  • Hey, what a gorgeous entry. I really appreciated the mechanics and the vibe you created with the presentation values. Beyond that, I found the dialogue to be a little confusing and a bit tedious to read, as it ticked forward so slowly. (also continue was lmb, not rmb). I really like the approach to filtering dialogue through the gameplay though, and would have appreciated a bit more, perhaps at the start and end of each level to create some more narrative drive. As is, I felt a little more progression of systems / story etc would have taken the game a lot further than what's here. I hope you keep working on it, it's a really pretty place to spend time. Thanks for the game!

I love your game. I wanted to play this for a while now and finally had the time to. 

To be honest i think that i wouldnt be able to even programm something like this. The graphics and sounds are perfect for this kind of game and i love the small details for exmple the sounds of the water, the waving grass or the effects when you destroy a box. I will keep the downloaded game and play it again sometime in the future because it was that good. The only thing i found a bit confusing is the tnt-box i think it would be cool if the timer goes to plus 10 seconds or somehing like this when you hit one.

Controlling the boat felt really really good and I loved the art style, but I struggled to see how it was related to the theme. Overall a very fun game!

Thanks for the feedback :) Saw your game on stream, very cute :). I just didn't take the theme literally. By 1 room, I essentially interpreted that as 1 scene or map. Everything in the game takes place within this one island location that never changes, but different stages have different nodes to travel to.

The game feels great to play. The art style simply FEELS welcoming and gives me a feeling of nostalgia.  However, how does this game relate to the theme?

I opted not to take the theme literally compared to most others. By 1 room, I thought to make a game that featured just 1 scene that never changes, but multiple levels. There are no scene transitions. The game loads and that's everything there is. So it's like the map is the same everytime, but the nodes where you have to guide the boat to are different for different stage changes.

First of all, needless to say, this game looks amazing. The voxel-stacking and monochromatic palette make this absolutely striking, and the trail behind the ship is beautiful.

Being able to scroll the text faster while holding LMB is appreciated, but it automatically went to the next text box before I had time to react. An extra click input at the end of the dialogue would be helpful.

Crashing through the boxes is satisfying, and It seems like you can increase speed by going diagonal and weaving long turns, so there's a bit of a learning curve to landing good times on each level.

Charming and stylish, well done!

I loved controlling the boat! It was super fun trying to break all the boxes. I would've loved if some of the maps were different because right now it's just the same maps with boxes at different places. The aesthetics of the game is well made and quite unique! Good job!

this game looks and sounds great. the limited color palette was a good choice and the use of sprite stacking was definitely a really unique choice. the music is simple but fits perfectly. the intro is slow and doesn't add much to the game, it felt like half my playtime despite it being required. the boat feels really good to control but the mechanic is too simple by itself to be very fun. something you could have done was add a time to beat for each level, changing it to essentially a speedrun game and adding challenge.

I would love to know what shaders you used to accomplish this look! The boat controls and camera feel great. Only complaint is the intro as others have said. A little bit long. Maybe more of the dialogue could be distributed throughout the game as the guy on the other end of the radio commenting on your performance?

I love the stylized and low res aesthetic and boat feels good to sail! The sound design is good too. On the other hand, the intro is a little too long for being so inconsequential and it feels like hitting the tnt has no consequence. Also I think you should start the first and following stages automatically as to minimize the effort of the player. This really needed more levels and more crate types, but still good job! I'll remember to rate when they fix it.

ahh yeah, in retrospect I was trying to create a milieu but I may add a skip cutscene button after the jam or at least super skip forward, but then I feel the player lacks the framing as to why the game is why it is.... another option is to just cut the dialogue down to 2 frames instead of 7. And yeah totally! I would have loved to do at least 1 more crate type so there's like incremental mechanic learning a la cut the rope or similar games, but I just got tired lol, Thank you so much for your input :)

Ah that explains it. As soon as you present the stages the milieu feel kind of fades away though. On the intro, part of why it felt so long is because the letters appear too slowly. The typing effect is cool don't get me wrong, but I could read faster than it was written.
