Poor Lucius did not survive his battle with gigaslime. Not bad for a something made in 1 day!

It's an entry worth a few laughs. Not the worst jam game I've played! Gigaslime was pretty tough and I was afraid of the other boss going all out, but thanks for sparing me!
Overall: Not too bad for a one-day entry, but the final battle could have used some balancing.
Gameplay: Straightforward enough but I could not get past the final boss! Auto heal before the final boss would have been nice and probably not very time-consuming to implement.
Music: RTP I think? Not crazy familiar with MZ's RTP.
Story: I mean for a rush job it works.
Graphics: RTP.
Comedy: Those trees on the right look like a willy.
This game reminds me of a scene in Indiana Jones ... Indi was supposed to throw his bola at a man who was wielding a big knife - might have been a machete - in a crowded village square. Harrison Ford and Terry Richards practiced the scene for three weeks.
When the day of the final shoot came Ford was sick and instead of the fight they had practiced over and over Ford pulled out his prop gun and 'shot' Richards, who dropped like he had been shot.
The Director, Spielberg, thought the whole thing was funny so he used that shot instead.
BANG
Why does this game feel so relatable?
I know this is the "just for the sake getting an entry in" type of game, but it still has a decent effort put into it. Good work on that one!
Well, it was effectively what it said on the tin, but what I'm more surprised by are the areas where a molecule of effort clearly went in. ATB mechanics and slightly different battlers instead of just throwing in RTP and calling it a day?
I will not call this entry good but it slightly exceeded my rock bottom expectations. See you next year!
I know this was a low-effort entry, but there still was something enjoyable about this!
Things I liked:
- Short - I love entries that don't try to be hours-long epics! I want to play all the entries but not spend all month at it!
- Battles were not overly difficult or complicated
- Little bits of humor made the experience enjoyable
Things I didn't like or think could have been better:
- TP gain is too slow to really accomplish the full heal mechanic - I tried to get a couple of party members to 100 TP but the battle was over before they could get there
- Encounter rate could be higher - Since there is literally no navigation in this game, you could have actually increased the encounter rate (when was the last time you heard someone say that?) to reduce the time it takes to get to the next battle. That said, the default encounter rate wasn't too bad.
I know this is meant to just be a shitpost game for the sake of getting an entry in, but had you spent a week instead of a day (being generous with the definition of "day") I think you could have iterated on the idea a bit and made it a strong entry.
Thanks! When I first came up with the TP mechanic, it was meant as more of a failsafe for the magic users, so they wouldn’t end up out of juice with no way to recover when the boss appeared. I could’ve just stuck a recover all on the sparkly save/tutorial point, and in retrospect, maybe that would’ve been better. And yeah I suppose the encounter rate does force a lot of back-and-forth running to make them appear. The “battle every step” approach would’ve worked here.
Anyway glad you didn’t find it completely terrible!
The moment I played this top-notch production, at last, my life is complete ! My depression and anxiety has been cured, and the sun has never shined brighter. This is the best game to have ever come out in the 21st century!
