Cool take on Freeze with the catching criminals! Had a good time with this, but only got a high score of 17. Great work!
Around the 15 mark is where it usually gets hard even for me, and I know what to look for, so 17 is great!!! Thanks for playing :))
This was lots of fun! I loved the color palette and sound effects. The different faces were similar enough that I couldn't just mindlessly click around, but different enough that I could find the criminal and have time to find a good opportunity to click. Great job!
Thank you for playing!! I was quite happy about the balance I was able to find between the different facial features so every character was distinct even though they were randomly generated.
The game is unique to say the least, I quite enjoyed it. It's not normally my cup of tea, but for people that like memory games this can be quite fun. I got to 16 criminals! I'm not sure if it's implemented but to increment difficulty instead of only increasing their speed and quantity, it would be nice to maybe find more criminals at once!
Thanks for all the nice comments :D I was in the beginning setting out to increase the number of criminals and part of the difficulty curve, but unfortunately my lack of programming knowledge and the limited time I had made it hard. In the future maybe, who knows :D
Really enjoyed this! I really enjoyed the Wanted minigame, and I think you put a nice spin on the gameplay format! The mix and match nature of the faces and accessories adds an extra layer of challenge. I enjoy the visual style as well. This is a really addicting kind of game to play, had a lot of fun with it!
thank you for playing and all the nice comments :D
Cool game, I got up to 26. You're insane for getting all this done in just a fraction of the time that was given for the jam. And I thought I did good using all the time given for the jam. Really great simple experience that can be expanded if you'd like to. Congrats on your game!
Had a lot of studying and christmas coming up, so didnt manage to get all the features done that I wanted, but happy that a playable game came out at last :) thanks for all the nice comments!
I had a lot of fun playing this. The tempo increase was a nice touch. Good job here!
Thank you!!!
I liked the game and the direction you took the theme! It was a fun little game that one can enjoy even with limited skill, reaction time, etc, as it mainly relies on the skill of face and pattern recognition :D
Thank you for submitting the game!
Thanks for playing and all the nice comments :)
Well, that's a pretty smart game! Taking advantage of the human brain in recognizing faces :)) Do you know of "Chernoff faces"? :) And smart interpretation of the theme! The game is so simple, but is quite catchy!
I wish the progression was a bit more challenging - I felt like I would never lose, so I just quit after 24 catches. While speen and quantity increase - the time increases compensate too much. I'd recommend shortening it for a challenge :) At least after some levels
Thanks for all the nice feedback! I didnt know about the chernoff faces, but after looking it up its quite similar to how I made my characters with little variables to make the characters distinguishable!
Regarding the difficulty, I've realized afterwards how easily I could've added a difficulty setting or even slider in the menu so the player themselves can decide how difficult they want the game. Now I just tried to make it manageable but never impossible for the player. There were definitely some early version of the game that were NOT this easy hahah!
Baha this is such a great game - it reminds me of Wario Ware mini games. Your color pallette is so mesmerizing and nice to look at! Wish it went even FASTER though to feed my addiction to arresting baddies
Thank you for your nice words! It was actually inspired by another Nintendo minigame, more specifically "Wanted" from New super Mario Bros DS! The balancing was pretty hard to get right, and I should've probably added different difficulties that people could try to make it more interesting :)
I got fired after 13 criminals caught. Amazing color palette fun sounds -- did you use swappable parts to randomly generate faces or were those all hand drawn? Either way, fun game, nice job!
I hand drew 5-10 different nose, hair, eye, mouth, and head parts, which then get randomized for every person every time a new level starts. To not accidentally make duplicates for the criminals there are actually some specific parts that ONLY a criminal can spawn with, but after some playtesting from a friend it seems like it was hard to pick up, so the game still is difficult for the average player! Thank you for the compliments and glad you enjoyed the game :D
Very cool, I was thinking about how I would do it and was curious!
It's a simple concept but very fun haha, I managed to reach 19 but at this point the criminals were already very fast haha.
Maybe it lacked some entertaining music to accompany the gameplay, but apart from that it's a great job! :D
Thank you for playing and enjoying my game. and yeah the difficulty starts to spike after level 15 haha.
I had a music loop playing in the background, but should've probably made it a bit more varied and louder as well. It was one of the last things I threw in just to not have the game be quiet, so it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't noticeable!
Simple and fun! Also it is the type of game that you can add much more features in the future. Nice submission!
Thank you so much! And yeah, more sprites, different levels, maybe dark modes where the mouse is like a flashlight so you have to search more. A lot of potential upgrades :D
I love how the enemies move. The Gameplay is a fun level of challenging and the sound effects and animations between levels bring it all together.
Thanks for all the nice comments :D The movement of the sprites was easily the hardest thing for me to get right, since I've only programmed movement controlled by player input before, but happy that it turned out good this time :D
I liked the theme and the unique gameplay. Great use of gameboy palette to make the game more challenging.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, when i started making sprites for the game without the palette I realized how easy the game would be. It's interesting how the difficulty can change just by switching out the color pallette. :D
The thumbnail got my attention - I liked the sound design and the game was a fun little matching game. I think i got 22 in the end but ran out of time. I like the interpretation of the theme too!
Thank you so much! Sound design is something I am fairly new to, but after playing the thing with only the music it felt so lackluster, so had to try to make something. Glad that it turned out good :D
