Description
Wanted to try making an OST where I mess around a bit more and thought it fitting to name it after lullabies - since a lot of the times, I don't sleep when I make the music and I end up making a lot of lullaby-like tracks. Hearing about the Impressions Composing Jam, I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to maybe try relaxing a bit when making music and not trying so hard to make something music-like.

As someone who has suffered from some pretty intense insomnia before I love how you turned not being able to sleep into inspiration! There were some times where the melody lines feel a bit aimless and random, this was most noticeable for me in No Mettle and Reeds, but I really liked your instrument choices and overall vibe!
Great work, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Wow, I was expecting other people to try and pull all-nighters too, but I didn't expect a comment about my own insomnia!
Thank you for your comment!
Some interesting compositions! I particularly thought reeds was really fun. I also liked the way the vocals played off of the melody as a call and response in the last track.
Thank you! That's really interesting to hear. I was hoping the "choir track" would be interesting to listen to!
Tappy Sounds - Crazy Bells? Whoo! I like the build-up. bells? Bells with bells and then synthesizers with bells.
Phone Ringtone - Can I put this on my ringtone?)
Tirin - I feel like I'm in Venice
No Mettle - An organ horn? What's that?)
Reeds - I love this tune! Beautiful fade out and PUM PURU PUM PUM PUM.
Sleep - Hmmm... Is this a lullaby from/for a church choir?
Overall - the soundtrack is interesting!
I like the bells)
Thank you for your comment!! Yes, you can use the ringtone for your actual ringtone haha :P
An organ horn - have you ever seen the big instrument they have in some churches? an organ? an organ horn is from there :) No Mettle actually uses a lot of synths from MuseScore, but I have to admit, it does sound like an organ a lot of times. I was imagining a vampire going on vacation.
I tried to add more bells into this album, so thank you for appreciating them!
One of those days you are so happy sleeping (Tippy) , but something wakes you up (a vibrating phone notification, maybe? Vibra) and then you keep turning in bed trying to get back to sleep, singing lullabies to yourself (Tirin) but something keeps bothering you and you can't take it off your mind (No Mettle). You finally assume it's impossible to get back to your dreams and you start creating something cool (Reeds) even though you are so tired, and finally you can get back to sleep (Sleep), hallelujah!
Thank you! That's a very on-point way to describe this album : ] Glad you liked it!!
mallets best percussion instrument hands down.... (im biased)
good stuff! my biggest things would be in terms of composition - just work on balancing each instrument and adding some rhythmic variation (syncopation, rhythmic percussion) beneath so it doesn't feel like the song is marching to a strict beat. otherwise good effort, great job composing 6 tracks in a short block of time!
Thank you! I'll keep working at it but I am surprised at the 6 tracks too ;)
Pretty interesting and certainly some unique tracks, but the middle section of Reeds is next level so I have to comment on that specifically. It's so fitting for certain game genres, and it sounds great :D when I heard it I automatically imagined I was playing a 2D topdown pixel art RPG while in a story section, it just has that vibe to it. Good stuff :D
Wow what an interesting comment! I actually had to go and re-listen to my own track now haha :D
Reeds was composed as the last track, but I started on it early during the jam actually, so I kept adding to it while working on the other tracks, not quite knowing what it would turn into. I kinda wish I had done a bit more editing on it to play with the dynamics more, but I liked the result still, so I left it as-is. I'm so glad to hear that it actually made you feel like you're playing a game storybeat! I'm also surprised to hear someone likes this middle part, I thought it might be too much, but really felt like the track had to go in that direction. Thank you so much for your comment!
Cool album, I think Reeds has something interesting you can go for, feels incomplete but you got a cool idea, tone down a bit the frequency of the harpsicord and work on the arrangement I think it can do something nice mixed with Sleep.
Thanks! That's a good idea to try out if I try continuing this!
Was surprised to see a 6 track OST haha.
The first three tracks blended in together for me, but I really liked the mallets! Sleep was my favorite track here, I liked the choir. Great work!
Thank you! I was surprised too honestly! I'm glad you like Sleep, although I tried to tap into my choir-singer backgroun, that was the hardest to compose this time :)
The mallets are nice! 'Tippy - Tappy Sounds'' and 'Vibra - Phone Ringtone' are my favorites. Latter reminded me of steve reich's mallet quartet (puparia's a short YT film where it really fits). It's a nice style, that fits the lulliby genre. Keep experimenting!
Ooh! Nice to hear this kind of comparsion! Thanks! I'm happy people like both of these! :)
I'll never not appreciate mallet heavy songs since they are the best instruments. I do think that the songs could use a little work in the composition. it is a little hard to follow them at times as it feels like random notes pretty often which makes it disorientating to listen to.
Thanks, I like em too :D Yeah, this time I started with the feeling that I'm definitely up to it and will have time to write a bit more creatively, but as time went on, I kinda got to work on em less and less. I still wanted to make something completed, but I would have liked to have worked on these a bit more (not that the time period here was too short, jut didn't manage my time between other things well enough!)
