Very charming, and very hard. I gave up pretty quickly, but I liked what I was able to play! :)
This is a fun take on a mouse-only platformer. The art style is very cute and fits with the simplisticity, and I approve of featuring a slime as the playable character. The game is a bit on the harder side, but. I definitely enjoyed the challenge. Although, some of the levels feel like precision platforming (especially that one thin and vertical level) which is not as fun when you have to essentially guess the trajectory. On some levels it is also easy to land on the wrong side of a falling platform which makes certain jumps impossible. The levels are fairly short though, so they're not a huge deal for me.
I don't know if this is intentional but you can sometimes collide with the side of the falling platform and end up getting recoiled (or you just sort of stick but eventually fall to your doom), which is inconsistent with them only having collision.
All in all, this is a great game, nice work!
It looks really cute and the music is great and I really loved the title wipe as you go down into the starting room but for some reason I can't seem to jump high enough to escape the starting room.
Wow that was a cool concept, but so hard to play!
A platformer with no keyboard controls is an interesting take on things. But it was very hard to time things right and I wonder if we need mid-air jumping to rescue the player from a fall sometimes?
A minor note: the music was too loud for me and I would have liked more control over that
Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback ! I appreciate it very much !
I did try to allow mid air jumping, mid air charging and even slow motion while charging on floor to add accuracy while the player was standing on a falling platform, but it felt entirely different from the final result. I did realize it was hard to time, but it only bothered me in the level with the camera following the player on the Y axis (which is why there is only one of theme), I didn't necessarily see the difficulty to time as a threat to enjoyment, as levels only require a few jumps ; did it frustrate you ?
Sadly, accessibility would have been the first thing I'd have improved if I could have used the bonus week time :/ Hope you still liked the music and didn't get sick of it because of the volume !
7 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze, 40k points.
That was extremely difficult but possible. I found the difficulty both frustrating and enjoyable! I really felt motivated to get to the end.
My only complaint is that I wish I had had a little more room at the borders for my mouse. I found myself moving the mouse off the screen at times on accident.
Very cute but challenging game. Great job! :)
Thank you for playing and commenting !
I did try twitching the jump speed for a few hours, but late, and had trouble setting it up so I had to go back to this version ! I even hesitated to allow the player to start charging the jumps while in air, but it wasnt coherent and I decided not to.
I appreciate the feedback :)
Nice game! I think your game's visuals could benefit from a constant pixel scale, which is achievable by adjusting the viewport/ window settings (and import settings for your images).
Had a lot of fun playing this. Had some trouble on the third or fourth level with the falling platforms. But solid game, great job!
Hey, good job putting this together in one person :) Unlike us, you went for a reasonably scoped game for the jam.
Note that physics are dependent on frame rate in weird way where my jumps are too small on 120 Hz, I had to set 60 Hz in order to progress with the game. I’d expect they be bigger cause you didn’t take delta into calculations, weird… I think the game is only playable on 60 Hz systems.
I had a fun time playing the game and the idea certainy has a lot of potential in it. I would love to see this being more developed! The audio was very fun and it reminded me of my childhood as well.
Although besides that I feel like the level design and how the difficulty ramped so fast kinda limited the enjoyability for me. That being accompanied by how you can jump through some platforms but not others was confusing.
The game was a lot of fun! The controls and physics mostly worked well, although I noticed that if I landed on the very edge of a falling platform they wouldn't actually fall even if I completely stabilized on it. I may or may not have used that to my advantage.
The sounds, graphics and gameplay all fit together very well, great job! My final score was 41000.
When I first looked at the thumbnail and the main character I tough that the game was going to to be easy, lol… This was my best score:
Really challenging, died a lot, but the controls didn’t feel bad. Had a lot of fun :D!
Congrats!
