Fantastic game!

Damn! So good! The controls felt so satisfying to use, was loads of fun! I only played it on my own, so didn't manage to get super far, but this is such a nice entry! Will definitely play with others as soon as I get the chance.

I was wanting to know if you'd thought about the move/shoot cycle. My only issue (and it was small) was that I was always shooting in the direction I was facing. This became super difficult when loads of enemies had spawned into an area. If I could get a good dodge/jump/shoot rhythm going I could clear the space, otherwise it was death. I know that separating move/shoot for controllers can be a pain, but wondered if you'd thought about mitigation for it?

That to say, it was a wonderful game and I look forward to playing it with more people! Such a great entry :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We went back and forth on it awhile but we ran out of time and figured controller was just a better experience for now

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, that's absolutely fair. I'll give it a go on controller in a bit. The movement is just so responsive, it's so slick. Good work!

And I do want to explicitly call out that it didn't impact my fun on the game. I seriously enjoyed this entry!

Wasn't expecting to see a multiplayer game in the jam. Hot damn.

The art style, the animations, they feel really smooth. Controls are nice and easy. Impressive

Wow, I love it.

The art and music is just awesome.

Multiplayer coop , are you kidding me ?

If you will release the source code please let me know ;) I would love to see got the game was built.

Great job!

Very fun game and there's a lot of great polish in it     to elevate the experience .    Thanks for submitting this!

Extremely polished work for just nine days! Well done! Great art and music and the game itself is challenging. I love the different skins you can apply to your character.

I can see how the controller is the preferred way of playing the game because the character does not face where your character is facing so shooting “behind” you involves more than just clicking with your mouse but you also have to alter the orientation of your character.

Wow, a very good game in such a short time

Absolutely wonderful game that you guys created! I downloaded the game and used Parsec to play with a friend of mine. I love how similar it is to Risk of Rain 1 gameplay (assuming that was your intention). The style of showing how weak you feel early on in the game to becoming super OP and messing up anything in your way was beautiful. Hearing the one or two lines from the song you had made me love the music! Loved the “roll of the dice” upgrade, that was by far my favourite part, finding out I could dodge, crit, extra jump, extra bullets, regen, etc!

Some small issues that I encountered:

  • Enemies sometimes would spawn on top of you, instantly damaging you.
  • We had some multiplayer issues (could be controller, parsec or game related, unsure exactly). Basically my friend who joined on controller (through parsec) would count as two players (one controller and one keyboard) and we could only remove the keyboard one after he readied up.
  • Similar to the issue above, when restarting a run, we couldn’t see the 2nd character during the character select screen but when we loaded into the game, he was there.
  • The D-Pad (using Xbox controller) seemed to sometimes revive someone even though we were nowhere near the dead body
  • Health bar sometimes wouldn’t show full after getting revived until you took a hit.

Some feedback that I think would make the game better

  • Would’ve loved to see a final boss fight!
  • Would’ve liked to continue the run even though I completed the main mission/objective. I was super sad that the game ended there (that’s how you know you made an enjoyable experience!)
  • The “roll the dice” as much as I loved the upgrade, seemed to be a bit too OP, ended up just getting a bunch of that rather than the other upgrades.

Overall, phenomenal game! I 100% would buy this game on Steam if you guys were to add some extra mechanics and really flesh it out. Great job everyone!

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you for such a kind and thoughtful comment!! Great feedback!

Thank you for the Feedback on the music. We took a chance and added lyrics to the main background music once you hit that killing spree. Check out my profile if you want to listen to the entire song.

OMG, the animations are amazing ! Love the art, controls and overall feeling of the game. Do wish if there was a cap on how many enemies are spawned in the same area, and I think the solution to the frame drops might just be giving the Enemies node a Visibility Enabler2D. Overall, I had a blast with this action packed masterpiece ! Great job !

I really liked this game. The art, sounds and controls are nice. But i had a hard time playing it because i felt that the framerates dropped and it became hard haha. If you could fix it the game will be really aewsome!

Developer

Thanks!! Did you play on HTML or download?

Submitted(+1)

Only html ^^

Loved it! I sense a strong resemblance to Risk of Rain lol. Graphics are nice. Pacing is good, I really feel the need to work towards something. On occasion the enemies would group up in an area that would make it a little harder to kill them and id have to spam dash. Nice work! This could definitely be expanded upon after the jam.

Submitted(+2)

The graphics are fantastic in this game, and I appreciate the ability to play with a friend in local coop. I just had a hard time playing since the framerate drops more the longer you survive which I'm not sure how it could be optimized exactly. It's definitely caused by the number of enemies so maybe if enemies could only spawn near the player instead of offscreen, it would help with the performance. Or maybe making the enemies less numerous but stronger individually.
I did download the game and played it through the exe on windows.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah the framerate is kind of intermittent, I did some optimization on the spawning limitations and got rid of enemies that were on lower tower tiers but still wasn’t quite enough.

Wow, the music!

It's very hard to dodge the projectiles, maybe something with the acceleration of the jump or something... Much easier on open areas with dash though!

Beautiful graphics!

The instructions were a little stressful to take in. Much text to read on the first screen, and the controller text disappeared quite fast.

I had trouble restarting the game with the controller...

Very cool submission, wish I would be a better platform gamer so I could progress more in it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, you’d think we’d learn not to do the tutorial at 1am the day before submission! 😂😂

What a solid jam entry! It's so hard for my boomer gaming skills

nice game great music.

Fun game.  Would love to try multiplayer sometime.

Three suggestions, add a respawn option on death, so instead of going back to the splash screen I can jump right back into the action without waiting.

Maybe add a "safe zone" around the player that prevents enemies from spawning.  Almost every death I took was caused by someone spawning right next to me and cheap shotting me.

Lastly I didn't see an obvious way to heal damage.  Maybe in the upgrade menu add "heal for XX scrap"?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for feedback! There are healing stations throughout the map, I probably should have labeled the first one 😅

Submitted(+1)

hah missed that, I'll try again!

Great art direction! The game is good solo, but really shows its colors when played with other people. The UI lacks a bit, but the game is simple enough to understand. I wish the pixel art was cleaner, though! Great entry :)

Submitted(+2)

Had a lot of fun, the game is challenging, but the difficulty increase is fair. The upgrades add a nice sense of evolution, it reminded me of the first Risk of Rain game. I also appreciate that the team made a local co-op game, they seem to be a rarity this days…

The original art is amazing too, loved the Saturn Eating his Child :p

Submitted(+2)

fun game, fast paced and the music is intense.

Submitted(+2)

I liked the concept of this game, But I got a bit annoyed when enemies kept spawning right on top of me.
