but only a second or two per election issue) to give some variety. Oh, and maybe a speech bubble where you get comments when you click a voter depending on how well you matched. "Politicians in this country used to stand for something!" Or "Make our country great again!" idk but I think it could be funny.

The first part is actually impossible. I'll try to do an auto roll, if I continue developing the game.

really cool concept but ended up not being able to win at all lol, really hard to match the shapes in the given time limit for me but i loved all ur little portraits and it was quite a unique take lol

Hi! I saw you posted in the GMTK discord asking why people were saying "Interesting Game". I wanted to provide you with some feedback:

* The default viewport in the webgl build hides the "Roll Dice" button -- it wasn't obvious at first I could roll dice.

* The squares/triangles/circles on the voters I need to match against are small. Its difficult for me to quickly scan the page to find out if I have any matches.

* The matches that only need a subset, or a few of the pieces, i.e. a single circle in the second spot, weren't obvious. I thought there were going to be some dice rolled that came up empty to match them.

* "Rolling Dice" felt like it slowed down the game. I think it would have been better if the dice automatically rolled, so it could play more like a "BINGO" card. Then you're trying to scan fast for a match while also not needing to decide to "Give Up"

I like the sound and the art. I do think the concept is interesting. Just wanted to give you a bit more info since it seemed like you wanted some :)

Auto roll sounds like a good idea, thank you for the suggestions.

I specifically enjoyed the art, but the game was actually really fun!

Thanks, gave your game a rating as well.

Nice Idea and good art works !

Developer

Thanks.

Here is a nice rating for finding 5 different game ideas. The game is honestly enjoyable, I guess one might say an "interesting concept".

Jokes aside it was fun, nicely done.

Nice game I  really liked the art particularly

I feel like its really hard to represent social interactions in gameplay BUT this project use of dice matching really captures giving a speech. I like how you essentially try and roll dice to match a pool of other dice to represent how politicians fish crowds of people in the real world. It is rough but the art and the concept could lead to something much more. Playing a politician is a hard sell but I feel like this game is a good proof of concept for how you could tie meaningful gameplay into it.

Developer

Thanks for the review, I'll try to expand on it in the future.

Cool idea, the roll dice button sometimes didn't respond for some reason.

Developer

Hmm not sure what coulda caused that too be honest.

Interesting concept! I'd like it if the symbols were more visually prominent :)

Developer

Thanks, the ui real estate got a bit cramped. I'll check your game out later.
