Well polished, simple game concept with a solid difficulty ramp. The aesthetics are great, and it was fun! I had a bit of stuttering before each new attack on my first attempt, likely due to the shaders. Subsequent plays were buttery smooth. Great entry!
Good game! I love how you drew the hands and the eyes, there is a lot of personality. The mechanics are fun, good job!
I love the idea! The game had a good increase in difficulty, tho I always died at the chess stage. Would have loved to just retry this stage. As I first entered the chess stage, I thought I had to play it for real, only for the Eternal Lord thingy to destroy my whole board and break multiple rules of chess D: Naturally I had to punish him for that, but I am just not good enough xD
I enjoyed the time in the game. Thank you for making it :D
Thanks for playing! Unfortunately, checkpoint was sacrifice for other things. Even sadder, it`s already in the code and needs just a little refactoring, but not when there are 2 minutes left before the deadline :D
Awesome entry, I loved the intro and how you were slowly introduced to the boss' attacks.
Nice game - the aesthetics and the game dynamics are very nice. Yet the game lags a bit too much - looks like there is some weird loop in choosing a spot for the next icicle to drop.
I died at the chess part, and would happy to retry it if it restarted just from the chess part :)
Thanks for feedback! Could you please discribe more about this lag? In each new icicle attack phase drop spot choosed randomly from entire grid and then deleted this position, there is no any loop here.
The screen just freezes, sometimes for a second in the beginning of some attacks. Maybe the source is something else? But there were quite some close-to-freeze lags during the battle.
I think this happens the first time the particles are instantiated. My game had that issue and the solution I found online was to just instantiate them at the beginning with a black screen on top and then queue_free'd them and it solved the issue, like a loading screen.
Oh, that's what's going on, i see. Now I remember what in first start after upload I had some lags too, but thought this is connection issue, just refreshed the page and forget about it. Thank you very much for pointing that out!
Btw, maybe do you know where I can learn about audio? As you can hear the volume of the sounds changing and it`s not my will, i can`t find how to fix it.
I have no idea sorry, I'm still learning :P I've played another jam entry that had audio issues depending on the browser you use to play it.
So it's like preloading?
I loaded and initialized all notes at the beginning of each song in my game to avoid the possible lag in opening each song file each time. Is that a similar thing?
I love the atmosphere this game has! The premise is simple enough, but the sound and art really drew me in. The hands are a nice touch - they give the attacks some warning and make the game more fair while simultaneously looking cool.
I wish there was a checkpoint at the chess part though. I finished the first part with all three lives, but when I got to that point, I got completely destroyed within 30 seconds. :/
Thanks for your feedback! Ironicly i dislike hands the most in my game, i drew them in last day in hurry, plus i`m not an artist. Checkpoints was in planning but it`s my first gamejam and second playable game, so i failed time managment :D
Btw, did you give another try on chess phase and if so do you have problems to understand what need to do?
Impressive for your first jam!
I got to the chess part three times (and lost within 30 seconds at all three attempts). On the first attempt, I assumed that I was supposed to get rid of the king, so I tried going straight for it out of the gate. I think I ended up destroying the king but dying in the process.
On the next two attempts, I tried to remove as many pieces from the board as possible by lasting as long as possible (didn't work either, obviously).
Now THIS is a proper jam scoped game. I loved this concept. I think it was fun and inviting even though it was really simple. I think it was very cool to have some sort of ominous ice ghost throw the icicles. I think the feedback of the game was great too , especially the ice cracking when you bumped into it.
I did have some freezing up (technical bug, not the theme) in full screen. Idk if that was intentional, to tell the player when an icicle was coming down?
Thanks for playing and feedback! Icicle full fall take about 1.5 sec, 1 second for red circle and half for fall animation.
Part of the icicle sprite look out on top of the screen in circle phase. Is that what you mean? Yes, it`s bug, what i spotted to late.
Very nice concept, we enoyed playing a lot! n.n Great sounds and style
This was lovely, every new mechanic was really intuitively introduced into the game and it had a good level of challenge and entertainment! The graphics work really well for what it is.
Loved your game, really well made
Really solid game all around! Smooth controls, audio and graphic design is very nice.
Really fun game! Pretty unique gameplay and quite easy to understand too. I really like the idea with the body parts indicating each attack.
I thought I was doing okay but then I got a bit overwhelmed at the chess pieces ^^'.
It's a very well made game though, great work!!
Thanks for playing!
Did you give it another try and if so do you have problems to understand what need to do?
