Nice and fun game, congrats! The phantom guide ball was a nice touch, it helps a lot. The idea to use souls to get money and be able to use money to get souls was great, it's a really nice push-and-pull.
Really fun! at first I was intimidated by the 100 gold requirement, but after a few tries I got the gist of it and it felt really satisfying to beat, I beat it twice in fact!
Really appreciated the ghostball mechanic, it was a simple yet clever way of showing the trajectory. I also loved the deal with the devil mechanic, it mixes strategy with skill very well! And the ominous "or your soul is MINE" text really gave it some weight!

Cool game! I was a bit confused by the shop, I couldn't tell if anything was even really happening until I exited the menu and realized by "free gold" you meant that it'd be added to the game board. That's a pretty clever idea, having the items directly modify/add to the level!
Like others have said, the fake soulball is also a clever solution. Using Raycasts would definitely work, although it'd be off by a little bit because the ball moves in an arc rather than a straight line (Which tbh is probably completely fine, as it likely wouldn't be off by too much).
You could also take what you're already doing and instead of actually showing the fake soulball, just keep track of it's position every X number of seconds. Then you could pass all those points into a Line2D to draw the full trajectory. That'd be 100% accurate, although you'd still have to wait for the fake soulball to travel it's full duration. Lots of ways to solve the same problem!
Yeah I think there are probably advanced ways I could predict the line with math given that I know the exact location and velocity of the ball and wind doesn't exist but for the purposes of the Jam I just went with the ghost ball haha. Mostly cause I didn't know how raytracing works (This is my first game in Godot outside of a quick tutorial) Thanks for the advice on drawing a line with Line2D I'll definitely keep that in mind for future projects!

I'm not sure if I had a bug or what, but it seemed like after I beat the initial board, it just moved the fire closer to me and didn't reset the board or anything, so it was weird. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but the game itself plays well, and it was a clever solution to just use a fake soulball to indicate trajectory! In the future, you may want to look into just using raycasts + Line2D, but the idea is solid.
ah yeah that's intentional, the way this game works the fire dynamically moves itself up when treasure is completely removed. If you don't have treasure to destroy you can get more from the shop, but beware the treasure is cursed haha. You win the game by buying your freedom from the shop for 100 money.
Also I'll try out raycasts in the future! I'm rather new to Godot so I kinda just went with what I knew for the guide. Thanks for the suggestion!
Strange little game. I wish the whole tutorial was included in the game and not in the description, but you did your best to take the time to add it, which is much appreciated. Not my jazz, but I can see the appeal. Good work!
Thanks for taking a look! Yeah I'll have to try and get a tutorial in the game next time. I actually wrote lots of bits of the tutorial after the jam ended haha. This is my first time trying Godot out so I have a lot to add for my next entry. Sound and Tutorials are definitely up there. I might actually try and take a page out of your game. The textless pictograms for tutorials were really nice and intuitive.
Good take on the Faustian Bargain Wildcard - neat idea to allow the player to create their own board and choose how complex they want to make the rules. Managed to repay my debt with a lot of left wall and ceiling curses.
Game looks great too although the score is hard to read on the normal itch.io player (although it looks fine when fullscreen) because of the change in aspect ratio. There's this tutorial in the Godot docs that goes over a few ways to fix this kind of thing. One of the first settings I change in a 2D game is the Stretch Mode to "2D" and the Stretch Aspect to "keep" (apologies in advance for the unsolicited advice).
Oh by all means the advice was great! I'm a new Godot user for this game Jam. Just hopped over from Unity so any and all hints are appreciated. I'll be sure to keep an eye on the GUI for the next game I make with Godot. For the time being I've fixed the UI to work with the default resolution.
Also good idea on stacking lots of ceiling and wall curses! It's really cool to see people dig into the depth behind the generation for my systems.

Yeah the easy to start but hard to master was a huge goal of mine! Thanks for taking the time to explore the depth behind the procedural generation. This is my first game outside a tutorial made in Godot. I recently hopped over from Unity and am still tryin to find my footing in this engine haha so I didn't quite get to adding sfx and music. Next time I'll definitely try and have audio.

Thanks! I'll change the starting resolution back. Originally itch had it at 640x480 and I upscaled it to like 1600x900 but I think that was probably going a bit overboard. Shrunk it back down to 640x480 so now I think just about anyone should be able to see it and then fullscreen to fit their monitor.
Also yeah this is my first game in Godot (outside a tutorial) so I didn't quite have time to figure audio out haha. I'll definitely try it for the next Jam. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Fun take on a brick-breaker like game! I like the art and the curse mechanics.
