Description
For this music jam, I explored the theme of "The Lost City" by composing ambient tracks that immerse the listener in the remnants of a forgotten city and its lost areas or different cities altogether.
The five tracks, Unveiled Entrance (Intro), Lullaby of the Depths, Lament of the Faded Market, The Silent Archive, and Timeless Observatory, each represent different types of lost ruins, capturing the atmosphere mentioned by each track's title, now lost to time.
Overall, I couldn't decide whether to make one city with multiple lost areas or whether each track represents a type of lost place. I also wanted to be a bit more ambitious with mixing traditional instruments with synthesized and manipulating their sounds!

This was amazing. Each track was different, yet coherent. The mixing was so professional - listening to this was a real treat!
I liked a lot what I heard in the fourth minute, that was my favorite part. Thank you for sharing <3 excited to hear more of your work !
Absolutely fantastic! Your mix is really clean and every song took me to a different place!
I'm so glad, I really wanted to drive home the idea of different lost areas!
I liked it a lot, the sfx gives it a very good immersion
Beautiful cellos from the beginning. A small flutes? minimelodies in the second one are great. Whole album is quite beautiful, it was a pleasure. Well done :)
Thank you for listening!! Great ear as well—I dueted a Dilruba with a Cello!
Amazing environmental ambient music, this is something I often have trouble with. It can't be too memorable and the structure can't be too predictable or repeat in an obvious way - but it needs to be transport you immediately, be memorable in an undefinable way and when you hear it out of context it needs to put you straight back into the game. So much of this does this so well - particularly Lullaby of the Depths. The cello and strings kinda just meander around an ever-changing bed of synths, harps and decorative flutes - it's really well done.
This will be a bit unorthodox, but I'll tell you where your music took me:
Unveiled Entrance and Lullaby of the Depths - Very pastoral, golden amber, wheat fields, blowing grass. To me, this is a musical impression of my recent ancestors (German farmers) having relaxing days that punctuate an otherwise busy and laborious lifestyle.
Lament of the Faded Market - Slow technological corruption of something simple and beautiful.
The Silent Archive - we're back home around loved ones.. distant clocks, like time is running out. Don't take them for granted.
Timeless Observatory - staring at the stars on a warm summer night with a loved one.
Like the other works of yours I've heard, and very much enjoyed, you are able to take natural instruments and push their timbres into something brand new. Excellent work, and I can tell you put a lot of soul into it.On a completely unrelated note, I noticed your youtube video doesn't have time markers for the songs. I had the same issue when I started this jam recently, but somehow figured out how to solve it. The answer was really hard to find, but you have to enable "Advanced Features" on your channel:
Click Your Icon (upper right) > View Your Channel > Customize Channel / Manage Videos > Settings (lower left) > Channel > Feature Eligibility > Advanced Features > Activate. Unfortunately you have to send them a photo of your ID, but within 24 hours it should work.
Sorry for all the text. This was a pleasure to listen to and took me to nice places.
I love your analysis, I'm glad the tracks were able to take you to nice places!
Omg thank you for telling me the solution for the chapters. I swear I used to be able to do them and I was so confused on why they didn't work anymore. 😅
Very ambient and pleasant to the ear. The footsteps in the first track are immersive as well. Intro for Lament is very jarring (in a good way), not to mention the awesome vocals. Only thing id say is the main guitar is a bit repetetive, though it varies enough that each soundtrack isnt boring. Very well made overall
Moving composition while retaining the ambience! I created these categories in this way specifically to capture that.
I.e. making adequate ambient music is doable... but making it stand out while also being appropriate at ambience is hard.
I think the mix is still a little midi on some of the stringed instruments. The effects are also maybe a little narrow in space, like it's kind of panned center. I've been using DearVR micro for placement so I don't have to do all the math on delay between ears and volume of each ear. It works really well for that. It has a bit of extra algo to do spatializing as your ears would reflect sound, so that is a mixed bag in terms of how to apply it. But it does that part really well.
Nice job once again! :)
Thank you for the feedback!
I'll definitely check out the plugin! Panning is tough for me to execute, so if there's a tool to help, I'm all for it! 😅
WOW. Definitely one of the most expressive posts of this jam! Well.... let's get started!
Unveiled Entrance (Intro) - Effects, sfxes and a sad violin against dreamy pads.... What else do you need to be happy? Well, only the realization that there's more to come! (Drums and other instruments are good too!)
Lullaby of the Depths - We're changing our location... Where are we this time? It looks like something either flooded or just really wet.... Even the violin seems to have gotten a bit wet :>
Lament of the Faded Market - This track brings some nostalgia.... AND WATCH
The Silent Archive - It's sad... Huge tons of information that is forever forgotten...
Timeless Observatory - WATCH. AGAIN. We write something down in a notebook..... The overall mood of the track is like saying goodbye to me.... Is this the end?
All in all - wonderful work! Good mix, selection of sounds and instruments and in general - cool! The general atmosphere gives quite strange vibes of mixed wistfulness, sadness, lostness, new discoveries and.... slime rancher?
P.S. To be honest, I listened to your post right after you published it (about a day before the deadline). So consider that I listened to your work at least three times..... and it was wonderful!
I want more. Rawr :>
Thank you so much, your analysis is honestly great feedback! I look forward to listening to your submission, you've always got great experimentation and daring tracks! ♥
