Nice submission! I enjoyed seeing a sci-fi entry, didn't expect to see it. It was pretty fun seeing the different weapons you could get and I really liked the designs for the creatures and the astronaut. Personally, I would have preferred the final weapon being more akin to the earlier weapons in its area of effect. Also, would have liked to see the ability to change the controls/audio settings on the main menu. Good job on implementing that though!

Very fun game! Absolutely loved the upgrading system, felt really rewarding. Made it to wave 10! I think it could use some work regarding the balancing of damage taken and dealt, but overall good job!

I really enjoyed the progression and had a lot of fun! I think the spawning of the octopus aliens could do with being a bit further out as I found that they jumped me as soon as I left the forge room in the later levels.
I went back and played it again though which I haven't done with any other game in this jam -thanks for making it :)

I liked the weapon evolution system, I was eager to see other evolutions, I got to the katana very quickly. It would be nice to have a weapon that had an area attack maybe?

I found the mechanic of placing the ore in the forge confusing, it’s not very intuitive to have to click on the text, it would be much better if it were the item icon.

Congratulations on the submission!

Nice job.  I liked the progression of the sword.

Cool idea making a forge in space, I liked the sound effects and the ennemies (the squid? is beautiful). It took me some time to understand how to forge so maybe showing more that you can click on materials would be a great idea. Great gameplay and game loop, it was fun, good job !

WOMP WOMP WOMP WOMPPPPPP! I had fun! :D I liked how you attacked in the direction of your mouse and there was an indicator! I wish i could visually see the items in my inventory. BOING BOING BOING i liked the blob :D

A sci-fi forge? Didn't expect that! The game loop of fighting enemy waves to upgrade weapons is definitely solid and I liked the ambiance of the space station. It could use a little more balancing though since by the second wave I was already one-shotting every enemy easily. Great idea and well executed!

Developer

Yeah, that's always something we have difficulty in a game jam. Its difficult to find enough time to get all of the balance pieces worked out so things scale in difficulty appropriately. Certainly something we will try to spend more time on in the future!

Thanks for playing our game!

i think with more weapons this would be alot of fun, i liked seeing what the next weapon would become, especially since each one was different mechanically
initially i didnt realize enemies were dropping anything though; i thought i was just getting these upgrades randomly

Developer

We definitely wanted to add more weapons. Next on our list was a Lightsaber Laser-Sword. Unfortunately, since each was its own animation, assets, and sounds we didn't have time to get to more than the 4 we implemented. We may add more in the future!

Thanks for playing our game!

I really like the concept of an alien forge! Health drops in later rounds might be an idea for an addition. Good job!

Thanks for playing our game!

This is an idea we played back-and-forth with a little bit, but ended up going with the new health drops in order to lean into the permadeath motif a little more. Post game-jam, this may be a feature that we are try adding and see if that changes up the difficulty enough to allow the player to get a little further into the game without reducing the challenge.

Cool little game y'all got! Super easy to get into and understand what's going on. Killing enemies with my katana felt very satisfying once I got to the later rounds. Would be cool if you could explore more environments, and maybe even use resources to unlock those areas. Idk why but your game reminds me of CoD Zombies and how you mechanically spend resources on weapons. If y'all do continue it, would be cool to see how it develops. Either way, nice job!

Thanks for playing our game!

The comparison to CoD Zombies may just be the highest praise I've ever received on something I've worked on! While CoD Zombies wasn't something we originally had in mind for inspiration, I also felt some similarities once it all game together. Probably a fair amount of subconscious inspiration from playing it so much back in the day.

The animations are great, there's a certain charm to simplicity.  I don't know if it's a bug or you can only upgrade to Katana before you can't upgrade the weapon type anymore.  I managed to make it to Wave 17 w/ 167 enemies killed.  The game definitely grew on me the more I played.  This has potential for a solid game with some enhancements and polish.

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, the katana is the final weapon in the upgrade "tree" (it's more of a line really). We had hopes for more weapons and possibly variations of each type, but didn't get around to adding all the content we dreamed up early on.

I love the little walking "animation." The little astronaut is really cute. It's fun killing enemies.
