It's a good game but i have some problems: the jump button should, in my opinion, be by default the space button instead of the W button. The slimes are too weak: it's difficult to be hit by them and i think they should change direction when they collide. The saws should also deal damage to slimes. I also think that a main menu and a settings menu (audio, visuals, screen size) should be nice. For me, the main character should be flip according to its velocity instead of the mouse position. Lighting the light is also unclear and you won't sear clearly if you turned on the light or not.
Don't forgot that it is only my opinion, not your. It's a really nice game and the theme is respected. Continue like that and congratulations!
haha cool thanks for that
Nice game, Love the music, but I think is not match with the game. What is the meaning of the helmet?
Anyway, it was fun to play it.
Good job.
Thank you for playing. The helmet was there to silence the music and show the hidden lanterns used to unlock the doors. I definitely needed some more polish around the indicators. These things just sneak up on you haha
Cute art style and I like the music. Pity there is no hit feedback. And I just don`t understand helmet mechanic, how does it change the game if all lanterns will be visible?
Thank you, the music is made by my brother, he is genius there haha. Yes, there was a lot of feedback indictors that would take the game to the next level. Have a new respect for platformers haha
The helmet was there to show the hidden lanterns and turn down the music as well as disable your damage. Another week or so I would of just spent really tightening the polish.
I loved the art style of this game and it was fun too! I forgot to use my helmet at one point and realized I had almost destroyed my chance at lighting one of the lanterns, but thankfully i was able to jump and light it. Great job!
A jump shot! +5 skill haha nice one :) thank you for playing
I liked the fact that you could practically destroy the whole map. If you arent careful and play around too much you could even end up having to restart a level xD
All in all it was a fun little game!
Thank you for making it!
Haha yeah, there is the point of no return. Thank you for playing :)
It's a fun little game! Cool idea to break blocks to progress through the level and make your own path. It made the game almost feel like a stealth game! Good job :D
Ninja assassin mode you say haha Thanks so much :)
Cute game! It had a vibe of that legendary Nintendo game from 80s where you break the ice to get on top :) Ice Climber? Because of the switching between realms, it also reminded me of the last jam games :D
The jumping is a bit too fast/linear, I think some acceleration/decelration could make it feel more natural?
It is clear to me that you are my soul mate/friend because my wife would attack me if had another soul mate hahaha
So I have this memory of when I was a kid. My friend and I are playing a game, and man are we playing. Up until 4am determined. Level after level you know what I am saying. So much fun!
Dude then I asked so many people, no one knows. I cant remember the name. I am googling penguin ice brick breaker... nothing. It seemed as if this game only existed in my mind.
And now you, you have closed the gap. Thank you!! Ice Climber what a great game. All the memories coming back.
I wanted this game to have that gameplay. I thought is was so much fun.
I agree with the movement. Making a platformer has shown me a lot. You can tweak a lot and really spend a good amount of time just reworking the movement.
This was a journey haha but thank you again
Solid game. It had classic double jump mechanic that I really enjoyed. I thought the sword strike animation was great. I read it was your 2nd time entering the jam, this is great for that.
Dave thank you! You know there is a story here. I entered my first jam, and it was a rollercoaster. When I submitted it I had this feeling of completion. It was a silly game, but yes a candle had been lit. (que arc of small projects training for the next jam). This was it. 10 Jams ago I entered in and now I am back... with another silly game haha
Comparing the 2 jams and looking back at then vs now, puts a smile on my face. When I play really good games in the jam I get even more excited, like I am powering up! haha anyways...
This game was very intuitive for me to pick up and start playing, but I think it could use some juice. The fact that there's no sound or enemy feedback makes the game feel a bit dry to play.
Also, I couldn't figure out how to beat the final boss. I see in the description that it says you should be able to click to shoot, but all I have is a melee attack. Is the final boss beatable without a ranged attack?
Yeah I agree, there was a lot more I wanted to put in with regards to battle feedback. You know to give that sweet sweet platformer feedback.
The final boss, thank you! I appreciate you getting there and really trying it out. The final boss did need more. You activate the 2 lanterns, that stuns him for 4 seconds. This gives you the chance to attack him. He also had too much life haha tweaks that will be made
Oh oops, I didn't even notice that lighting the lanterns stuns the boss! Since they kept going out when I lit them, I assumed I was supposed to beat the boss first before lighting them. Guess it was the other way around...
haha game jam games am I right. Yeah the boss fight needed some love. I felt I had betrayed him when I didn't even make him face the right direction... ( me sharpening my samurai sword )
I liked the concept and the gameplay, but perhaps the attacking mechanics and the characters' hitboxes needed to be polished a little, since many times it doesn't give the sensation of hitting or being hit by an enemy.
On the other hand, I liked the effect of the music when activating the helmet, and the tutorial could have been a little more explanatory really.
I still managed to defeat the final boss,
Great job! :D
That goes a long way, thank you. Yeah you right about the characters. Haha there is a funny story there. Damn creating enemies turn out to be its own anime side arc hahaha Thanks for the feedback
The controls felt great, but I couldn't figure out how to get out of the tutorial zone, I'll keep trying before rating because I feel like this could be really fun!
Yeah I needed to put an indicator of sorts. Hit the light on the candy cane to activate it, just be careful you cannot attack bricks or enemies when your helmet is activated. Thank you for playing<3
Came back and played again, I like switching between being able to deal damage and seeing your goal, felt like a cool balance! The "dark world" kinda reminded me of Super Mario 2's door/potion areas. Good work Cripster, I enjoyed the game.
That is really awesome of you, thank you!
Great game. Fun and intuitive game play.
I like it!
Champion, thank you for playing
this game needs a bit more polishing other then that 8/10 game fantastic job!!!!!!!
Thanks so much :)
