We've decided on my stream that this is mini-Celeste if the writing wasn't as good. But comparing game jam writing to Celeste writing is properly unfair.
The gameplay is neat, I like having the mechanics between the two characters for the little puzzles. It kinda reminds me of Fireboy and Watergirl (hopefully someone knows what that is.)
I'm sure that you know this, but the visuals leave a little to be desired.
It's a nice little platformer. Good job.
Wow, that was a short sweet game with a nice message, it pulls my string a little! I also like the bubble mechanic, although abit janky some times, but the idea behind it was interesting! Great Job!
Nice little puzzle platformer with a story. Very cruel bad ending lol.
Some personal thoughts:
-The turbines/bubble interaction feels a little weird. It starts to go downwards when you stand on top of the bubble, followed by a delay. Only then the bubble will get blown off by the turbine.
-For some reason, there is a weird speed difference between walking on ground and maneuvering in the air. Walking on ground is way faster, which threw me off sometimes when I hold directional button in the air and lands, especially on small platforms.
-Since there is only one transformation, I think it would be more straightforward to use Z as summoning bubbles and X as blowing fire (character can still switch colors based on last ability used), instead of using X to switch mode.
-Would be nice to have ability to skip dialogues.
Good job overall, thanks for making this!
Accurate representation of Gura's 2 braincells fighting for dominance.
nice mechanics and love the title.
I liked the story writing and how the game concept follows the jam theme.
The Gura illustration used for the title screen and portraits was also very pretty.
The platforming and puzzles were okay. Some required a couple of tries to get the timing/placement right, but overall it was an enjoyable experience.
Suggestion:
- Change the canvas scaling setting so it scales to the game window instead of staying at the same (small) size regardless of window size. It made it hard to appreciate the game art. XD
The platforming got tedious and frustrating at times. Collecting a heart should have been the reward for completing a section, but some placements forced me to jump back down and redo the section entirely. It felt like a punishment, having to place bubbles and make the same jumps over and over just to get a heart. I even ended up stuck and had to restart from the beginning.
I’d much prefer getting more of the puzzle elements. Because honestly, I’m really impressed by how many creative puzzles you managed to come up with using just bubbles and fans.
This game has some cool ideas. The fans interacting with the bubbles are huge. I loved that. The puzzle elements were pretty fun to figure out, and not complicated at all, although I do wish there were a few harder ones.
As a platformer I think there are a few improvements you could make. The screen size compared to the window size is incredibly small. This is definitely unintended too since when the screen is supposed to go black, you can still see the borders not being covered up.
The jump feels a bit too floaty for me. For the distance you go while airborne you get a lot of air time. The walking speed was also a bit slow, but maybe that's because the window was so big and it just felt that way. Up to jump is also a weird choice for a platformer in my opinion but that's totally personal preference.
Fun game!
That was really fun, the puzzles weren't too complicated. Thought I did get frustrated and started to abuse the bubble as a makeshift platform when i realised i could use them at the right time to get over most ledges,
Still really fun.
