Buggy run! The game was amazing! Good Job! Looking forward to seeing more of the game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for your feedback. We'll try to make a post jam version soonish, and then maybe find some time to extend it :)

Very good game, I was pleasantly surprised by this visual style. Fabulous! It even has some cute cut scenes ^^ It took me a while to escape the big dude, but I didn't give up until I reached the end. Amazing work that deserves the highest rating!

Developer

Glad you managed to reach the end, from what I've been that was not an easy task. Thanks a lot for your feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

This game is terrifying! It started so cute with the hand-drawn cutscene and then WHAM! It's brutal!

Love it, but won't play it again as I'm too scared!!!

Tiny bit confused as to what I was meant to be doing though (other than not die!)

Developer(+1)

Oh my god sorry about that, yeah I guess it goes a bit too quick from relaxed to WTF I'm so dead :D

Need to work a bit on making this a wee bit more gradual at least

Submitted(+1)

Well I have a deeply ingrained fear of boots now so thanks for that. XD

I didn't ever end up making it all that far but there was quite a lot to see and do and a nice combination of mechanics that felt a bit overwhelming at first but ended up working well together once I got the hang of it.

Of course the art was fantastic, I was especially surprised to see the hand drawn intro sequence. Awesome work!

Developer

Oh I'm sorry to hear that, I hope it'll get better over time :D

Yeah I need to explore more on the level design side to get something more enjoyable at a more manageable pace

Thanks a lot :)

This is really cute! But there is too much going on and not enough instructions.

Developer

Thanks, and yeah good point, I'm more and more thinking having a tutorial as a separate level free of tension (and imminent death ) might be beneficial, what do you think ?

Submitted(+1)

This game looks so beautiful! But I ran in to the same frustrations as other players. Jump not working every time and dying because of that is really frustrating. I might come back to this one if there is a way to reliably jump, or after the jam if you update it.

The tension of the boot is spot on, great sound design. But yeah, didn't get to see all of the content for reasons mentioned. Still an amazing entry though, congrats!

Developer

Thanks a lot, we'll try to fix this issue in the post jam version (coming up soonish hopefully)

Whoa, the watercolor theme is great, it reminds me a lot of Amanita Design games. The whole game feels very polished, great job!

Developer

Wow thanks a lot always nice to be compared to one of my favorite art styles in games :)

Submitted(+1)

Amazing art, loved the watercolor style 🥺.

It was an interesting choice to have the same resource for both food and building, made it me more conscious of using them.

I’d love to see the sequel (or update)!

Developer

thanks a lot, now that the jam is finished we'll try to make a post jam version at least to first fix the many problems you guys encountered and then maybe later try to extend it a bit :)

Submitted(+1)

Awesome game, the sprites look great and the gameplay is well executed!
Since I wasted my resources at the start when trying to get out of a hole I dug myself I wasn't able to get over the first hurdle, maybe place some more resources at the start to make that more forgiving.

Developer(+1)

Thanks and good point, I should have put some more resources right besides the first hurdle, noted for the post jam version :)

Nice graphics, original idea, but jump is unreliable (sometimes doesn’t jump) which makes this too infuriating. I’ve seen this problem in one other jam game, I wonder whether this is a bad input handling or a Godot bug 🤔

Happens in Edge on Windows where our platformer game seems to register jump input correctly. Strange.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't implement something like a input buffer to store inputs a bit ahead of time to makes things run a bit better. Also I only tested that on Firefox, I'm guessing there could be some differences depending on the platform :/

Submitted(+1)

Godot takes care of input buffering/handling, you just need to ask for it correctly at correct places.

But I’m sure you’d figure that out eventually if you had enough time, nice game regardless :)

I really enjoyed this game full way through. It took me some time to beat, but it was always still enjoyable. The only thing I couldn't see was the credits for some reasons.

Developer

Glad you managed to go through all of it, from what I've seen it takes time and dedication :D

The credits are only available from the title screen, not at the end of the game. Clicking on the credits button there didn't work for you ?

No yeah clicking on the credits at the title screen didn't work for me.

Developer

hmm ok that's really odd, which platform/browser are you using ? I mostly tested with firefox and windows on my end

Downloaded it on my Mac

Developer(+1)

Couldn't test it on mac as I don't have one... In a way I'm glad everything else worked in that case :D

I really enjoyed the art and the music in this one! Great style that blended the mediums together well. As other have mentioned, the horror of the boot was quite real.

I struggled getting through even the first level and gave up after more than 5 tries. There were a couple of things getting taught incrementally, under the pressure of impending death, and that just got exhausting after several failures in a row. I didn't feel the kind of control over the PC that I wanted to deal with some of the harder jumps, either.

I may give this another try later, as I'd like to see more of the content.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Good point, I should have make the tutorial part of the game free of tension to learn the basics in a less stressful environment. (taking notes for the post jam version)

Submitted(+1)

Amazing art style, amazing music, the game is overall gorgeous !

You cant make an intro that cute and turn the game into a nightmare, man... Not cool !

Great submission, congratulations!

Developer

Ah ah yeah sorry about that I'm usually really bad at judging difficulty on game jams, I need to get better at this.

If you think the intro is cute, wait until you see the outro... Which is probably super hard to get to...

Submitted(+1)

By nightmare, I meant it is very stressful, things chasing me down are in my top 3 scary things in my personal nightmares (since Nights into dreams and its alarm clock, by the way).

I'll come back to get the outro when I'm done eating games !

Submitted(+2)

Amazing art style!! Wow you were able to create a ton of tension with the sound design as well. I loved the indication of where the step was going to take place. Nice job. :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch :) Yeah as I now understood from the numerous feedback on difficulty the tension is real :D

Submitted(+1)

fornite if bug survival horror. gameplay is actually super fun, the boot is actually terrifying. only thing is the jump sometimes doesnt register.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. The character control tweaking was on my todo list but I couldn't make it in time unfortunately, that will be for the post jam version then :)
