Looks like we had pretty similar ideas :D. The game is very fun and perfect for a couple of fast combats. Maybe if you want to expand it in the future you can include more actions to chose from or more enemies in order to spice it up a bit. Other than that the functionality is perfect. Great job!
Clever design with some room for actual tactic. UI and visuals are very clean. Nice job!
The idea for the game has potential and the controls are solid. It can use a limit on how many time you can set an ability and maybe some incentive to change them (at the moment it feels like you can pick one set of abilities and leave it for the whole game).
Very fun game, was really fun. Good job!
Nice game, i liked use of the dice, good job.
The concept is fun but gameplay was a bit lacking, it was suficent to just set all the dice to atack and spam the rolls to win
That was really fun! Like setting up a loadout but it's random so you have to balance it based on your needs, like having lots of health means you can put more attacks and stuff
you did good job here
I like that you can choose which die to bring into battle. However, I usually ended up assigning all of my sides to one ability to guarentee I use it, so you should probably limit the amount of dice sides that can have a single ability.
Fun game! I love the idea of being able to customize dice to fit your play style. That being said I did find a very broken playstyle of just shielding myself to max then attacking restlessly. I think this combat system could work really well in a full adventure game or maybe a mobile game due to the simplistic controls. Overall really fun!
This battle system is very unique! Being able to choose which attack to use on which value was great! However I think that the die should continue rolling by itself until the game is over. There could also be more levels!
I'm a fan of unique battle systems (that's what I tried to do with my game) and I think this one is one of the better ones I've played.
At face value it felt like Rock-Paper-Scissors, but being able to weigh each option based on the enemy and your current state is where the strategic depth starts to show. Having to overcome enemy Defences also prevents a "Attack Only" strategy from being optimal (as was my initial assumption).
Well done.
If I could change anything, I would have the 3 rolls after selection play out automatically. Having to click on "Roll" didn't add much for me, and it just gave me the opportunity to accidentally click passed my next Setup Round.
This was an interesting concept and was somewhat fun, though I think the mechanics aren't super engaging.
Perhaps some more enemy variety (if this is random, I ended up with the same stats for the enemy's every time) and moves that lowered your stats and the enemies at the same time could have made for a more fun experience (though I also understand that you didn't have much time to implement these ideas).
It's a great concept but gets a little boring after a while.
The menu is very satisfying to use, the use of sound effects and the slight animations with clicking and hovering over things is nice. The concept is really cool, it's essentially like building a deck which is a huge appeal of card games but presented in a new and unique way, great stuff!
Really creative concept, and the mechanics are very well-designed. Great Job!
Creative concept, like really conceptually you have a really cool game.
Being able to control which abilities you have is very cool.
Animations are lacking, there is often times the AI will use an + ability at the same time as you use a - ability and it feels like rock paper scissors where you both pick rock. It's a little clunky and slows down the game. Being able to see how the enemy has built their deck would allow you as the player to construct a better strategy. You and the enemy should roll different dice though so you can't totally prevent the enemy from doing anything. Some abilities also feel overpowered or completely useless. I feel like investigating the ability spread some more could make the game feel a little better to play.
Overall you have a really good conceptual prototype, next steps would be investigating how particle effects and animations could help give your game a little extra flair, and thinking about how balancing could make each decision a little more different.
Wow, thanks for the in depth review! Regarding animations, particles, etc. (juice) I unfortunately just ran out of time and wasn't able to get around to them. But I fully understand their importance and implemented them pretty much right after submitting (see video).
Rolling individual dice was something I thought about previously and do like the idea of the more I think of it. Also yeah, the ability spread problem definitely needs to be addressed.
Thanks again!
Big fan of the added juice. The movement really helps sell it a lot. I also totally get the vibe of the time constraint the number of bugs I learned about only after the time limit, it was too many haha!
I also think you have something here in being able to customize your own die. You could even have the dice you roll in the corner match the icons you as the player selected. Certainly lots of places to explore with this concept I think it definitely worth exploring if you have the time.
Nice combination of Deck building and Dice mechanic!
What I liked?
- The freedom to build the deck, personally I made a full attack one with only boosters and attacks, it worked pretty well.
- The pace during fights is quite fast, which gave a smooth feeling
Other comments:
- The UI element colliders seemed misplaced, even on Fullscreen, I had to click almost next to the cards in order to drag them on my deck.
Overall nice work!
This is definitely the most unique one. I really like the concept, the polish, the gameplay, all of it really.
5 stars in all categories for sure!
