This was a very ambitious game which is very respectable, however, some feedback and UX stuff still have some room for improvement. The sfx was a bit overwhelming at times, but aside from those issues it was a nice entry.
Fun gameplay but was overshadowed by the lack of good graphics, especially the font type which was hard to read. The game was perfectly tied into the theme. Although Gauntlets were not designed that much good and I didn't enjoy them personally.
Good job btw :)
Thanks. The gauntlets were randomly generated using a sort of complicated algorithm, and it was hard to balance.
At first I thought the game was super difficult because I was using the swords, then I changed to the bow and it became extremely easy, that's a major balancing issue. The only thing that made me lose in a gauntlet was not buying enough arrows. The market and bow are wayyyy too OP, I never used the forge mechanic at all, only bow and market. Also the arrow doesn't go exactly in the mouse direction. On the good side, the game felt responsive thanks to the sounds, and I think the idea has potential. Anyways good job on finishing and submitting the game! I had fun playing it
I like the idea, the difficulty was very hard. I had a good time in the gauntlets, though it was difficult when the arrows weren’t quite lined up with the angle to the mouse, that little bit of offset made me waste many arrows, which were expensive to recoup through forging. Overall the concept is a good start, with some more polish I think it has a fun gameplay loop to it.
Great work. The gauntlet's can be quite difficult especially if you're using a sword since it doesn't seem like the player is able to move (unless I'm missing some controls).
Interesting concept! I was a little confused by the controls of the gauntlet round and didn't get very far, but I think this has potential to be pretty fun with a little more work and balancing. Great job overall!
Overall it’s fun, the sound effects are a bit jarring, but the game loop is easy to get into. Good work!
Thanks!
Great effort and I like the idea behind the game! I would say though that I am slightly lost on the goal of the game? Also a bit unforgiving during the battle sequence not being able to move.
Moving would kind of ruin the point of the game, because then you can just run away and every so often, look back and shoot the enemies with a bow. Also, I wanted the game to be really difficult. So difficult in fact, that I haven't even gotten past the 4th gauntlet!
Very cool ideas for the game, liked the audio a lot too. Not exactly sure what the thought process behind putting ranged enemies in the gauntlet that you can't dodge as no movement. A depleting health/stamina bar would feel less punishing considering everything else at play.
That would have been a good idea! I was going to add movement to the gauntlet last minute but it was too close to the end of the jam, and I would have to change a lot of scripts to get the game to be the same level of difficulty. However, you can shoot the arrows to make them disappear, and you can also slice them with a sword.
The game was super accessible and easy to get into! I loved it!!!!
Thanks!
It was okay. But with a menu heavy game the ui has to be readable, and understandable. Kinda difficult to play the game when I can barely read the font.
Did the font look like this?
Yeah, the color choices just kinda strained my eyes tho. Would have been better to have like black on white/light gray.
That’s true, but I tried that and it looked really boring. I could have used less bright colors though.
Hetic and fun :)
Congrats on your first game jam submission. I was pleasantly surprised this wasn't just a menu clicker game. I wanted to be able to move the character in the gauntlet, though, and I couldn't get it to work. I don't think I ever finished a gauntlet, either.
I look forward to seeing more, and good luck scoping the next project.
Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking of adding moving in the gauntlet, but I had already hard-coded the position of the character, and I didn't want to have to change everything as there was only a day until submissions were due.
