Game Description
A short "puzzle" game where you learn and play the songs of each level to progress to the next.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The title "Gate of God" comes from the native Akkadian name for the Tower of Babel which was the original inspiration for the game. Originally players would learn languages to solve the puzzle of each layer's portal but I decided to go with musical notes instead of language.

Love this game!  Very satisfying to learn the songs and the sound design is beautiful.   I did get stuck though and couldn't figure out the puzzle after unlocking all the notes. I'm probably missing something, also not very good at puzzle games :P

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it and played it to the final puzzle! The levels were put together very last minute so the final puzzle's solution might not be very intuitive. I'm not very good at puzzle game's myself so I'm not sure why that was the direction I decided to go in for my first jam submission haha.

I really liked this concept. You might want to provide more feedback to the player on what "code" is being entered when they play the music. I sometimes didn't know if I had done it cleanly enough or not. Great first jam submission can't wait to see what you do next.

Thanks for the game

Yeah that was an issue I unfortunately never got around to addressing but the idea was to light up the portal's runes as correct notes/sequences were played. Thanks for the feedback and I loved Towering Tales!

Great game, very unique concept! Figuring out the music patterns was cool, but very very difficult. I don't quite see how it fits the theme of tower, maybe climbing the plateau? Couple of things I noticed while playing: the teleport sound effect is very very loud, it would be nice to control when the statues play the music instead of looping so I could practice and figure out notes right next to it, and the sprint doesn't work on controller. Once again, very interesting concept and a cool game! The art was also very nice!

Thank you!

The levels/puzzles were put together very last minute so I unfortunately didn't have enough time to get playtests and feedback, sorry for that!

For the theme the idea was originally based on the Tower of Babel and players would learn languages from characters/puzzles on each plateau that would teach them some passphrase to activate each portal and ascend the tower. That idea proved to bit a bit too ambitious given the timeframe, and my level of skill with Godot, and that idea was uncomfortably close to Chants of Senaar.

Sorry also about the sound and sprinting... I had set different audio busses for the sounds in the game which gave the statues a much more angelic sound and also cleaned up the very sharp/loud teleporting sound effect but I guess those didn't get pulled with the export. I'm not sure why the sprinting on controller doesn't work so I'll have to do some research into those issues.

Thank you for the feedback!
