Liked the strategy besides even when units are built like the leaper.
The graphics and music are gorgeous and it's fun to play, nice job!

This is fantastic!  First playthrough was a looong drawn out epic battle where I kept frantically trying to block and react to whatever they sent me.  Suffice it to say by the third time I played, I'd figured out a basic order of units to pump out to sort of wash the map, and it was super-satisfying.  Great experience curve.
I LOVE the art, that was all done by neoxus30?  Very good job, it feels professional.  The audio was on point as well, giving great feedback to what was happening.  This doesn't feel much like a jam game, it feels like an early demo for a polished experience.  Massive kudos, I loved the whole thing.
Only criticism I have, and I know when you read this you're gonna say "yeah, yeah, we wanted to but didn't have time" as is the nature of jams: I wish the UI displayed the cost and hp of each unit directly above, below, etc the purchase button while in the level.  Just for the sake of convenience.  I of course quickly memorized their costs, but it would have been frosting on the cake.
Very well done, thanks for giving us such a great game to play!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! In the last days we made sure to balance the game so it felt like a stalemate if you were not using the units to counter the enemy, hope it didn't drawn out too much though!

Yep, all the sprites, UI buttons and sounds were done by her! They look really good.

Funny enough I DID had the thought of adding a tooltip to the unit buttons to show the cost, hp and image of the unit you were spawning, That wasn't even a "we didn't have time" that was a complete oversight on my part as the spawning buttons were one of the first things we worked on and then just....didn't return to lol. Glad you liked the game!

Thanks!

I love the premise, and then a skip intro so it's easy to jump back in quickly.  Nice work!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I made sure the story had a skip to get back again, In hindsight I should have added a play again button on the win/lose screen

Nice, I really liked the visuals. Gameplay has a cool rock/paper/scissors sort of element to it, which is cool! I wish there was a way to increase scrap production to get more of a leg up on the opponent. That would be my first suggestion if y'all start adding more unit types.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We spend the last days trying to fine tune the units so each in fact had a unit or tactic they work against, nice to know it worked.

Scrap production was one of the ideas we had while working on it, as well as more units, but you know the old saying: "Not enough gamejam time" lol

I liked playing these kind of games back in my schooldays. I got a "bad" surprise when a jumping unit killed my flyer.

The sprites look great with a nice color palette

turquoise/cyan in the foreground and liliac/purple in background.

Developer

Thanks! The idea definitely came from old flash games like Age of War and those "Defend the castle" games. Wish there were more of them so we made one.

Seems like you had a great mechanic and polished it like crazy! The sprites, background art, particle effects, animations, sound design, and music all come together really well - I found it really satisfying to play.

The leapers are so fun! Watching them jump over walkers, or jump into flyers brought me a lot of joy :) Overall a really well designed experience, I hope to see more of it!

Thank you! Back in the first days we realized very quickly the leaper was really fun, so we focused a little more time on it to make it sure was satisfying to see it jumping on friendly units to get a flyer, or horrifying to see the enemy one just leap over all your units directly to your base.

This is a rare genre to see in game jams. Congratulations, I imagine it was a lot of work!

At first, I found it a little difficult, but once I understood the logic of each unit, I could win without losing any HP. I ended up not using leapers much though

Thanks! Yeah it was more work than we thought but we managed to pull through most if not all the goals we set for the jam!
