If controlling a train without tracks is just as hard... Then I need 3 more lives. So, I ate all 18 and some bushes along the way, but what's next?
Yeah, hopefully I can make some more stuff before I release my video about the game on the weekend! But thanks so much for playing and for your feedback!
I really like the bus mechanic. It seems a little awkward to me to have the npc that tells you what to do at the end of the stage though. I just jumped into the water to fast-travel back to the start after I talked to him.
Lol! Thank you so much! I'm working on improving it and your feedback is super helpful!!!
really nice game ! Would've been cool to add a more arcadey type score and gameplay (like add a time limit and more speed) but It's already really good ^^
Yeah yeah yeah!!! Aye! I sure hope I can work on this one a bit more, it seems like lots of people had fun!
Hilarious game with interesting mechanics... Please make video games forever lol
Lol thank you so much! I hope I can improve as time goes on!
You're very welcome!
Thank you again!
Of course 😁

Hardyhar, you found him!
It's been fun running over and eating the corpses of the colonisers. 10/10
thank you much veery ! i so thank like it ! my sorry English not be my language first. :)
That's a brillant! I mean that your idea is expected and I get it what're you mean! I think it maybe have a mechanic which can make replay value, fun and easier! But overall is lovely!
agreed!!! Thank you!
That was NOT what I expected 😅
yooooo it's you!!!! You've got the delicious!!!
That was weird for sure. I did have a lot of fun just exploring the island with the train. The movement was really nice and I love the art style. Maybe minute to minute there wasn't much of a game play loop, if something like that was included this could become a really fun game.
Indeed, at the moment the only fun apeal is exploring, which while fun it isn't quite engaging. I suppose I should update this game with a lava monster that follows you around or something.
Hey there DataPotato,
First of all, thanks for your great rating of my game (can't wait to make a post-jam version), so I got to repay you with a full review of yours, too.
Let's go!
Theme
There were other people on the island, so not fully isolated, but that seems like kind of the point of the game, wanting to be isolated but there's more people around. Being a cannibal might also make you more isolated (at least all the cannibals I know are) but this didn't seem to be really explored in the game (having NPCs use their dialogue to react to you eating their friends (I know thats complicated for a game jam game (wow we're three layers deep in parentheses))).
Overall, I think your game fit the theme pretty well, could have been a bit better, but I feel like I'm not seeing a ton of isolation in the game.
Fun
This game was really fun. Like really really fun. Driving a train around an island, hitting people with it, then eating them? It was super nice to play and the "people eaten" count gave a nice sense of progress. I would play an entire 10-part series of this. I spent like 20 minutes just driving around, hitting things, and vibing to the absolute banger of a background song playing. That leads into...
Sound
Hey did you see that cool segue I did there?
Anyways the sound was great! I don't know how much you made (the text was cut off on the title screen) but the song was super catchy and the sounds, especially the hitting people sound, were super punchy. The sound added a ton to the game and made it feel like I was a real cannibal driving a train on an island (I swear I'm about to have the weirdest dream about this tonight).
Art
The art style was super charming (I'm a sucker for bright pixel art games). I felt like I was just having some fun with the people on the island, and not eating them. The title screen was by far the best I've seen in this jam, super creative to have the buttons be the tops of buildings (but was the settings button supposed to do anything?). Using a premade art pack is completely valid for a jam, but if you're already going the pixelated route, making your own art for a five-day jam might have gotten you one more star.
Mechanics
The game was super fun to play and replay to read all the dialogue, definitely one of my favorites. I feel like I could drive a real derailed train now if I was in that situation (I hope I won't be, but I kind of hope I will). Eating the huge guy was an... interesting part of the game. The mechanics could have been a bit deeper (also using mouse controls that are based on the player's position with no visual indication is a bit unintuitive) but they worked with everything else to make the game pretty cohesive and enjoyable!
Conclusion
Overall, your game was really nice, all the elements fit together well, and the soundtrack was exquisite! Can't wait for a possible post-jam version (and a possible DataPotato video on the jam)!
Thanks so much for your comments on my game, they'll definitely help me improve that game and others I make in the future.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I, like, I wanna write another review of your game now, but I already did oof!
Anyway I'm curious about what else you think about the premade art pack. I don't feel great about using premade assets (and I do my own art typically), but in this case my game is basically centered around the interactions offered by the pack I downloaded. I don't want to spend a ton of time and effort on something that I can't be entirely proud of, but I do think this game could benefit greatly from a post jam version. Do you think it's worth extending and how much?
Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it :)
The art was really nice, and using a premade art pack during a jam can give super nice results (as it did in yours). The pack works well with the game and it is really cool, so it's not a very big deal, but your other art is super nice too.
I think a post-jam version might benefit from some of your own art (not sure about the style but your hand-drawn looking style is pretty cool) and maybe speech bubbles above the NPCs (I know you had problems with anti-aliasing in pixel art but post-jam it might be fixable).
The idea is great and really fun to play, so it's just these minor things. I loved your game! (and thanks again for your review of mine!)
Vehicular manslaughter has never been this fun
Absolutely. Anytime. Thank you so much appreciated. See right there that's two sentences sproingled into one because I don't feel like englishing today. To the contrary I kind of just wnat toafp a;[potatosto rigohatoiotionoiow.w.alelal
This feels like a fever dream but I enjoyed every second of it! (including eating a giant man?)
I was going to write a solemnly sardonic reply, but your comment broke me... It's so true, more and more of my content nowadays is just a fever dream.... I just want to be unique and funny, and that's where my mind takes me I guess...
I like eating people to be alone
Well you sure have a big enough mouth! :D
That sure was interesting... haha loved it, the sound effects made it all more crazy
Indeed, were you able to experience drowning in your human form? I hear it's a hoot!
I want to make sure I understand the concept here :) You drive a train, but it's not on tracks, you run people over and then get out of the train and eat them.... So far as theme goes, you win Game Jam 6!
You're pretty much correct! Though my game probably does need work in lots of areas, folks are saying that the theme is gnarly, that they had fun, that the art is cool (especially the pixel train turning), the train movement and eating people mechanics feel great, and the music and sfx are cool, so I hope I won't lose too much points based on how unfinished and not challenging it is :/ though I suppose that will probably contribute to the fun category.
I did say this to someone else but just in case you didn't see it... “the concept is you are exploring a theoretically deserted island with a derailed train and eating the natives to achieve isolation after escaping your crowded hometown in an 8 bit universe”
This was awesome!
The controls were a bit odd to figure out, but eating everything was an interesting take on Isolation.
Good work!
Thank you! I was originally going to have the text in the game but then due to errors that took hours to resolve I had to change things up... But thank you!
i like it! congrats
Thank you! I'm thinking about updating it a bit after the jam!
You are not innocent. You are not without sin.
Innocence is a side effect of idleness. Sin is the wilted fruit of determined labor.
The concept of this game is all over the place, rofl
Somewhat difficult to pinpoint, yes, but let’s just call it “exploring a theoretically deserted island with a derailed train and eating the natives to achieve isolation after escaping your crowded hometown in an 8 bit universe”
That is a TRAIN and you cannot change my mind!
It is lacking some kind of challenge though, otherwise I enjoyed myself greatly
oh yeah, challenge, replayability and content are some things I could improve on, and I think I actually will make a post jam version and updates!
mm hmm. Mmmhphmhmmhpmhmmhmmmm.
Kinda looks like a bus
